  • Will this head get me a jfac tone ? Or Chelsea grin, carcass ???

  • i have the same head and i cant dial in a clean tone, the sound you had was awesome, i would like to know how you got it and if you were using anything extra

  • distortion sounds alot like metallica

  • SatchVai Style FTW. JSX into a Carvin Legacy.

Sir, hold your head high and be proud. You know good music.

  • Nice tone. What were your settings when you were playing with high gain?

  • I think I've reached to the point where no other distortion sounds good to me other than the JSX crunch and ultra channels...:D

  • The distortion is good, BUT IMO i like my Carvin Legacy so much better!!

But two totally different amps and tone.

Just before i sold the JSX i tried out a overdrive pedal with it.....let's say i should have kept the amp awhile longer. ;)

  • I so wanna get my hands on one of these one day!

    My dream amp!

I like the fact that you said "IMO" :)

    Both amps are amazing!

  • Well atleast you know what you're looking for.

The JSX is built like a tank!! Very heavy.

I also liked that it had a bias knob on the back of the amp, which was perfect!!

But yeah, that is just my opinion :)

  • man the legacy smokes the jsx for metal tone listen to the clarity of the legacy ... i played the jsx head and loved i and then i played the legacy and was amazed the tihgtness and crisp attack of it is unreal that is the metal tone you need no graininess at all

  • I totally disagree!!! The legacy without a question is a very nice amp.But it has it's own character. For metal stuff?Peavy is way better than the legacy!

  • lol yea with my marshal avt i put master vol at 2 and the normal vol at 5 and it sounds really good and its a good volume...if i got 10 its like..fuckn crazy...ive never passes master vol 3 and normal vol 3 lol...gets too loud

  • very nice sounding amp, nice jazzy note selection there Evo, thats the kind of playing I like to hear, very good amp demo one of the better ones I've heard on youtube- amp demo-ers take note.

  • Thanks alot, i really appreciate that. I know how it is searching for a amp and wanting a basic idea of how it sounds. So i try to deliver.

    Thanks for watching!

  • can u get a good tone at low volumes by crankin vol and roll the master up to say 1 or 2

  • You sure can. In this video i think the volume was around 4, and master 1-2.

  • what's the price for the jsx(used/second hand)??

  • You can usually pick them up for $850-750

Depending on the age, condition, etc.

I have seen the amp head, and combos go for this all day long.

  • Pretty much. The jsx is a bit more aggressive, and you really need that for metal. Where the Legacy OWNS in the department of smooth and sexy tone. LOL

It's all a matter of the style of music you play and the tone your after. And how much your willing to pay.

  • hmm ive been interested in getting this head for a while being thats its the best amp ive played. i have not played the legacy head and was wondering how the 2 compare?

  • For leads...Legacy hands down!! For metal jsx.

The Legacy is so smooth you can't get a bad tone, and it's not a harsh amp at all. The cleans are great. Where the jsx can be harsh but you can get more of a metal tone, the cleans are decent. Still a great amp, built like a tank, just wasn't the amp for me.

  • how versatile is the legacy? it seems every time i hear it it sounds like vai's sound but nothing else. the jsx was very versatile and i liked that, you could get original tone, didnt make me sound too much like satch, could i expect that in the legacy? not sounding too much like vai that is?

  • The Legacy will always have that "woody" vai kinda tone. That's the character of the amp. So if you don't like that, i wouldn't buy the Legacy.

I personally like it. You can always add distortion on the Legacy clean channel.

  • Although it's tweaked very bass heavy in this demo, it still sounds very tight. Might check this one out.

  • Yeah i think a lot of the bass is coming from my sound card when i crank the mic up.

  • i want to know if the JSX Head + JSX Cab can do metal like in this video with the Legacy Cabs?

  • I don't see why not, but i don't know personally. The Legacy cab is all i used with the JSX.

  • Yes it can I own the JSX head and slanted cab, and the JSX cab is incredible. Perfectly crystal clear, and amazing on the uiltra channel.

  • Great playing!

  • Thanks for your reply bro! Yeah i been working on my dynamics lately, i guess my hand is heavier then what i think. I just recently switch to a lighter pick. Dunlop 1mm, i was using the jazz3.

  • Sounds good man!

Other than the high bass in the tone, I think, technique-wise, you really have to use a lighter pick attack when you speed up. Your legato sounds pretty good as is, but it's all in the picking dynamic when you get into faster playing. If you have any questions regarding practice just hit me up!

  • I couldn't agree more dude. But the first thing people think is satch don't play metal...so how can his amp model work for metal.

And here you have a short sample just for the curious.

  • Hah? Can it do metal and clean channels? In my JSX's stock form it killed, with tube swaps etc. this thing is a beast

  • Thanks! This is more of a video for jsx owners and people who are curious about the jsx.

Some wonder if it can do metal, some are curious about cabs, clean channel, so this video is for them to judge. This video isnt made for technique or music in general.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Great sounds man. That Legacy cab goes well with a JSX.
