  • omg the butterfly ):

  • oh my amd motherboard , so cool!!!

  • would this make a good gaming server motherboard?

  • for a media center is the way to go. Low power, quiet and CHEAP!

    Plus tiny and coolrunning.

AND it can play games, though at low settings but the option is there, unlike Atom.

    Love it.

  • I am about to pull trigger on e-350 for htpc. Will it handle bluray playback or write?

Or is it just better getting micro atx board + phenom ii x2 560 be for about $40 more?

  • @hsh24892

Phenom II is a great chip but the integrated graphics will be different.

If you want gaming go for the phenom.

Great thing is you can replace the 560 with a x4 or even a x6 chip which is just awesome.

The E350 you cant upgrade but if you want to make a media PC only this runs quiet, cool, economic but powerful for HD1080 AND FLASH playback.

So if you want to game go for the 560.

If for quiet media PC go E350.

    OK?

  • Eat that Intel!

  • It needs to be reworked a lot as a platform, I shall say. It indeed outperforms the best Intel offerings in the low-mid-range, but the fact it can't be combined with the top-notch AMD Radeon cards hinders this platform's capabilites. And the APUs were, in power and benchmarks, inferior to the Athlon IIs they are intended to replace in the near future. Same is going on with the Bulldozers compared to the i5 and i7 chips from Intel. But as long as AMD keeps the prices down, it's still a deal.

  • the cats in the background is distracting. should not play that intill you need it.

  • can you change the processer to a faster one if you buya new viedo card?

  • Intel Atom Sucks shit.

  • @leonxwerty It doesn't suck, specially in ION or ION 2 versions. It's just that you want to squeeze a lot from a chip that was originally intended for basic tasks. If it's as expensive as a FM1, it's because originally it wasn't intended to be sold via retailers as a kit/SoC. However, the mobile versions of Atoms are shit indeed.

  • @leonxwerty Have you seen how small it is? LOL it's clearly designed to be small and not perform and even then it runs most things just fine, designed for netbooks if your using those for anything that needs more than an atom then you need a new PC.

  • @THExR3ALxABC  Netbooks? Really? They suck even more. At lease the AMD Platform is great in terms of it require performance.

  • @leonxwerty They are both good platforms of which to run a computer from, it's personal preference really. Netbooks aren't designed for performance they are designed to get a job done which they do, it's easier to bring a netbook around than a full PC right?

  • @leonxwerty yes indeed, i had a notebook with atom, worked like crap. I opend it and my keyboard didnt worked (my own fault) and brought it back to the stor and got my money back.

    NICE ;)

  • 2:45 The asus e35m1-m matx motherboard has a 2xpcix16 expansion slot. I assume that there would not be much point installing a gaming card in this motherboard considering it only has a 1.6 processor on the motherboard and also that the purpose of these low speed apu's is for video. So what would the buyer use that slot for?

    Any information appreciated thanks

  • @TableWolfMusic There are more than just video cards that use PCIe x16 slots. Also it is possible to plug in a x1 and such into a x16 slot.

  • @kolton5543 Yeah you're right. :) Since I wrote that comment I have seen pci-e solid state hard drives reviewed by ncix or linustechtips but these are only for the x1 slots which seems like a bit of a waste for the 16x slot. I know one can get a rocketraid full 16x slot card for adding sata cable hdd's. However, is there a super fast 16x version of the solid state storage devices? That would be cool.

  • I read that this AMD APU can have trouble with 1080P full screen sometimes from reviews. I went with the Intel DQ67EPB3 mini itx mobo. Just ordered it so its on its way.

  • AMD can play HD movie with cats!

  • I just bought a AMD E-350 laptop and i'm happy with it. It produces almost no heat that barely makes the cpu-fan run. Besides that. HP provides an underclock feature for "energy saver" mode which runs the cpu at 800 Mhz and i'm still able to run 1080p youtube videos with no single problems.

    Excellent product.

  • geez luv those cats :3

  • Can't concentrate with those awesome cats in the back :D

  • I have the Acer Aspire 5253 with the AMD Dual-Core E-350 processor, AMD Radeon HD 63310 and 3GB of ram and I can play Call of Duty 4 multiplayer with textures set to extra, resolution of 1366x768 and trilinear filtering on. I can also play Borderlands (this game is a process whore) it uses a GB of ram to run on lowest settings (and i mean lowest....640x480) but if you play at the lowest settings, I don't get any lag, any changes to the settings and it lags forever.

  • is AMD e350/e450 with HD 6310/6320 256Mb better than an Intel 2nd Gen. i3 with Nvidia GT540 1GHz ???

