how would a female cop be so friggin STUPID to not even get out of her car, she knows there were brutal murders not far from where the restaurant is and that there was a man with blood on him who came into the restaurant, and she goes through the drive through window, says a few words to the attendant, then she doesnt even write a friggin report? THEN 24 hours later two other cops, equally as fucked in the head, show up and take blood samples in the bathroom! THEN THEY LOSE THE EVIDENCE! FUBAR!!

My oldest daughter is not biologically mine, but I have been in her life since she was 3 and she's 15 now. I have adopted her and given her my name and she is just as much my child as my biogical daughter is. So that whole you're just the "stepfather " comment is very, very very fucked up! You have no idea what was said before the tape recorder was turned on because for some unexplained reason, there was no video or audio taken of any of it. @DrHogfan ok bro, i know you will probably think im making this all up and thats fine. i know that Miskelley WAS in fact interrogated for over 12 hours before anything was recorded. he was given nothing but a glass of water for the first 6 and a half hours, then it was a soda, another hour later was given a sandwich from a machine. his entire statement did not match any of the details until the cops guided him the right info, which you can easily hear them doing in the recorded part. thats it

All the Investigator did was to determine exactly what JM meant by "bottom" . That's when he said "do you mean "he cut his bottm or penis" . @DrHogfan i heard most of what was said to JM during his interogation and it is very clear that he did not disclose any information that only the criminals knew about and he always denied taking part in the crimes. Gitchell had notes he made about what details he needed in the confession and they practiced with him what to say in great detail so that in his mind, it would all be cleared up and he could go home. afterwards, he still made many mistakes with all the info he was given

Procedure is to have the interrogation video documented to disprove any harrassment claims. Oddly, there is no audio or video of those 26 hours. NOTHING points to the guilt of those three.. @DrHogfan part 2... He lawyered up the same week as the murders and left town. Any police officer will tell you that someone who is innocent, doesn't get a lawyer, skip town and refuse a polygraph. Those are 3 REAL signs of guilt. Not to mention that his and his friends DNA are not only AT the crime scene, but IN THE FUCKING LACES used to tie the children up. Even Byers thinks it was Hobbs now. This was a group of police and bible thumping morons on a witch hunt, period.

The he said they were tied up with ropes when it was actually shoe laces..and Hobbs DNA and his friend (cant remember his name) was on one of the kids and at the scene...These kids weren't smart enough to carry this out..Really I don't think anyone in that whole area was..

This guy is grief stricken? He beat the hell out of Chris on a continual basis. Truth is, he appeared to hate the child. There may not be any physical evidence to prove he commited this crime, but circumstantial evidence is strong and Byers was anything but a loving stepfather. The fact he abused Christopher isn't even disputable. Out of respect for Chris, who lived a life of hell with this man and died a torturous agonizing death, try not to spew ignorance by feeling sympathy for Byers.
@308gucci Mark and/or Melissa Byers may have been abusive but so was Terry Hobbs, and Hobbs was at the scene at the time of the murders and left physical evidence inside one of the ligature knots and didn't tell Pam or the cops that Stevie was still missing for 4-5 hours and did a lot of laundry that night and was discovered with the pocket knife Stevie always kept with him and Stevie's face was bashed up more than the other two...
This guy may be an idiot and batshit crazy but I respect a person who can admit they were wrong. At least he FINALLY came out in support of the 3 who were wrongly convicted. The sad part is that he seemed oblivious to the fact that his tomfoolery and acting out for the cameras actually created more confusion and kept the truth obscured.
I think Myers has some psych problems - but I don't think he was directly involved in the murders. There's just no evidence of that. Unless there's solid evidence that he was involved - he's as innocent as anyone else. We can't accuse a person of a crime we cannot PROVE he committed. That's the whole lesson to be learned from this case. Unless there is clear, irrefutable EVIDENCE - we should not be naming suspects and naming suspects.

