  • Nice work. There are instructional videos on how you can make your own set and fire on the "primitiveskills" channel.

  • that would be funny if he put his knee in the cole

  • can you use any wood to spin fire?

  • U need to wash yo feet dogg

  • i make plenty of black dust but its nvr smoking like urs or other vids. maybe its not hot enough? whats my problem??

  • DIE FAG DIE

  • thats the fattest amber iv ever seen what is your fire board and your spindal's material??? im using sage fireboard and a sage spindle and a juniper bow

  • gay

  • I'd laugh if he set his foot on fire

  • I have HUGE respect for anyone who can do this.

  • WTF R U GAY

  • @RKO805PimpRonnie So what if he is gay? Being gay doesnt have anything to do with being able to survive in the wild or start a fire with a bow drill.

  • what kind of wood did u use?

  • makes me want to take some violin lessons.

  • I AM MAN,I...HAVE MADE FIRE!

  • @Warzonemerc You want a wood with low sap conent, sap acts as lube and thats bad.It also is best to have a wood that doesn't have much of a grain, knots are bad too.It also needs to be dry for ease and quickness.Pine might be bad,i think it has a farely large amount of sap.

  • what wood is best to make one of these? pine suitable?

  • I guess you ran out of film in your Super 8 camera so you couldn't actually show the fire!

  • hey what kind wood you using? im trying find some out local woods

  • is he gay?

  • your handhold is shit.

  • flame bursts forth??

  • Good work! I like the hobbit type foot of yours!

  • Alexis???

  • Shoes, man. Shoes.

  • artisan Tony your a complete and utter retard

  • @ArtisanTony Its good to have the knowledge, and theres more to it than just a hole in the fire board, you have to also cut a noch in a V shape that catches the ember.I do however carry a zippo about everywhere I go,but theres always a chance, small it may be that it will come in handy.

  • So, where is the fire?

  • cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • real men dont wear shoes >:D

  • @diddydawg11 Get a bad case of jungle rot and you wouldnt say that.

  • it was a joke lol look at the guy in the videos feet, but i agree with you though

  • @diddydawg11 HELL YEAH!!

  • WOW!!! You've got survival skillz baby!!! that is sooo cool and makes you sooo hot too!!! lol!! I'm gonna find out how to make me one of those babies n start me a fire too!!! :0) Happy trails!!

  • maybe he doesnt want to

  • crappy cameraman!!

  • he sounds like hermy from Rudolph

  • lmao he really does!

  • ill remember this, i know some tricks but new ones are always good to, thanks man.

  • hhmmmmm

  • where did the flame go? i know it was there!!!

  • lmao, the flamethrower at the end

  • i used this method daily for 71 days in the mountains of utah.

  • nice vid

  • Excellent Demo!

  • I never saw an open flame at the end, but that was really fast. Very good video.

  • You weren't holding the cord with the proper grip.

Explains why your spindle began to squeak and loose momentum and friction near the end

  • Well he got it lit... in very little time... screw his form, as long his method works. What interests me, is the width of the spindle. I think thats a very important part of the method used here, and overlooked by most people who try to employ this method.

  • at the end of the sipndle that needs to burn needs to be rounder and more flat then the other side because the more surface area that turning the more dust and heat and that means a faster coal

  • good video.

  • Everytime I see a fireboard its already used. If you're making a new set (spindle bow etc) how do you use the fireboard? Do you make indents, cut a little bit into it to make the hole, or just start flat? Thanks for any help.

  • make an indent with your knife then spin slow to burn and make a better place for it to spin, once you have that done make the notch and the spin faster

  • Thanks, I appreciate the reply.

  • nearly mate, should have the top of your drill really thin to lower drag if your using a wood bearing, I use limpet shells but if i dont have them I put a slug in the bearing to help lubricate it also leaves are crap for catching from an ember, dry thin grass, good luck

  • you can use vaseline, or finger to the side of your nose to get a little natural lubricant. You can start fire without it, but a little helps.

  • do you lubricate the hand hold?