  • Lol omg. Near the end while he was talking i was only paying attention to BBB in the background. Its so sad hahah. Fuckin Squirels.

  • AMD FUSION E-350, GAME PROTOTYPE FULL HD : )

  • AMD FUSION E-350 THE BEST,THANKS FROM CHILI

  • Intel graphics suck.

  • 3:10. Thats alot of sluts.

  • If you disable Aero in windows 7, does 1080p Youtube still work optimally?

  • So is this good for an HTPC? I wanted to make an HTPC that would run HD Youtube videos, Hulu Plus, Blu Ray Movies, Netflix, Crackle, and maybe just simple web surfing. That should be all of it, maybe even stream HD video with a TV Tuner.

  • @Destroysall yes, the e350 is sufficient for 1080p playback.

  • @oHailPrestoNl sweet, thank you!

  • @Destroysall Yes the AMD E350 has enough power to run HD Vids

  • I see a pussy......cat

  • Great review!

  • I just got this MB for my future build will upload a video on it soon..^^

items are ordred and on the way ,. Yay

  • @SimpleFire100 you should have gotten a samsung f3

  • @SimpleFire100 Buy a SSD 60 GB Vertex 20 seconds till u can work on your Desktop ;=)

  • mini ITX motherboard?

  • Why is that better than my computer :'(

  • hey for the gigabyte board ga e350n usb3 can it run with a 65 or 90 watt psu. Because i want to buy an antec mini skeleton case and it only has 90 watts. Will it work?

  • As usual awesome review!!! Good job Linus :)

  • Does the cat come with the board ?

  • CAN I USE AN I3 2100 W/ 2X6850 AND EXPECT IT NOT TO BOTTLENECK MUCH?

  • @WoWkiddymage

You'll do fine for a few years since it's even more powerful than the AMD Phenom II X4 955, which is a quad core.

  • How much watt psu did you use cause i want an antec mini skeleton but it is only 90Watts

  • @computerpingu 90 Watts is enough for this system. Just don't go hooking up a ton of hard drives :)

  • @foobarturkey so if i only have 2 hard drives, that motherboard, and a dvd drive and 4gb ddr3 memory do you think it is enough??

  • @computerpingu Yea, I'd estimate that that load would be around 60 watts at max load

  • Linus should make more vids of these APUs

  • pause the video, play the video, HOLD 7

  • You guys should scrap a gtx580 to them and tell us which one actually is better.

  • Who of you were distracted by big buck bunny's movie?

  • Can it run source games?

  • Kitteh :D

  • my computer had trouble playing the video playing the video of the bunny. : /

  • ncix is awesome!

  • but will it run MINECRAFT!!!

  • My hardware doesn't limit my youtube experience, my internet connection does.

  • @TeraBrit I hear you on that one

  • @TeraBrit Very well said my man...

  • @TeraBrit "This is a video of my cat.." *video stops while it loads*

  • most pointless system: Atom N450 with a GTX590

  • @nelizmastr you're wrong..

that system is pretty efficient campared to atom n450, 1200 watt quatro, 4x 580 in sli, 24 gb of memory, 16 ssd's in raid 0, high end water cooling system, and a dvd drive.

but i don't think there's a atom platform motherboard on the market that does suports features like sli, 16 sata 6 ports and 6 ram slots.

  • @joeldesmit not talking about efficient here. its just pointless. bottleneck ftw.

  • @nelizmastr exactly

  • Thank you soo much for covering this. I have been wondering what they could actually do please give more info if possible

  • Will all three of those mini itx play blu-ray/1080p?

I'm looking for a mini itx and I found this one, looks good all around.

ASUS E35M1-I DELUXE AMD Zacate E-350 AMD Hudson M1 Mini ITX

  • Download DivX HQ Webplayer to play HD on your old graphics card, I have a onboard SiS graphics card and i can play 1080p no problem :)

  • Wy do you use Internet Explorer 8 when you got Firefox?

  • @Remi1115 why use firefox when you got chrome?

  • @XxSliCkNicKxX

Because Firepl0x is more advanced and most Chrome users think that a faster browser is a better browser.

  • I don't see why anyone would buy one of these instead of a m-atx board with onboard graphics and an ordinary amd dual core?

  • What will happen if you put an AMD HD 5xxx on these motherboards?

  • @RagingBubuli depends on which one. a 5970 will be bottlenected, but a 5450 might not be as badly bottlecenked

  • YTmurphy failed to defeat the Linus fandom

  • doesent onboard 4250 HD run all of theses 0_0

  • i lold "a handful of watts" new metric?

  • sure fusion's great, and I'll be picking up the gigabyte board in the near future to run my media server, but the question is this:

    will it blend?

