  • Another work of art by the pumpkins. This song is just epic. To listen to this song and not be able to feel how it moves your soul Would just make me shake my head. I listen to the pumpkins and wish I could just live in their music. Its is just so awesome.

  • One of my favorite s/p songs!! Love u daddy!

  • スマパンはこの頃が一番なの!

  • This album was Smashing Pumpkins OPUS!!!

  • @DavidJY1970 The Pumpkins are one of the few bands to actually have an opus. They are one of even fewer bands to have TWO: Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream. Deciding between those two is like deciding which of your lungs you like better.

  • the smashing pumpkins rock!

  • the month that i took opiates fand listened to mellon collie both for the first time changed my life forever.

  • I was 7 when this album came out.I am glad I listened to all the great music then. It has left an everlasting impact on me still to this day at 23.

  • This is my favorite ending...soo intense

  • This was a favorite during my angst years

  • Wow...BC at his peak....

  • dont think they were underrated they were the best band of the 90s nirvana were good to but pumpkins much better musicians

  • @blacksabbath812 Kurt is very cool and we all love him very much, but musicaly the pumpkins are beyond, they are on difrent level, listen to this!! and this is not even a single!!! way buy the way?? This is epic!!!! This is like a praying!!!! only with the difrence that it allways works!!! I can belive jimmys drumming!! how fucking good they where!!!

  • Pure Greatness

  • Most underrated band of the 90's! Just magical!

  • @t3nsors People u now that they say?? They say when you r to face god and answer for your sins, you dont need to explain or beg for forgivenes u dont have to say shit!. U just hang him this record and u wiil b forgiven from all the stupid shit you did on earth!! Thats what i m doing man, fuck words!! Absolution is right here!! Try that!!

  • My sister got me into the pumpkins when i was about 12, I havent listened to them for a good 10 years now but watching this just takes me back. this is easily one of their best songs

  • I would do anything to experience the mellon collie era again!

  • if anyone was wondering what incredible drumming sounds like...

  • this is essential

  • Best song and performance by my favorite band. :)

  • best of the 90s by along way

  • James rips this shit up.

  • @nick16watt Same for me almost to a "T". Same age and same love for this band. Back when MTV was awesome and played their videos along with sound garden and stp.

  • i saw them with Matt Walker playing drums, shortly after they hired him and resumed the Mellon Collie tour. Being an amateur drummer myself, with a good ear, I was absolutely astounded at the accuracy with which Matt played this song in particular. The extended drum/bass/noise at the end, which is faded out on the album, went on for a very long time... I wish I could go back and experience it again.

  • Through the eyes of awesome

  • Does anyone notice when he says "and if you spin your love around" it sounds exactly the same as when he says "and in my mind, im everyone" in porcelina and the vast oceans? I noticed that when listening to the album :D

  • OMG how epic is the ending? Fucking amazing.

  • Somebody dare tell me that 6:46 till the end doesn't ROCK YOUR SOCK OFF!?! Epic performance. . .

  • i have no problem dedicating 8:47 to watch this.

  • lol Ravioli always, drag me in the Mayonaise, yeah.

  • THE NIGHT HAS COME TO HOLD US YOUNG!

Is there ANYTHING else to say?

That's been my personal hymn thru my entyre teenage-dying-days phase, till my early 20's... This band has saved my life!

  • Also I'm forever part of your fan base

  • Simply Extraodinary. I'm that now 58 year old die hard fan. I live in Hi But was born and raised in Milwaukee. 25 yr. Navy capt. Wife,. Then a single mom of 2. I had tickets to an LA gig but my sister in Milwaukee was diagnosed with so much cancer, before she died she left me a small estate and the promise I would see you guys. I did that Summerfest 1998, in WI. It was the only time I ever left my kids to this day. The concert was beyond what I could have imagined. Thanks for one great

  • Let's face it, MCIS is one of the best albums produced in our time. This song is incredible and will forever resonate as one of the anthems of my life. For you young guys, check out the live versions of "Behold The Nightmare", "Crush", and "Stumbeliene". You'll redefine your thoughts of great music.

