  • It's unnecessary written on packets that do not eat whether it's not poison

  • Kinda like orbeez... but more poppy

  • I put all the gels in the toilet and flushed it. What's gonna happen?

  • those bubbles are being released by the gels. the water is being absorbed and releases the air trapped inside.

  • stop with the hate.. if you think she moves the camera too much or w/e then just dont watch it! you were never forced to watch this video. if you wanted to leave negative comments you could have done it more positively like constructive criticism..... no point arguing in reply to this comment because i do not get involved in cyber disagreements.

  • NOW DRINK IT!!!

  • This is the fucking shakiest video I've ever seen. Get a FUCKING TRIPOD or just leave the camera alone. And don't point the lens into the glass of hot water, the steam makes the picture all blurry, MORON!

  • so are they safe to just touch and handle

  • How about acid... you would surprise about what happens around pH 3.0

  • It pops. Do you think they'll expand if there left in the water for a period of time.

  • POPCORN??

  • do u sell that shit on the street corner?

  • WOW!

  • You need to get get out more, like maybe to the shop and buy some cleaning products mix them with water, put it on to a cloth and see what happens when you rub it along that kitchen window of yours.

  • i have one of those stuck in my earphone jack of an ipod any smart ideas how to get rid of that...i tried pin touthpic and vacum ...nothing work...please help

  • @fellinna369 open ipod and push it out from the inside :)

  • @fellinna369 melt the tip of a pin and try to burn half way through it.. wait until it solidifies.. than pull it out like a sword.

  • if they want us to throw them away then why do they give it to us in the first place?! were throwing out there trash! were doing there work for them! :O

  • now drink the water!

  • Erm do water get absorbed on the normal glass we see too?

  • @TheeFrozenDesire im guessing it do, idk its the only glass ive ever tried it in.

  • @TheeFrozenDesire No, the reason these absorb water is because they're porous. Normal glass isn't porous.

  • it doesnt expand very much.

  • I think you mean "silica gel"

  • if i eat this will it happen in my stomach

  • if i eat this will it happen in my stomach????

  • @xxLaynzxx Yeah, I tried it the other day. You should give it a go.

  • @qpeormtvjr no thanx XD

  • I got this shit with Air soft gun, and what is the point with them, what I gonna use it too ( not this video).

  • its silica, not silicone. dumbass thats a completely different material. noobs like this ruin youtube

  • and what will happen if i eat this balls :D ???

  • i found it in my HP laptops case :D

  • This video is about six minutes too long.

  • I made a similar video which is shorter, but pretty much a lot darker. Its in 720p and made with a crappy cameraphone :P

  • Can u touch it??

  • It sounds like ur camera has a built-in dosimeter.

  • @HedgehogStudios1 whats dat?

  • @tyl3Z Measures radiation like a Geiger counter.

  • @tyl3Z dosimeter i think its that one that count metan gas i think its sounds more liek an geiger counter

  • @tyl3Z too lazy to google "dosimeter" are you? ..or can you not just assume @HedgehogStudios1 was referring to a radiation detector?

  • @DeviousTelevision only thing that sounded familiar to me was a Geiger Counter lol... never heard of a dosimeter b4

  • so that's the thing that happens in our tummies when we eat it...i'm gonna try it :P

  • @MsROCKETGAL slowwer

  • ime going to put twenty packs into a bottle of water see what happens :)

  • @MsROCKETGAL would do the same thing just take longer. 2 things that affect reaction speeds, Temperature and Surface Area. :)

  • @tyl3Z I did the same thing but with acetone!!!!!

  • awsome im going to get those in my jerky do they grow well i have like 60000 orbeez now these r cool to but do they grow?

  • Dude you need to clean your window sill :l

  • @youboob6022 lols i know, :p

  • It's called Silica Gel.

  • 2 things.

1.) This is not Silicon Dioxide. It is acidified Sodium Silicate. 2.) Silica is only carcinogenic if you breath in silica dust. Silica's carcinogenicity is very similar to that of Asbestos.

  • onetime i went to a shoe store and got around 50 packets and i put them in the same time and they all sounded like popcorn.

  • so are they changing color?

  • Can i pour the beads down the sink im done?

  • @rbeoulve then you'd probably have balls growning in ur stomach lmao

  • i have a packet of these in my mouth right now its not affecting the moisture in my mouth lol

  • @scar504 well heres somethign to trry, wipe your tounge dry on your sleeve or something, then just quickly rub it on the roof of your mouth to make it ever so "damp" then take a bead and place it on your tounge,, notice as it starts to stick to your tounge as the moisture is absorbed.,, you prolly dont notice that well because you might have too much "spit" or too few beads. :) but seriously, dont try it. this is just theoretical.

  • What is the gas produced?

  • lol fuck you and you kids

  • Be careful the clear ones are safe to eat and etc... BUT THE BLUE ONES ARE PROVEN TO CAUSE CANCER!!!

  • @loper324 my son everything causes cancer.. -_-

  • @tyl3Z ...i bet your mom bought to you a new pair of sneakers......