  • It's a mini-itx mother-blorrrrrrrrrr-red

  • I could not get my eyes of the cats :D

  • the problem with watching 1080p videos on youtube is not that their computer cannot handle it, it is that the internet is too slow to download and play it.

if i want to watch a 720p you tube video it takes at least twice the length of the video to download the whole thing, so i have to wait for it to buffer or just watch it in 360p

  • @spaih001 What are you talking about? Watching 1080p on a low-spec computer sure is demanding. Its not at all related to network speed.

  • @spaih001 depends entirely on your network connection, i have optical fiber, that doesent mean i can grab a 10 year old laptop out of the garage and play 1080p over YouTube.

  • ok having the cat video is so distracting from what he's actually talking about

  • but can it play pacman?

  • Is Sound the only thing other then networking and firewire as to having it's own chipse that's not intergrated in to the APU solution. Very interesting and informative video, Thank you.

  • @gxc90 sata, north/south bridge

  • When he said the video wasn't about the cats, I cried a little.

  • 5:01 SUPER CAT JUMP.

  • you have given me good idea on what to build for a friend of mine for cheap price and good computer on what he's using the computer for thank you, i am going to make a video about it when its done :)

  • wow 1.62fps.

  • @Jump5tylerZ he was talking about re-encoding a video. Rendering fps =/= gaming fps.

  • Can't wait till Asus Starts making use of those ARM processors on their boards it's going to be juts disgusting.

  • But will it run Crysis, that's the question.

  • @LassiLehtisyrja it will melt trying to run crysis or even mario amd fail!!!!!!

  • @LassiLehtisyrja

Yes it does. check out 1215B netbook running crysis 2 with amd fusion activated.

  • @LassiLehtisyrja no no no, you have it all wrong. Will it Blend?, that IS the question.

  • @LassiLehtisyrja hahaha good jok.. wait.. yes, it does /watch?v=NMv_T4Z6teQ xD

  • Comment removed

  • @LassiLehtisyrja i mean the a8 3850 is nice for for every game combined with 6670

  • @pivan23 Not as nice as a GTX 560 Ti @ 1Ghz

  • @LassiLehtisyrja it can run at 1080p see linus videos and I'm not interested wasting energy but if that is what you prefer then so be it :)

  • @LassiLehtisyrja actually yes it does, but on low settings!

  • @LassiLehtisyrja it will it runs every game out like the newest game dead island i was just playing it and the cpu is as fast as a intel core i3

  • @16437457 Still not as fast as my i5 750 @ 4,2 GHz and GTX 560 Ti @ 1 Ghz

  • I am going to make one of these for my parents instead of buying a whole system and since like making them that will be a double plus. Perfect specs for what they need :)

  • so can i play metro on it

  • what does apu stand for?

  • @JKayF1 accelerated processing unit

  • You forgot to mention, that the x16-Slot is mechanically only an x4-Slot. This is due the chipset-limitation of the Hudson M1 (A50M).

  • So this is like one of those motherboards with a built in processor that has AMDs version of Integrated graphics?

  • I facepalmed to that single RAM slot.

  • its not really progressive scan is it?

  • 5:00

its because intel doesnt make quality GPU's

  • is it running a standard power suply that is jusing on a gaming pc? i mean size now..

  • run a gtx 590 on it :D

  • Thumbs up if you came to this video just to admire the cats!

  • stupid laggy flash, hopefully soon html5 video will be implemented. you should see if it laggy when it's running the 4k test on youtube (4096 x 2304)

  • Thanks for an intresting video ;)

  • Omg, The video randomly paused at 1:55 And It looks like the Bunny thinks Linus is cute. =o

  • can i use my gtx 590 on those?

  • Does anyone know if the fusion works in Linux? XBMC to be more specific?

  • lol NCIX Black Xterm Edition

  • Time to rebuild my media centre, damn you making me spend money

  • show us really uncompressed avi files (the 4.5GB/minute ones), i had difficulties running those with 8800, but with 5970 it works

  • Linus, please put the number on aside. Sometimes it becomes hard to get the number in you head while trying to follow up on what you are saying.

  • Linus, ýou like insane stuff? Put a 6990/590 in one of these!!!!!!

Thumbs up so linus can see it, we want more insande movies :DD

  • @fredde94chr Why? You would just be CPU bottlenecking those powerful cards and therefore wasting money.

  • @JonnyFlash80 Well, Linus alreay got the components needed! So he wont waste money... and it would be awsome to see a REAL bottleneck!

  • you have 2 cats ?

you may want to google " how to cook a cat "

    yummy !

  • AMD Fusion = WIN!

  • What breed of cats are those?

  • How much is "a handful of watts?"