  • SHIT I LOST MY V CARD WITH THIS SONG

  • The main riff to this song has way more drive when there's more than one guitar playing the riff.

  • what a tune.

  • The Pumpkins are my favourite band of all time, Thru the Eyes of Ruby is my favourite song of all time and this is my favourite version of the song of all time=)

I remember taping it back in the day when it was on TV.

Mellon Collie tour was the first time I saw them live and till this day it is the best music experience of my life. Followed closley by shaking Billy's hand at a 400 person acoustic gig.

  • when I was 6 - I heard 1979 on the radio twice in a row and I fell in love w the song. It wasn't for another 10 years that I would discover what the name of the song was or the amazing band that wrote it...

  • I'm only 17, and I've had 2 go back and discover all of SP's great music. I thought I had already heard all of their best songs until I found this amazing song. Another thing I've noticed is that SP always plays their songs faster and better live than in studio.

  • @GAdawgsfan93 There's an incredible live version of "An Ode To No One" floating around, it was on one of their DVDs. This song is on youtube, and when you find it, check out Billy and Jimmy (drummer) looking at each other during the first few bars. They don't speak, but their looks could almost say, "Fuck, this is gonna be fast!"

  • @tristessa1975 i just fucking watched it , the wink says it all!!

  • @tristessa1975 that's none other but the version from their "last concert" at the Metro

  • james's solo always gives me chills

  • anybody got the full show?

  • @DGENERATE07

yes , u can download it at emule ... i have that :D

  • @Whittino1986 awesome :]

  • the mellon collie tour was the first concert i ever went to. probably the loudest crowd i've ever heard at a show. they were the best band in the world at this particular time. gotta love it.

  • This is one of the best live Smashing Pumpkins performances that I have ever seen. I used to have this on VHS a long time ago. Hands down the best live version of Ruby ever.

  • chamberlin's like god on steroids back there!

  • D'arcy was hot!

  • if this shit came out in the 70s theyd be more popular than zep

  • @clarkkent69xxx Definitely... I could easily see myself tripping balls on acid listening to this in a crowd.

Actually... if SP comes back to Chicago I'm gonna do that.

  • easily the best band of the 90s happy days long gone

  • there is a live version of love?

  • the lyrics, the band at this time, this moment and the breakdown bit (you know what i mean if u know the pumpkins and know this song) will never leave me, even if i'm under water trying to breathe, trying to find my love my when it's gone or trying hard to see a better life than ever when i'm facing my darkest fears. belief is just a faith

  • the golden age of Pumpkins

  • Are there any Live Smashing Pumpkins recordings? Wikipedia says you can only get them on rare releases or the Rarities/B-sides CD; surely theres some other way.. Thanks!

  • Best version on youtube. Hands down.

  • This, Soma and Porcelina... are pretty much my definitions of "Epic" when it comes to music.

  • Orgasmic

  • great

  • One of my favorite Pumpkins songs ever... gorgeously played.

  • Iha melted that shit

  • Even at the age of five, I can honestly say that I knew of the Pumpkins' greatness. This album got me into music altogether. It was a great time for me to be a kid. I can remember all that shit. I loved the culture. I had a Mellon Collie sticker on my lunchbox. This song is incredible.

  • @Tronathan918 My dad had Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness and listened to it when I was 7 when it just came out, and it's stuck with me since. I know exactly how you feel.

  • hell yeahhhhhhhhh!!

  • Darcy is 100% hot in this video. Oh, and Billy has no hair. WTF?

  • OMG! What has happened to music in the last 20 years is so sad! Glad I was a part of this. Alternative music and prog rock from 89 to 96 ruled!

