  • her interpretation of this aria is absolutely sublime, epic, her vibrato shakes my being :-) love her

  • we have forgotten what beautiful music is...we need to come back to this

  • WOW!!! Thank you so much for posting this lovely recording.

  • this is just wonderful

  • Best version I heard of it so far...

  • Again, I say BRAVA...to all who love this woman's voice, please also know that she is teaching now, furthering her Marilyn Horne Foundation , and having Master Classes around this country as she battles pancreatitis cancer....is now 76, and thank God , is leaving a WONDERFUL LEGACY for all future music lovers...She is working on trying to bring back THE RECITAL!!!! YEAH! Thanks so much for posting this! I hope you will continue to do so...BRAVA Marilyn Horne! PERFECTION! We are so lucky!

  • @kasha1932 We are. I've been trying to keep up with her career and I'm so glad she's still with us. God bless Ms. Horne!

  • absolutely the best I've heard :) very happy to find this!

  • Lovely. I wish I could see her perform live!

  • Her singing brought me to tears....

  • Sublime:Nessuno è riusciuto sino ad oggi a renderlo così intenso e perfetto.Grazie.

  • Great!

    Thank you!

  • I'm no opera expert but Marilyn's vibrato in this rendition is the best I've hear among by now 30 versions.

  • @nclysander I would agree with you, except I would speak of her in the present tense. I've heard her demonstrate in master class and she has plenty of voice left! This recording is from 1988.

  • @operalover9001 Not likely...she had largely stopped singing by that time...and would not have sounded so fresh as she does here.

  • I love this interpetation above all her vibrato and the complete control of the voice.

  • Dalila, Amnerisand Acuzena isn't for her really. But in baroque her wonderfully pure and clear voice is towering skyhigh above all others...Ferrier excluded.

  • @zgopify Well, there possibly might be some reservation over her Acuzena and Ammeris, but Horne definitely is tailor made for Dalila.

  • Love this song and had lessons to learn to perform it. It is my party piece. Alas I can sing nothing else, but egad I can do this one! I have had people crying and kissing my throat, people I didn't know, and my paying for the meal was refused, in several countries. My spouse hates when I do this. Hee hee! I wish I could have a marvelous voice and really sing. When you learn one piece you are just a trained monkey, not an ARTIST. great posting!!!!!

  • i most agree, she is the best performer for this song. lovely voice.

  • Utterly sublime!

  • Art of the highest order. The great Horne makes this world a better place to live in.

  • No doubt, after listening all the available recordings, hers is the most superb performance of "Lascia chi´io pianga" ever.

  • Marilyn Horne is probably my favorite singer. And the only one whom I have had the pleasure of meeting when she performed in San Francisco, near twenty years now. She was performing Schubert, as best as I can remember. But I was able to go backstage to meet her. I remember giving her a hug. It's one of my fondest memories. God bless her...

  • I think this is the perfect version of 1978

  • Thank you for posting! :)