  • @G0BLIN1000 haha actually i got the packets out of my guitar hero world tour box, :)

  • @loper324 Why would you want to eat silica anyways??? lol.. #daredevil

  • @loper324 why would you eat them in the first plce, when it clearly says "do not eat"?

  • that is sooo cool!!! but should u throw the cup away when ur done? cuz i know silica is like posion....

  • @ClaireLovesMac1 nehh, just toss the iquid down the drain, might kill off some potentially harmful bacteria down there lol. :) wash glass after and viola! lol

  • that is sooo cool!!! but should u throw the cup away when ur done? cu i know silica is like posion....

  • ive been doing that but there's nothing happen, whats wrong with it????

  • @xXZayzeXx u prolly dont have enough, i had like 4 or 5 bags of it

  • @tyl3Z im using old silica lol

  • Redo it, this time with the camera close to the water cup. Leave the f*cking camera alone!

  • @JerryGiesler09 mehh, ive been meaning to make another one but i haven't got enough silica gel.

  • @tyl3Z then buy a lot of beef jerky.

  • @lamunecadog well, its different for jerky, the stuff in the beef jerky packs are alll different colors and its not only silica gel thats in them, but the packets from buying various electronics and shoes are the best,

  • Lol... Glass krispies :3

  • what happens if you shine a black light on it Oo

  • is that hydrogen gas coming out?

  • @xxoBOMaxx Yes that is H2 gas coming out so be careful it can be very dangerous.

  • @amos033 awsome! hopefully after enough tries I can get some tridium!

  • will cause diarrea

  • i found this out today with a pack at school curiusly i put the beads in my hand and poured water over them they started poping in my hand

  • "do not eat" "play with it"

  • @FeeldahVibe001 Actually, they arent posioness, I saw a thing online, they just put that on there because children would eat them. Now if you ate like a gallon full, then you'd get sick.

  • i literally have a sack full of these, ima try it right now. brb

  • silica gel is non toxic.

  • @FeeldahVibe001 only the dye in it is toxic. and even then the damage it does is only if you have been eating lots of it. Silica gel shouldn't be eaten b/c of the damage caused by its drying effects. not b/c it is poison.

  • @TheDayWeAwake

    not true

  • I put an unopened pack of these in my toilet and the started crackling. I got so scared I flushed the toilet and ran away.

  • Can you poison someone with that??? Lol.

  • I love doing this lol.

  • i work at a retail store and we collected bags full of them into a puddle outside and it was entertaining...well pretty much anything to keep us from actually doing any work

  • Accidentally i had little bag's in my wasging machine...I have the feeling that the stuff is now in my clothes. Otherwise i don't know for sure if they are snapped, because many balls are still intact. If they are snapped and that stuff are in my clothes, can this be bad for health? Or is it gone when i was my clothes again? POr am i exaggerating?

Sorry for my bad English, thanks a lot anyway.

  • @patje7 to be honest i dont think that any chemicals are released into the water when they snap. they only absorb water and then bust because they absorb too much. they are only made of silica which is only an ingredient in making glass.. so in other words i think you will be fine.

  • @tyl3Z It doesn't absorb the water, it is absorbing the oxygen that is chemically bonded with the hydrogen to form the water. Once the oxygen is absorbed, hydrogen gas is released, so don't breathe it in. Also, I bet if you put enough of them in, and held a lighter over the glass, the hydrogen would ignite, but I wouldn't suggest doing it.

  • @mtflyer05 whaaa really ? is hydrogen heavier than air? how about if i went about butting a shit load of them in a plastic bottle, then put in water, then closed the lid. what if i put the bottle in a fire? would it explode like a bomb? hmmm,

  • @tyl3Z not like a bomb haha, maybe like a little "pop" I'm guessing, nothing more then a little fire. If you had a TON of silica beads maybe, but not like a packet or 2.

  • @tyl3Z The hydrogen wouldn't need to be heavier than the air, if enough were placed in and released the gas quickly enough, the gas would ignite. Also, it may explode, but I would not advise trying it. Anyway, nice video.

  • @tyl3Z Hydrogen is lighter than air (which is just a mix of various gases). Hydrogen is element number 1 on the periodic table and the lightest element there is. In answer to the other questions: Yes and Yes.

  • @tyl3Z Hydrogen Bombs.. +D

  • @mtflyer05 I wonder if silica gel PHYSIsorbs water, instead of CHEMIsorbing it. That is to say that water molecules become rather weakly attached to the material's pores, without chemically interacting with it. They remain adsorbed (with a "D") as water molecules and no chemical reaction takes place. Gas bubbling out might be nitrogen (from air) displaced by water molecules being preferentially adsorbed over nitrogen.

  • One thing that bothers me of the above reasoning is that there is known hydroxilation of silica surfaces, which entails a chemical reaction and, necessarily, hydrogen release.

  • @lgcota I don't know for sure. I have only the experiences of chemistry that I have taught myself. Your theory sounds far better than mine,. Thank you for the help.