  • caught them once in Newport, Va in '96 ... gutted they didn't play this

  • SO EPIC

  • Yes point taken, lay off the caffine win tubbin know what i mean I guess I'll just say was surprised by Zeitgeist best work since Simease Dream i thought,it was kind of random for awhile adored first 3 records, then some B-sides,but overall argueably top in alternative bands, any clearer?Personally W /Alice In Chaines,Tool,TheCure,Perfect Circle that 5 come to mind soon as i post another 5 will come to mind oh i don't care how this reads their random thoughts right?

  • @jimhearon what?

  • best song off meloncholy,I hate talking about that album or cd or whatever generation your from,Tonight, tonight 79' maybe bullet, raw classic Gish, undiscovered Piecies iscariot, all time top 5 alternative clihche Simease Dream(but it was),then fewer and further between except this b-sides,somehow I did like the last one, apologize to hardcore pumpkin's fan's not trying to be condescending

  • @jimhearon wat

  • That was just beyond epic. Completely amazing progressive masterpiece.

  • Billy has no hair

  • I LOVE YOU, PUMPKINS...!!!!

  • Awesome, this is fucking formidable musicianship!

  • One of my favourites...

  • I love this song!!!!

    greatest band ever!!!

    TSP greatest band ever!

  • one of the best songs ever

  • My god..what other band nowadays has the same intensity, anger and awesomeness as SP.going to wear my zero shirt to sleep tonite

  • damnit this needs more shots of d'arcy!

  • amazing vid. this is when the pumpkins truly WERE the pumpkins. not like now...

  • they used to have an amazing spirit together

  • And another great song hidden between hit songs My Opinion Best song on Melloncohly

  • r u kidding me? this is rock and roll!

  • AAAh 1994 or 95??? "State" in Downtown Detroit 2000 people for the melloncollie tour. The first night was at the Palice and they moved it to a smaller venue! I was their!! Garbage opened up for them. What a show. at Times I looked around and saw more legs in the air then heads!!

  • "To the revelations of fresh faced youth. No one will come to save you. So speak your peace in the murmurs drawn, but youth is wasted on the young. Your strength is my weakness, your weakness my hate. My love for you just can't explain why we're forever fr...ozen, forever beautiful, forever lost inside ourselves. The night has come to hold us young."

    Those are some kickass lyrics.

  • My favorite Smashing Pumpkins song... Man, I wish I was old enough to have seen them in concert when this was recorded.

  • 3 people in this world can suck on my nuts

  • I want the 90s back

  • There is another sound in the background, apart from the bass, drums and guitars. Question: is it symph or some other guitar effect? Help appreciated.

  • @GeeCulverin

could be a double track of the guitar riff with some different settings, maybe lesds treble, is this what you mean?

  • @GeeCulverin It's a symph played by Jonathan Melvoin, who died a few months later

  • Un be f% lievable

  • I always thought Darcy was a hottie

  • This sounds really great and "heavy", although there are only two guitars on stage.

The studio version has about 70 (!) guitar tracks on it and is one of the best pieces of music ever recorded, in my opinion!

  • Holy crap!!! They showed some metal here!

  • @kt3399 Hell yeah....check out Geek U.S.A...it's got some metal in it too.

  • Billy and James the kings of Big Muff Pedals

  • The lyrics to this song have to be Billys best. Such an amazing song both lyric and sound.

  • @IansUnknownArt I share your opinion on this song.

  • I believe in never and I believe in all the way

But belief is not to notice, belief is just some faith

And faith can't help you to escape

  • @skiingpaul73 they're noobs to anything...

  • Do you have a source for that statement? I googled it and there's nothing about it.

  • Well done dipshit, aren't you captain obvious!

why dont you try and say something that isn't just utter shit and possibly add something constructive?

  • i know they had to kick jimmy for a period but ffs that really did hurt their sound this must be their best era and b4 ofc :)

  • Billy has a Mutron Bi-Phase and a EHX Big Muff at least, proberbly something more aswell, but that should do the trick.
