When income tax was initially enacted, it was to pay for the first world war...and it was supposed to NEVER exceed 10% of someone's income. The tax was supposed to cease once the war ended. Obviously this never occurred. Now it is COMPLETELY out of control and we end up paying more than 50% of our income when you consider all the taxes. INCOME tax, SALES tax, PROPERTY tax....just to name a few.

The purpose of taxes is to support your federal government, so that way it can pay state employees, fix roads, fund scientific projects, pay for education, and fund the military, as well provide emergency support for states that suffer natural disasters. Being for lower taxes or no taxes deprives the everyone of government services. If you are for no or less taxes then you might as well suggest communism. Since no one does anything for free.

@slicingwater I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about. When income tax was initially enacted, it was to pay for the first world war...and it was supposed to NEVER exceed 10% of someone's income. The tax was supposed to cease once the war ended. Obviously this never occurred. Now it is COMPLETELY out of control and we end up paying more than 50% of our income when you consider all the taxes. INCOME tax, SALES tax, PROPERTY tax....just to name a few.

@slicingwater Education was run by the private sector before being "taken over" by the government who indoctrinates and brainwashes the students. Government run institutions are always failures when you consider the amount of corruption and waste as compared to the private sector. The DOE has been just another failed government agency. The cost of the DOE has increased exponentially without yielding any significant gains. The money is just put through a "government money filter".

Just for an example, the department of agriculture has over 100,000 employees. A large part of this department is to distribute funds to wealthy farmers for NOT growing crops. This is just one department of the federal government. We have FAR FAR too many government employees. We have redundant agencies and departments throughout the government which is one of the reasons we have so much waste. Once created, these government entities never seem to be eliminated.

There were even numerous demonstrations from CANADIAN citizens who opposed Obama's H.C. from being enacted. The only results of having government run healthcare will be more corruption and waste through ANOTHER FAILED GOVERNMENT PROGRAM....of which there are too many to list.