The films never made me suspect Mr. Byers. But he struck me as someone who was struggling to feel things through a kind of numbness, by forcing extreme behavior, while at the same time trying to kick drugs. He mentioned that his wife struggled with Heroin addiction. It is really great to see him so sober and healthy and lucid, and hopefully all good things are ahead for him.
When I think of the stereotypical christian scumbag- this p.o.s pops into my head. I still to this day, think he was the murderer, even though he passed the lie detector test in PL2, all that tells me is he's a good and rehearsed liar, they're not impossible to pass if your guilty. I just watched the first two docs and came away with conclusion that Byers was just a guy caught up in both grief and alcohol abuse. It will be interesting to see the third installation and I hope they explain how his POV changed in regards to the WM3's innocence. I am beside myself with joy that these men are finally free and still young enough to enjoy their lives. God knows they deserve it.

An expert who reviewed the autopsy photos thinks animal perditon cause the penis damage and that the serrated knife wounds were human bite marks. He thought the murders seemed more punitive than sexual. Stevie was mos badly beaten so it points to Hobbs, who's DNA they may have found. Don't know if they have a full DNA match yet. It's circumstantial, but stronger than the evidence aganst wm3. Except for Jessie's "confessions" which didn't even conform the evidence.
@melora72 Chris was alive at the time his genitalia was being removed. Evidence suggests he was struggling during the knife thrusts, cause of death, blood loss, and not post mortem. Animals had nothing to do with this.Christopher had far more physical injuries than the other boys, including old wounds and scars that were evident of ongoing child abuse. Chris had high levels of Tegretol in his system to "slow him down" which tells me it was planned. Read the autopsy and coroner reports again.

John Mark Buyers, in the Paradise lost doco's, i think a man acting out of anger and grief. @forensicpathologist7 I totally thought Byers was guilty when I first watched the first two docs. I didn't notice how slanted they were until I rewatched them after the Alford plea. I hope the next one is more objective. Byers was nutty, but I probably would have been too in his situation.

The reason why they made them accept the plea deal to get out was because they couldnt admit they were innocent after they were imprisoned for so long. If they let them go based on innocence they would have had to payout a huge settlement or face a huge lawsuit. My oldest daughter is not biologically mine, but I have been in her life since she was 3 and she's 15 now. I have adopted her and given her my name and she is just as much my child as my biogical daughter is. So that whole you're just the "stepfather " comment is very, very very fucked up! You have no idea what was said before the tape recorder was turned on because for some unexplained reason, there was no video or audio taken of any of it. Which is really crazy seeing how that's standard operating procedure. I think they took advantage of the stupid one, coerced a confession out of him and promised him a ton of shit they couldn't follow through on, that's why the tape of the INTERROGATION is now missing.

Not a single mosquito bite, and they said that creek was FULL of mosquitos. The more evidence you look at, the more it points away from those guys being the murderers. The only thing they had was that silly ass "confession" tape that somehow was the only thing recorded after he was questioned for 12 hours. Stupid back woods witch hunt.

@DrHogfan ok bro, i know you will probably think im making this all up and thats fine. i know that Miskelley WAS in fact interrogated for over 12 hours before anything was recorded. he was given nothing but a glass of water for the first 6 and a half hours, then it was a soda, another hour later was given a sandwich from a machine. his entire statement did not match any of the details until the cops guided him the right info, which you can easily hear them doing in the recorded part. thats it

@DrHogfan i heard most of what was said to JM during his interogation and it is very clear that he did not disclose any information that only the criminals knew about and he always denied taking part in the crimes. Gitchell had notes he made about what details he needed in the confession and they practiced with him what to say in great detail so that in his mind, it would all be cleared up and he could go home. afterwards, he still made many mistakes with all the info he was given

Procedure is to have the interrogation video documented to disprove any harrassment claims. Oddly, there is no audio or video of those 26 hours. NOTHING points to the guilt of those three.. Those are 3 REAL signs of guilt. Not to mention that his and his friends DNA are not only AT the crime scene, but IN THE FUCKING LACES used to tie the children up. Even Byers thinks it was Hobbs now. There may not be any physical evidence to prove he commited this crime, but circumstantial evidence is strong and Byers was anything but a loving stepfather. The fact he abused Christopher isn't even disputable. I think Myers has some psych problems - but I don't think he was directly involved in the murders. There's just no evidence of that. Unless there's solid evidence that he was involved - he's as innocent as anyone else. We can't accuse a person of a crime we cannot PROVE he committed. That's the whole lesson to be learned from this case. Unless there is clear, irrefutable EVIDENCE - we should not be naming suspects and naming suspects.

