Great video presentation, and from what research I have done, most of what you presented could be true. Robert quit playing in local juke joints and left for more than a year. When he came back he could play well. That and his lyrics being about the devil etc. fed the rumor of the crossroad encounter with Satan.

But an aspiring guitarist singer could go woodshed for a year and make dramatic improvements, crossroads or no crossroads.

@lion4e Vevo has nothing to do with it, Sony music owns this song. So they put together a little video and submitted it to vevo. Every time you watch it an ad plays and Sony makes a little money. A portion of that money however goes to Robert Johnson's estate. So I agree the song didn't need a video. But I feel a little better knowing that Robert's Grandkids are getting some money for his music, because he probably made very little money for his work at the time.