  • @nickrod32 silica gel is a type of sand there are no toxins involved. Don't freak out by all the warning signs you see.

    chow.com/stories/10390

  • I wonder what would happen if you released a shitload of these into the public water system.....

  • @jedipatster hahaha i bet that would really be a good way to put the city under quarantine!! like that movie biohazard. anybody seen it? its about some terrorists putting stuff in the citys water and they canty drink it. they are forced to find other supplies of water. ! good movie !

  • mine doesn't do anything...

  • I thought they absorbed water O.O

  • Dont breathe this!

  • lol i tried this once in a plate :P and i put em in and my cousin wanted to look at what i was doing and it hit her in the face

  • @zombieslave1 haha

  • 4:09 epic screensaver lolz

  • cool, ha

  • is there anything "cool" you can do with silica gel like a prank or something that pops

  • @xThAtLoCoKiD hmmmm only thing i can think of is ask somebody if tehy want a glass of water.. sneak some silica gel into it, and let them pick up the glass and put it to their lips and then they suddenly realize that the glass sounds like its about to blow up in ther face bahahahahah

  • @tyl3Z problem is this stuff is very poisoness

  • Is that a pie i see? XD

  • @Grawr93XD bahaha actually garlic bread

  • @tyl3Z NOM :D KEEP THO FU%KING VAMPIRES AWAY LMAO!!!

  • wow i never put into perspective that the water levels would decrease if i took the beads out lol

  • hmmmmm how many beads will fully drain the glass O.o LOL

  • very very cool

  • hm.... new science experiment! fill a glass with silica gell balls and then put water in the glass.....maaaybe put a plastic rap over the top juuuuust in case

  • @here2there4life hmmm i might try that. gotta find some more beads first lol

  • It pops because Silica Gel is strongly attracted by water and thye water fill it so fast making it broken, you can't eat it because it coukd have some impurities like Cobalt a cancerigen element. Silica Gel can be dangeous for your digestive tract. be aware.

  • @PinkSharck HOLY JESUS CHRIST. I WOULD BE CONSTIPATED FOR 60 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey if anybody has some silica gel packets and wanna try out this same experiment or an even better one post a video response.. i guess some examples could be, burning them, microwaving them while they are in a cup of water, putting them in stuff besides water..ex. pop, juice, etc idk lol

  • drink it

  • @MJBDC07 hmm. it says do not eat.. i think it should be safe to drink then lol

  • @tyl3Z lol

  • @tyl3Z i want to see tyl3Z drink it. hopefully u fall ill and die.

i would like to watch this :)

  • @johneldridgets awee man no way. hahaha i made my friend put one in his mouth before ahahah it cracked and shot right at the back of his throat. ahahah

  • Neat, thanks for sharing.

  • i hear dora in the back

  • @rbeoulve u die :(

  • i dint know it made helium!? ahah

  • @tyl3Z

I don't think they make Helium. There's no helium in there, only silicon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

  • do that a 1,000,000 times. collect the gas. then make a blimp 8)

  • Lol nice :), i made a video where i put two bags of silicagel PLEASE chek it guys :)

  • lol nice video!

but chek also my video , you can hear the poppings nicely :)

  • I also colect and use them to protect blackpowder, amonium nitrate mixtures, smoke bombs ect. from moisture.

  • @RussianVitamines just buy cat litter. they may not be 100% silicon dioxide but they contain enough for years of use

  • Oh btw, i have also a good video of putting silica gel in water :D

i putted 2 whole bags of them xD popped nicely

  • whioa

  • 1:41-1:44

    god bless you :)

  • lols

  • snap crackle pop ! this must be delicious !

  • CANADIAN CLASSICS!!!

  • what kind of camera do u have?

  • @techtalker24 I Got a Sony Cyber-shot 7.2 Mp

  • wow im surprised everyone didnt come running to look in your house!

  • Silica gel is extremely porous (with 800m2 of surface area per g) and so when you throw it in water it absorbs so much water that it bursts, then you see all the millions of little air bubbles coming up. There is no REACTION with water, silica gel is just silica and therefore obviously not soluble in water nor reactive with it.

  • Dont drink it :D

  • I tried putting my silica gel packet in cool water, over constant heat so that steam past through it & in boiling water. Their was NO reaction in the silica gel on a scale that could be seen by the human eye. Did you use a catalyst?

  • Silica gel does vary... Some sources pop and crackle, others do nothing.

  • YUMMI SILICA-POP-CORN IN WATER

  • wats it used for

  • silica gel is what you get when you buy shoes and stuff, they're used to absorb extra moisture and such

  • u always get a little bag of silica gel when u buy shoes. they're used to absorb any moisture

  • hmmm pizza :D check my vid, not as spectacular tough (crappy camera work) strangely enough, the more water i added the less gel thingy's popped :\

  • hmmmm must have something to do with the concentration. thats pretty wierd. lol i cant think of a reason for that.

  • Next time, add like 10-20 bags of the silica gel... you can actually adsorb all the water.

  • wow really... im gunna try that. thanks!
