It is often stated by Unionists that Republicans orchestrated the CRM to destroy the statelet of NI.
A lie propagated to hide the real significance of this stance.
Stormont deliberately highlighted & manipulated the fact that certain Republicans were involved with the CRM to scare the Unionist population into thinking it was a Republican uprising.
This red flag ensured popular Unionist consent for brutal suppression & frontline cannonfodder in the form of the Protestant working class.

The civil rights movement was about seeking an end to the exsistence of privilege,discrimination & the despicable subjugation of the poor who wer proportionately (& didnt just happen to be) majority Catholic.
It is entirely possible that if it werent for the treatment of Catholics in the statelet of Northern Ireland since its inception,there never would have been an 'uprising'.
The IRA HAD gone away at that stage.
