I have watched Journeys End many times, and closely looked at the ring. The ring that donna weats is quite large, round and black. you see it when she is with the doctor at the shadow proclimation, when one of the members of staff hands her some water. Comparing this with the ring that is picked up by a womans hand at the end of series 3, this is not the same ring. I think that lucy and the master might have had a plan however, because i think that the nail poish matched the dress that lucy wore

Just like the meta-crisis doctor her body is human so it cannot accept a time lord consciousness as it would destroy her so I don't think she would be able to regenerate or become The Master.

Donna touched the ring with her hand with the ring on , i think some of the generation was sealed inside the ring and thats why it was glistening , but when her ring is flashing at the end of her last scene , it flashed when she says the word ''LIES'' as in , she can't remeber , so she has to be lied to , but the ring knows the truth because its got the regeneration stuff in it.

Why did she show up in the episode after Martha Jones left? "He will knock 4 times." The master is very clever using Donna as a tool for his return through space and time and the doctor fell for it and now to save her he must regenerate. sorry

What are you talking about you idiot.. RTD isnt the best writer but sound of drums and last of the timelords was the best season finale ever and probably the best Master story.. coupled with murray gold's superb score.

yeah i was hoping something like this would happen too. i really didn't care for the series 4 finale.  the whole thing with the 2nd doctor was just cheesy. plus it really didn't do justice to donna's character.

Have to agree. While it was still a fun ride...it just lacked a certain something. SO much more could have been done to validate the build up all through the series AND make Donna REALLY seem "more than just a temp" instead of the shoddy attempt made by the writing crew that really had little to do with her influences at all. :(
