No, this isn't one of the coolest songs ever written. An original absolute classic, especially the hooks and breaks. If I could write one song like this I would lose my mind!! (Or maybe gain it back...) It's sci-fi inspired by the seeking of the stars at the time. A great time to be alive!!

this is probably to reflect that he IS major tom and that he's leaving behind his humanity (thus becoming ziggy stardust), when his first album came out he had eyebrows i believe his transformation came when he was performing this song and then wrote other space songs like 'the spiders from mars'
