Joel speaks a good Godly message. There is nothing wrong with reaping benefits from being an honest follower of Christ. Its NOT the money, but it's the LOVE of money thats the root of all evil. And Joel and his wife give money to various organizations all of the time, maybe thats why GOD placed them in a position to do so. In the middle ages, the Church told the people it was noble to be poor and give their money away, in order to TAKE their money and keep it for themselves. Now, some might argue that's what Joel is doing. But Joel's a nice, affable guy... and people who scam money are usually fear-mongers. Joel never does any of that. What's wrong is perhaps income distribution discrepancy in general.

@tupactip 50K is not that much. It is hard to support a family on that salary, but it depends on where you live. But when 35k is considered poverty, 50 is not that much. And when you gross 50 you net about 35-40 depending on what you claim.

@tupactip 50K is not that much. It is hard to support a family on that salary, but it depends on where you live. But when 35k is considered poverty, 50 is not that much. And when you gross 50 you net about 35-40 depending on what you claim.

Whats extravagant? I haven't figured that out yet, but when you look up the ladder U tend to focus on what U don't have. Look down the ladder, we see how much weve been blessed with. Indicative of his broad positive approach that attracts the masses. A pastor is called to feed the flock the whole counsel of God- from Genesis to Revelation. People interpret his soft-spoken manner as exhibiting a Christ-like spirit & ignore the non-Biblical content traded in for a motivational spiritual pep talk !

@onstageagain Joel Olsteen is not an ordained Pastor (that's my understanding) which is why he doesn't need to get into the theological debates. He is pretty much a Life Coach, but uses Jesus and the Scripture as a source for his material. Yeah, its all very veiled and leads lots of Christians into some more of the Propoganda Theology being espoused by so many Christian leaders today.
