this is a beautiful (but somehow depressing song) and it's been put to a beautiful video. i have never seen phantom of the opera (but i plan to in the near future), so i think the song goes perfectly with the images from peter pan. nice job alan888!

I had a huge crush on Jeremy Sumpter (Peter Pan) when I was a kid after seeing this movie. Now I just think he's too adorable. If I have a son ever, I want him to look like him.

Phantom was a totally epic movie, my second favourite film ever after 'Gone with the Wind'.

@liz775 I agree this song fits best with Phantom because that's what it was made for and Peter really isn't all that lonely. He has Tink, the lost boys, the pirates, he has lots of stuff that makes him happy. The loneliness in the song isn't just being alone it's about never being loved. Peter while being a good person to use the song on doesn't fit the song as well as Erik.

For the ones that are confused, this song is a soundtrack for The Phantom of the Opera, you can hear it on the credits, that's why everyone say it was meant for Eric. There is also a removed scene from the movie with the same melody, but different lyrics, called "No one would listen" =)

This song is meant to represent strictly and only Erik or as almost everyone else calls him The Phantom of the Opera. Because like sissey24 said he was alone most of his life and the song says that eve nthough he was never loved by Christine except through that beautiful kiss and it was the kind of love that runs strongly and deeply but the Victome ruined it. It's telling that even though our dear dear Erik's lonely he should learn to be happy at least in his loneliness.

But here's a quote from the movie that pretty much sums up how lonely the boy really is. :'( "Peter Pan had countless joys that other children could never know..... but he was looking at the one joy from which he must be forever barred" Family. He could pretend that he and Wendy were mother and father and the lost boys were their children, but that's it he can only pretend, his whole life he pretends. And all his friends abandon him.

this song is ment to represent Eric Im pretty sure.. by Eric I mean the phantom... because he was alone almost all of his life and the song is saying that even though he was never loved besides by Christine and even that was a father daughter kind of love he should keep his spirits high or atleast.. try.. on a side note Minnie Driver had a lovely voice ;) :)

This is a great ballad and its use is more appropriate here then it was in the Phantom movie. In Phantom, it was added on in the closing credits and its sole purpose was so that Andrew L Webber could make that movie qualify for an award competition that demanded a new song in the movie. This ballad in no way fits into Phantom, as lovely as it otherwise is.

The problem with a movie like Phantom, is that it's going to be compared to the Crawford/Brightman version, the original stage version. But if you can watch it without prejudice, it's an excellent movie, and the singing is quite good. The gal who playes Christine (I forget her name) was excellent.

I wish Josh Groban was old enough to have played a part in it though...