  • @Arbie8327 18 Watt

  • @Arbie8327 well, 10% of the population has asthma (CDC; cats being a number one trigger) and a full quarter of all people with allergies are allergic to cats (WebMD); ~150/mil people have allergies. So, doing the math brings us to ~30/mil and ~37.5/mil= 67.5/mil. Out of the 300/mil Americans that would be 21.6% of the population who are either allergic to cats or should never be around them.

  • How large is your hand, and what size of watt did you get?

  • meow~

  • please don't be stupid and buy that micro atx APU shit, you don't need to pay for that SATA 6.0gb/s with that shitty CPU glued on it, and those extra expansion slots because you shouldnt even think about installing a video card on this shit APU.... don't let ASUS win by tricking you......

  • thats absolutely absurd. SATA 6.0gb/s paired with a shitty ass "APU"? you wont even be able to take advantage of that.... CPU bottleneck/CPU+GPU taped together bottleneck?

  • what will happen if you put a discrete graphics card + APU? EXTREME GAMING!??

  • @pivan23 no youll be CPU bottlenecked like crazy

  • I was letdown, finally thought there was an un boxing of the cats :(

  • Linus is so cute in this video! :-)

  • put a 6990 or 590 on it.

  • @kaseymiller and watch it burn xD I will feel so bad for this fusion board... :D

  • I have the gigabyte board. With 4 gigs of ram (It can support up to 8), it really feels like a normal computer. No raid support though :(

  • Are there any boards with DC power imput?

I want to put one in a Xbox 360 and I don't want an Atom.

  • I became very sad when he opened IE instead of Google Chrome...

  • Please don't tell me that you use IE.

  • 8:39 WTF are you doing?

  • While playing a 1080p video my i3 desktop system with power saving functions enabled reports between 5W and 16.75W power consumption from the CPU (presumably including the on-chip GPU) Windows Task Manager shows CPU utilization <= 10% with 4 other apps running - Task Manager, CPUID Hardware monitor, an e-mail client and the Firefox browser. Mind you I am OC'd to 4.0 Ghz, but that should increase power consumption.

  • what kinda of fps would you get with zacate apu with cod 4 ?

  • So then what is the difference between this and a core i3 with integrated graphics. Because they both have both the cpu and gpu on the same chip, so what is different. Can someone pls explain?

  • @benigo15 Core i3 setup is going to cost around $200 and will draw a lot more power.

  • @LauxHawk Yea i know that. but that does not explain what the difference is between the chips. I mean they both have cpu and gpu on a single chip but he makes it seem like fusion is different. Almost like both cpu and gpu are on a single die, where as the cpu and gpu in a core i3 are on the same chip but they are different dies.

  • @benigo15 Good question. I can play full 1080p video on my i3-540 with no problems. In fact I could play HD video on my previous system which was an Intel G45 chipset socket 775 system. The socket 1156 i3 and i5s are that much better, and Sandy Bridge video is better still. Using a 32nm fab, they are incredibly easy on power.

For some reason it's big news when AMD catches up to a technology that Intel has had on the market for in this case at least 3 years.

  • @COLDB33R your old 775 is different then the core i3's, the 775 motherboards had the graphics on the motherboard and cpu on well the cpu chip. The core i3's have both the cpu and the gpu on the cpu chip. Which is what the fusion is doing so i dont get if their is a difference between the 2 or if he is just being a amd fanboy.

  • @benigo15 The core 2 Duo's had a TDP of 65W, the 82G45 Graphics and memory controller chip (usually called Northbridge) was 24W. That's 89W compared to the first generation i3/i5's i 73W TDP including the 45 nm integrated graphics component. Dual core Sandy Bridge desktop chips (eg. i3-2100) are 65W, including the (now 32nm) GPU. So the MAXIMUM power ratings haven't come down that much. TYPICAL power in use will often depend on what power management features were included on the motherboard.

  • @benigo15 Not the same thing. Core i3 with integrated graphics has two cores on the same CHIP, but the APU has two cores on the same DIE. They are even more integrated together with an APU.

  • @NCIXcom I was under the impression that the SandyBridge was on the same die, unlike Clarkdale which was two cores on the same chip?

  • @NCIXcom Not true for the new Sandy Bridge i3s. Sandy Bridge's GPU is also on the same die, which makes the i3s the way better platform in my mind because you don't have to make any tradeoffs. You just get the full feature set and power of a Desktop CPU.

Which also means that even the smallest i3 has enough CPU power to play 1080p without needing help from a GPU.

  • @dgschrei Still doesn't make it better, drawing 18W from the wall, running as a HTPC and playing 1080p playback is amazing. The i3's can't compete with the power draw at all...
