This was my second game ever for the PS1 back in the day, and I played the hell out of it. You know what's really shocking? It honestly has aged REALLY well. Look at most other PS1 games of the day and compare them to this. I'd almost think this was a PS2 game.

this game kicked so much ass, I can't believe black ops or another developer haven't caught wind of the potential a sequel could unleash, especially with the capabilities of this generation of consoles. i mean, look how awesome they made this game, from 1997. just think of how realistic they could make it look today

Gad, I missed this game. I remember when I would stand for close to an hour at the game store playing the demo. I played it everyday after school when I finally got this. I still remember those claustrophobic underground stages where I'd get stuck on some points and dying by drowning.

As a nineties kid I played Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. This game scared the crap out of me! Haha, looking back at this, I can't believe how much I tried to play but was to afraid. I just ordered it off of Amazon and I can't wait to play this again!

Was that particular manta ray the only one in the game that you could ride? Cos I had this game when I was a kid and I spent hours trying to ride rays but never got it to work...

I guess it was but I'm not 100% sure. I tried riding on the others there but it wouldn't let me, so I just netted them for the gold.

@SingularSuperNinja There's that one that goes into that secret area, and I think there was another one which went to a like a shallow area with quite a bit of gold. You just get very close to them and press all 4 bumper buttons simultaneously...

There's Sub Rebellion on the PS2 but it doesn't allow you to leave your submarine and explore. I don't know of any others other than that one.

Ahhhhhh, I'm so grateful I got to play it when I did, I miss that game so much, but Gameworks sold it :/ no problem man! It's supposedly extremely rare, but some arcades and private owners have it today

Yep. A whole bunch of stuff came into that. I knew enough about the Mariannas Trench to be worried about Giant Squid and such. Then that beginning part where you hear the singing and turn on your Light/NVG and see those huge sperm whales...Geez, I was terrified.

Thank God, there were no giant squid that I noticed. And if there were, I was too busy concentrating on those fin-backed fish and Black's Submarine forces.