Classic profile of a psychopath -- cunning, with several different personalities, a desperate need for attention and violent. He beat his child with a belt the day of his death, he was a hunter who displayed heads on his wall, carried around a knife with human blood on it and set fire with kerosene in the woods. He kept getting his lies mixed up about why he had his teeth pulled.
Classic psychopath. You'll never see him arrested for it though. The Hell he's so fond of preaching is waiting...

The films never made me suspect Mr. Byers. But he struck me as someone who was struggling to feel things through a kind of numbness, by forcing extreme behavior, while at the same time trying to kick drugs. He mentioned that his wife struggled with Heroin addiction. It is really great to see him so sober and healthy and lucid, and hopefully all good things are ahead for him.

I just watched the first two docs and came away with conclusion that Byers was just a guy caught up in both grief and alcohol abuse. It will be interesting to see the third installation and I hope they explain how his POV changed in regards to the WM3's innocence. I am beside myself with joy that these men are finally free and still young enough to enjoy their lives. God knows they deserve it.

JMB has some mental issues (and brain tumor apparently) so I cannot blame him too much for acting the way he was... plus he was just plain angry his son was killed. I would be nuts too. Hope they find the REAL killer soon (Hobbs in my opinion) plus that dude that was covered in blood in the Bojangles.
There literally was NO evidence connecting the WM3 to this... no physical evidence. They grew up in a town that was prejudiced towards anything unlike themselves. plain and simple.

The evidence seems to point in the direction of hobbs. His dna was at the scene, no one elses dna was there and he had a violent past.

An expert who reviewed the autopsy photos thinks animal perditon cause the penis damage and that the serrated knife wounds were human bite marks. He thought the murders seemed more punitive than sexual. Stevie was mos badly beaten so it points to Hobbs, who's DNA they may have found. Don't know if they have a full DNA match yet. It's circumstantial, but stronger than the evidence aganst wm3. Except for Jessie's "confessions" which didn't even conform the evidence.

@melora72 Chris was alive at the time his genitalia was being removed. Evidence suggests he was struggling during the knife thrusts, cause of death, blood loss, and not post mortem. Animals had nothing to do with this.Christopher had far more physical injuries than the other boys, including old wounds and scars that were evident of ongoing child abuse. Chris had high levels of Tegretol in his system to "slow him down" which tells me it was planned. Read the autopsy and coroner reports again.

The reason why they made them accept the plea deal to get out was because they couldnt admit they were innocent after they were imprisoned for so long. If they let them go based on innocence they would have had to payout a huge settlement or face a huge lawsuit. This way they can cover their own asses but not force them to rot anymore for something they didn't do.

Three men's lives have been stolen from them because certain law enforcement refuse to admit they're wrong. DNA has been connected to the step-father of one of the victims, Terry Hobbs. Hair belonging to Hobbs was found knotted inside the shoe string tied around the victims' bodies. This places Hobbs directly at the crime scene, while the crime was being commited. The arrogant police officer should admit he was wrong and swallow his pride. God help them!

If only one of the fibers had matched, it would be entirely possible to suspect others due to the commonality of the fibers recovered. Due to the quantity of fibers recovered (that matched items from the B&E's household), I think it becomes quite clear who was involved in the murder of these three children just on the fiber evidence alone. Add in the confessions & witness testimony, failed alibis and polygraphs, ALL of the evidence in this case points DIRECTLY & ONLY to the WM3. Verdict =GUILTY

1 red rayon – E-2 Christopher's shirt white/black shirt
1 green cotton – E-3 Michael's blue pants
3 red cotton – E-3 Michael’s blue pants, E-1 Michael’s Cub Scout shirt and BR-1 bag at crime scene
2 black polyester - E-134 knife
1 blue polyester - E-134 knife
All of these fibers were linked to Echols & Baldwin, who were both implicated in Miskelleys confession.

They would have had more knowledge of Damien's and Jason's whereabouts than Jessie, a passing acquaintance.
