He could have stimulated this economy several ways that would have put money in workers pocket fast.

I completely understand how there should have been more stringent laws set in place on lenders. However, those people applied with false incomes and everything else. Let's examine this a little deeper, lets say a person brings home 2500.00 a month income and the house payment on the house they want is 2000.00 a month, should they buy it? Monies made available under this plan are CONDITIONAL. If a state accepts funds then it MUST alter its employment laws in accordance with federal mandates PERMANENTLY. Even though the money is given over a three year period, the changes in the laws are FOREVER. Only NOW are governors starting to realize this. Talk about predatory lending practices! The very thing Obama and Co. have been flogging the mortgage industry over THEY are doing. No wonder there was such urgency to sign! READ THE BILL!!!

I haven't decided if Obama's intentions are good or bad; if he is smart enough to know the nightmares he's creating, or if he knows exactly what he's destroying. But I do know that he hasn't made a logical decision yet, which strongly suggests that he doesn't understand our position as a country, or his position as president. But he's the "not Bush" that so many people wanted. Way to set your standards high.
So what is Obama doing, as predicted? He's penalizing harder work with higher taxes in disguise, and rewarding no work with tax credits to those who don't pay taxes in order to compensate those who put him in office. When he should be working to create long-term jobs and revive whole industries, he's using his "stimulus" to pay landscapers $200 million to re-seed the white house mall (this will take about a week), and allowing opportunities for steel production to be sent to china. i'm disgusted
The problem is the people who refuse to carry their own weight, couldn't care less who is president or what his policies are, and have their hand out for all they can get. These people are the ones who throw things off balance, because they're voting for issues that benefit themselves at the cost of other Americans, and at no risk. Don't own a home, but vote for higher property tax, don't work, but vote for higher income tax to fund more handouts. Who always pays the price? Working taxpayers.
That's the problem with Democracy. If the nominee puts on a good enough act of confidence and command (which people love), and he pays an ad agency enough money to make him look like god, he can get away with murder. And if enough people fall for the facade and make a bad decision, everyone suffers. That's the trade-off for being part of a great country for all these years. We enjoyed good times together, we'll suffer bad times together... in an ideal world....

A Betsy Mcoy (sp) wrote an article for Bloomberg - apparently the healthcare insertions into this bill, were recommendations from Dashelle's book pub last year. I THINK she referenced page 196 (think that is what she said). I understand the bill contains language such as "stringent penalties for docs". She stated that they did remove cost effective test (UK formula) for seniors. Now it is based on clinical effectiveness, what ever this means!!! Do your own due dilligence - this bill stinks

Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

Avrilsdream, I have been titled a Republican by others in my industry. I am not a Republican, Dem-Crap, nor a Indy. I am for whoever can do it right. I was sickened by the Reps choice in McCain. I believe McCain has served this country well, however, his time has come and gone. Obama flat out, out talked McCain. Mitt Romney, I believe would have made a much better contender. I believe the change we need in America isn't going to come from our government. It's the people that need to change.

Yes, I'd also agree that Obama out-acted McCain. McCain didn't get the memo that it was a popularity contest, an American Idol showdown, and had nothing to do with rationale, knowledge or experience. It was as pathetic an election as people are making the country; its products and culture.
Politics is a business. Each party is going to do what's best for them and dress the rhetoric in clothes that appeal to the target market of each, so it's pretty senseless to buy into one party or the other. It was like everyone had drank the cool-aid while I was on the road. I do FOH and studio engineering. My degree is in broadcast engineering / science arts so an economist I'm not. However, I do know what time it is so I'm not totally in the dark. I believe if more of us would speak out, we might see some real, "change".
Mixman, although l though I think your industry typically leans toward liberal, the "engineering" is the part that requires left-brain rationale and reflects your mentality. You probably like to take things apart and see what makes them tick, and have a passion for step-by-step problem solving. I wish more engineers and cause-and-effect thinkers would have voted, instead of new voters. They would have called Obama's bluff then, and would be holding his feet to the fire now, like we're doing.
We need to quit expecting more for less, which is the opposite of his promises that got Obama elected. We need to slow down, increase quality in our products, and win them back from (Japan). This goal is another light year away since Obama is allowing production of steel for our infrastructure to take place in China. He lost my respect that day, as he aborted potentially hundreds of thousands of sustainable jobs and the possibility of the revival of a whole industry due to haste and ignorance.
To add to my post below ... if they took the money they are spending in this package and divided it up between the American people, each family would receive right at 3000 dollars. To me, even that is better than spending billions on say, the census. HOW will that help our economy? It wont help at all. What it will do, is help the DemCraps set themselves up in office for years to come. They say they are trying to help us? Right ! They are using us for their own agenda, as they have always done.

