George was somewhat overshadowed by Johhny and Paul, I'd say he had the best voice out of all of them and his songs, like this one, had a kind of nostalgic feel about them.....nice one!!
The single most profoundly nostalgic song rock has produced IMO. I was a bit late for the Beatles revolution but in the 70s we were still huge fans. Something about this song just blasts right to the core of-simpler time is probably too cliched-but certainly a newer time. Rock was still young, probably late teen years figuratively speaking. And sometime about this song just pulls you right into that mood-flavor & vibe. Thanks for sharing, bittersweet-heavy on the sweet-nostalgia! Peace!
He wrote this as his own "quiet beatle" response to johns death.....God it so has that Beatle sound doesnt it??? Especially at the end...Very....transcendental
I worked on this video, that is to say I helped to produce the body cast we made of George in our workshop, (Lyons Model FX) in Bristol in the 80's. Godley and Creme directed it, they all came down to Bristol for George to have a plaster cast made of his torso, now of course we would do it all with CGI.
Does anyone else find the words odd after hearing the 'Paul is Dead' rumour?
This is now freaking my mind out in a totally new way after seeing a film just made about it all.... I was far too little when all this was talked about but just listening to this song freaked me out.
paulreallyisdead . and the com word and see for yourself O,o
I realize this is about the beatles and everything but did he mention Pattie in this? because he said "you were my only love" and "it's all over now baby blue" and pattie had baby blue eyes, i don't know i was just thinking out loud but if someone wants to correct me or something go right ahead.
esta canciobn se desprendio del album CLOUD 9...una obra maestra y como dijo Casey Kasem: esta cancion debio haber llegado a los top ten pero nunca llego.
@MyDreamside Probably being slangy. In spoken English that often happens. Saying it this way makes it sound more working class--which is what at least George & Ringo started out as. Paul & John were from more middle-class backgrounds. Some would even say Ringo grew up poor rather than working class. Of the Fab 4 he certainly had the most financially strapped childhood.
@MarekillaBee I think you are absolutely right, the guy walking by looks just like John and is holding one of his books or a picture of John with his son. Gotta love all the Beatle references in this video haha.
@dubbly1 Paul was the Walrus. In this video and in I Am the Walrus the walrus is playing a bass left-handed. In Glass Onion, there is a lyric, "Well here's another clue for you all, The walrus was Paul." .
Very cool song!1
