This was pretty much an exact reversal of the 1993 Playoff series between these teams. Both teams finished with the same record that year, Houston was #2 and Seattle was #3. That year home court went to Seattle because of a better head to head record against Houston. In1997 it was the same thing just the other way around. Its pretty ironic if you think about it.
@joekiddlouischama Not in Seattle it wasn't. I remember that it was supposed to be on tnt but in Seattle the home games were blacked out on that channel-both regular season and playoff home games. If you wanted to watch the game on tv you had to pay the cable company extra to watch Sonics home games on Pay per view. I was mad because that could have been the Sonics last game of the season and I would have missed it.
the rockets had home-court because the top 2 spots cannot be occupied by one division. Since Utah (midwest division) had the best record in the west, they were #1. the #2 spots went to the sonics because they're in the pacific division based on what i stated in the beginning. The rockets had home-court because, although they had the same record as the sonics, the rockets had a better record heads up against the sonics.
if you look at that rookie season he had, he made all-nba rookie 2nd team along with Kobe bryant and ray allen...i wouldn't call that worst PG ever...im sure you can a pg worst than maloney.
maloney was a good player he had a good touch from the outside, the only reason he is not the league ne more because of health issue and he had a big head cause of his frist two years in the league, he forgot the fact all he had was shooting and good decison making
Wrong .... they won 61 games the very next year after trading Kemp for Vin Baker. Only problem was they got destroyed by the Lakers in the second round of the playoffs.
That '98 team was scary. They even beat the Bulls that season. However, they lost to the Lakers in the semifinals 4 games to 1. And they lost the series at home.
I think you mean the 97 team was scary, and they lost at home to the Jazz, not the Lakers in the Conference finals. But yes, they were very good, and this was an awesome series to watch.
I've been a Rockets fans since 1979 and it just doesn't feel right not having the Sonics in Seattle.

what i love about the NBA on NBC intros is that they could seriously get anyone hyped for just middle school basketball games lol.

Don't worry Seattle, you'll get an NBA team soon enough... It's unfortunate, Sonics had so much rich history in Seattle.

Seattle was the #2 seed, yet the Rockets got home-court advantage for game 7?

It was a huge mistake the rockets didn't close out the series in 5 or 6 games, you can tell they were exhausted against Utah in the conference finals

My mistake, I thought you were referring to the rockets not the sonics.

because Jim MacIlvaine was purposefully fucking up the team.