The whole economy has been inflated (as have people's egos) because of credit. Until now, you could drive any car you wanted as long as you made a few hundred a week. The car as a status symbol is a thing of the past, and they've become disposable as they're replaced every couple years. So the American automakers respond by putting as little money as possible into their manufacture. And encouraging people to buy what has become disposable is going to "fix" something? It will just make it worse.
The whole problem started with credit with regards to ignorance and greed; people not understanding credit (consumer), or taking advantage of credit (corporate). Spending and debt surpassed income, and it became the banks' problem. Now it's our problem. The only way out is to readjust our standards, and realize that if we don't have the money for a new car or home, and won't for five years, we should save. There's no "jolt" as Obama calls it, that will fix things. We have created this.
I understand that most of the jobs that will be created are non skilled labor, and will only last as long as the gov contract lasts, this is work, not jobs. It will cost and estimated $300,000 per job too.
32% of this bill is payback to special interests for the election. ACORN get $4 billion. Also burring in this bill is socialized medicine. Washington will oversee heathcare, applying a UK formula (socialized) to do cost benefit analysis. I just heard this on the radio tonight, it was read directly from the bill. This will give Washington the power to determine if treatment is viable (cost benefit analysis) for your mom or dad who is on Medicare, based on such things as age.

I agree ...it's a terrible situation. As we have in the past recessions the people of America, without the help of its government will rebound from this. Bankruptcy was setup for this exact reason, to help those who overspent or lost do to circumstances. To give them money would be a mistake because it wouldn't teach them anything. This bailout is a slap in the face to those of us who have sacrificed so much to pay our bills on time. This bailout says it's ok to totally disregard responsibility in the eyes of the people. If your child blew their allowance in 10 minutes on something silly, would you give them more money right there on the spot and blame their poor spending habits on the store where they purchased it? I completely understand how there should have been more stringent laws set in place on lenders. However, those people applied with false incomes and everything else. Let's examine this a little deeper, lets say a person brings home 2500.00 a month income and the house payment on the house they want is 2000.00 a month, should they buy it? Who would better know how much they can afford, the lender or the borrower? It's the borrowers responsibility plain and simply! Why can't you see that?

Yesterday I was in Lowe's and there was a fairly good crowd in there. I asked the cashiers how business was this weekend and they reply, "great now that this plan has gone through". I said, "wow, this was just what I expected from the Obama crowd. The spending you are seeing this weekend is not from the stimulus plan but because people got their tax money back. Of course they argued with me about that, so we can expect this looser and his following to lay claim on the increase in spending.

Monies made available under this plan are CONDITIONAL. If a state accepts funds then it MUST alter its employment laws in accordance with federal mandates PERMANENTLY. Even though the money is given over a three year period, the changes in the laws are FOREVER. Only NOW are governors starting to realize this. Talk about predatory lending practices! The very thing Obama and Co. have been flogging the mortgage industry over THEY are doing. No wonder there was such urgency to sign! READ THE BILL!!!

How is it that we blame others for our overspending? I use the term, "us," loosely, being I haven't the need for any bailout. We cannot blame the banks for this, it was people who knew they couldn't afford it yet borrowed anyway. That's like saying it's Budweiser's fault for someone drinking themselves to death. My degree is in Broadcast Engineering / Science Arts. I do not claim to be a Christian, even though my parents raised me to believe in God. I do believe in God, but I'm reluctant to title myself as Christian, when I see what the major of these people are doing under that title. Each of us has reasons for changes in our lives. In my case it was the Cradle Of Filth tour in Europe. The lead vocalist levitated off the stage without any help from LD's, SE or FOH. Seeing that made me know God is real!

There is no way they can say with confidence that evolution has played out the way they have speculated. Modern science states, if a theory cannot be contradicted, then it is excepted as fact, even if there are no real facts to back the theory. I always had a problem with the bibles account of how God created everything until college. "He spoke it into existence". So what is Obama doing, as predicted? He's penalizing harder work with higher taxes in disguise, and rewarding no work with tax credits to those who don't pay taxes in order to compensate those who put him in office. When he should be working to create long-term jobs and revive whole industries, he's using his "stimulus" to pay landscapers $200 million to re-seed the white house mall (this will take about a week), and allowing opportunities for steel production to be sent to china. i'm disgusted

The problem is the people who refuse to carry their own weight, couldn't care less who is president or what his policies are, and have their hand out for all they can get. These people are the ones who throw things off balance, because they're voting for issues that benefit themselves at the cost of other Americans, and at no risk. Don't own a home, but vote for higher property tax, don't work, but vote for higher income tax to fund more handouts. Who always pays the price? Working taxpayers.

A Betsy Mcoy (sp) wrote an article for Bloomberg - apparently the healthcare insertions into this bill, were recommendations from Dashelle's book pub last year. I THINK she referenced page 196 (think that is what she said). I understand the bill contains language such as "stringent penalties for docs". She stated that they did remove cost effective test (UK formula) for seniors. Now it is based on clinical effectiveness, what ever this means!!! Do your own due dilligence - this bill stinks

The bills health rules will affect every individual in the United States (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

With all due respect, I'd disagree that he was the best, but I believe his intentions were some of the truest and most admirable, regardless of possibly a few crooks in his administration that he gets the heat for. I think he was deceived into making some of the choices that he did, and that's a shame. I think very soon more people's respect for him will grow. I'm just now starting to feel bad for him and the disrespect he got when he left office. He didn't deserve it. We looked pretty childish.

