My favorite Paso Doble ending. Laila Ali represents what this show USED to be about...people with NO dance talent being turned into dancers. I still think she should have won. Their passion and chemistry was hot and right through the roof.

@blkchk Yes, you're right. When people like Sabrina, Nicole, and Jennifer are on the show...well, I'm sorry but they DO have previous dance experience. Maybe it's not Latin or ballroom, but I think it makes a difference.

Maks is a genius. He carried this entire dance and the music complemented his choreography so well. I loved the fact that he incorporated boxing punches into the routine as well, to highlight Laila's profession. I would have loved to see him perform this with Mel B or even Mya. Nope scratch that. Mya was Dmitry's girl.LOL. Suffice it to say, this by Max was a job well done.

I disagree that this was the best Paso of any season. I think it was beautiful and Laila is beautiful...but there's something to be said for chemistry between the dancers and Mel B and Maks from season 5 did two AMAZING Paso Dobles.

Thank you to the person who explained it before. Clearly Maks did call himself a "big ass chicken" because he was the one that messed up the routine. The truth is I believe that Maks loved Laila too much to say that kind of thing to her. Maks has uttered harsh words about other dancers but not about Laila. Their relationship is one of the best ever seen on DWTS and the words Maks said about her were some of the most beautiful ever heard on that show.

This paso doble was the best of the season, fabulous. They're such a hot couple and they're winners in my eyes, who cares what the judges or the audience says. I never believe it's completely legal anyway. Maks is the most popular dancer right now and god isn't he HOT!! I loved their behind the scenes and rehearsals, they seemed so honest and caring, hard working too, suh a chemistry. Maks is the best and hottest teacher of the show. Perfect match.

He also said that dancing with Laila was probably the best experience of his life, he also said every moment beautiful in referring to spending time with Laila, he also said he's a part of Laila's life. He said those things and many, many other good things. Sometimes people get angry, that's called life. They also get over it too.

What I think happened is that she accidentally hit him while they were practicing the last part of the Paso. He was probably nervous about it (wouldn't you be if Laila Ali was throwing a punch at you?) and ducked or moved when he shouldn't have. That's why he called himself a big ass chicken.

I agree. I just read an interview Maks gave for a NJ paper. He mentions Laila's injuries (many) and that he toned down his choreography to accomodate her. He also said that if Laila couldn't win DWTS, he couldn't see any other woman winning. He has alot of respect for her and her work ethic. They were the best IMO.

Looking at Maks and Laila dances, she really was progressive. Joey and Apolo did not develop basic ballroom steps. Julianne and Kym covered their shortcomings with lifts and spins. That was about as close to perfection as you can come on DWTS. Magnificent and gorgeous. Mak finally gave Laila and himself the sort of dance they've been bypassing all season long.

I loved that, and I'm sorry, but if those 'judges', I use the term loosely, could give Polo's and Yoey's utter travesties of freestyles 30s, this deserved a 60 at least.

These were the true champions.

No doubts about Laila. The doubt: Maks's ability to lift her. In rehearsal he held Laila with one arm -- she trusted him. In the freestyle, he proved them [naysayers] wrong. Now, I will not speak about anything improper between Maks and Laila. About Curtis, I do not know his heart. I do know, love is skin deep, looks fade, and it is all about the heart. Love is more than attraction and feelings are deceitful. I wish Curtis and his beautiful Laila the very best.