I think transparency must mean "see through" which implies that it's invisible so it slides right through congress, and also hollow, which so far, everything proposed has been. In the most confident, booming, commanding voice Obama could muster, "This will be a different politics for a different time." Man that sounds great. Too bad it's so transparent.

The people that would understand what you're saying didn't vote for Obama. Plus, they're easily confused with details, and wouldn't see the relevance even if they did read it. You'd get something like this for a reply: "Well, it's Bush's fault we're in a war and I'm glad he's gone. You can't convince me any differently." Then they'd go back to watching Oprah or playing Playstation, not understanding or caring why we're in our situation or how to get out of it.

Avrilsdream, I have been titled a Republican by others in my industry. I am not a Republican, Dem-Crap, nor a Indy. I am for whoever can do it right. I was sickened by the Reps choice in McCain. I believe McCain has served this country well, however, his time has come and gone. Obama flat out, out talked McCain. Mitt Romney, I believe would have made a much better contender. I believe the change we need in America isn't going to come from our government. It's the people that need to change.

Couldn't agree more with each and every single word you've said, and I think either one of us would make ten times the president we have, simply because we recognize the problem, and that's the first step. Yes, I'd also agree that Obama out-acted McCain. McCain didn't get the memo that it was a popularity contest, an American Idol showdown, and had nothing to do with rationale, knowledge or experience. It was as pathetic an election as people are making the country; its products and culture.

Politics is a business. Each party is going to do what's best for them and dress the rhetoric in clothes that appeal to the target market of each, so it's pretty senseless to buy into one party or the other. However, from a conservative standpoint, this country is allowing its values upon which it was built and flourished for well over 200 years to be destroyed in return for false promises of more for less. More things for less money. More profit for less overhead. It all washes out in credit.

Avrilsdream, you hit the nail on the head with your replies. It's refreshing to see others responding to this problem. For a while there I was feeling like a political 5th wheel. It was like everyone had drank the cool-aid while I was on the road. I do FOH and studio engineering. My degree is in broadcast engineering / science arts so an economist I'm not. However, I do know what time it is so I'm not totally in the dark. I believe if more of us would speak out, we might see some real, "change".

Mixman, although l though I think your industry typically leans toward liberal, the "engineering" is the part that requires left-brain rationale and reflects your mentality. You probably like to take things apart and see what makes them tick, and have a passion for step-by-step problem solving. I wish more engineers and cause-and-effect thinkers would have voted, instead of new voters. They would have called Obama's bluff then, and would be holding his feet to the fire now, like we're doing.

We need to quit expecting more for less, which is the opposite of his promises that got Obama elected. We need to slow down, increase quality in our products, and win them back from (Japan). This goal is another light year away since Obama is allowing production of steel for our infrastructure to take place in China. He lost my respect that day, as he aborted potentially hundreds of thousands of sustainable jobs and the possibility of the revival of a whole industry due to haste and ignorance.

To add to my post below ... if they took the money they are spending in this package and divided it up between the American people, each family would receive right at 3000 dollars. To me, even that is better than spending billions on say, the census. HOW will that help our economy? It wont help at all. What it will do, is help the DemCraps set themselves up in office for years to come. They say they are trying to help us? Right ! They are using us for their own agenda, as they have always done.

Most liberals are idealists. They have a right-brain mentality, which is fine, but not in politics. They appeal to their supporters by hiding agenda behind what sounds great, but without the analytical left-brain thinking of a conservative, and without an understanding of economics or finance, they're left with a flowery, utopian picture that they sell to the masses, that they don't know how to achieve, even if they intended to follow through after election. Just more politics in disguise.

The whole economy has been inflated (as have people's egos) because of credit. Until now, you could drive any car you wanted as long as you made a few hundred a week. The car as a status symbol is a thing of the past, and they've become disposable as they're replaced every couple years. So the American automakers respond by putting as little money as possible into their manufacture. And encouraging people to buy what has become disposable is going to "fix" something? It will just make it worse.

The whole problem started with credit with regards to ignorance and greed; people not understanding credit (consumer), or taking advantage of credit (corporate). Spending and debt surpassed income, and it became the banks' problem. Now it's our problem. The only way out is to readjust our standards, and realize that if we don't have the money for a new car or home, and won't for five years, we should save. There's no "jolt" as Obama calls it, that will fix things. We have created this.

I understand that most of the jobs that will be created are non skilled labor, and will only last as long as the gov contract lasts, this is work, not jobs. It will cost and estimated $300,000 per job too.

32% of this bill is payback to special interests for the election. ACORN get $4 billion. Also burring in this bill is socialized medicine. Washington will oversee heathcare, applying a UK formula (socialized) to do cost benefit analysis. I just heard this on the radio tonight, it was read directly from the bill. This will give Washington the power to determine if treatment is viable (cost benefit analysis) for your mom or dad who is on Medicare, based on such things as age.
