  • I haven't bought a Narnia movie since the first one, I haven't even bought Prince Caspian.

  • I feel like I'm the only one that actually ENJOYED the VDT movie. I loved it so much that I cried at the end because I felt so attached to the characters (notably Eustace and Reep). I'm probably gonna get lynched for saying this...

  • Dude! It wasn't THAT bad....

  • Just found your channel! It's keen :) I grew up reading the books and Voyage is one of my very favorites. A little piece of my soul died when I saw it in theaters, haven't watched it since then.

  • I still enjoy this movie, the commentary and want more Narnia movies like The Silver Chair and The Last Battle. Star Wars Episode I was quite terrible, Episode IIs second half was really good and Episode IIIs second half fantastic in my opinion. My suggestion is that you do these video blogs about the two up coming The Hobbit movies! I really enjoy these clips of yours and I think you would do a brilliant job on them as well and that Jackson´s result on those will rule that of Lucas and Apted.

  • I cannot purchase this film in good conscience because I have impressionable sons and will not be responsible for their associating this refuse with the masterwork that is Lewis's Dawn Treader. Strong words, I know, but the producers completely missed the point. Apted not only didn't understand the book; he in fact loathes the book and felt he could "fix" what Lewis did "wrong." [not direct quotes, but they capture his apparent outlook]

  • Is it just me or do you seem much older than your last few videos....

  • lol, I love seeing your reaction to just holding the DVD case and your disgust of it.

Love how you hold the DVD with your two fingers like it's disgusting.

  • "So I can criticize it more accurately..." :D

    So awesome...

I totally agree with you, gpuddle...I thought I would like the movie because I figured it would be at very least okay. I was so horrified by how it actually turned out though, I don't think they could have done a worse job on the movie...it just had so many issues...

    I did like 1 or 2 scenes, though... :D

  • Haha. This made me laugh. I still have not bought The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I never thought I would outlast you, glumPuddle...

  • I won't buy it.

Never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon.

  • @adamieie: Hurm.

  • @GPuddle don't take it in a bad way. I understand why you need it. But it's never a bad idea to use a watchmen quote, right? ;)

  • Hahaha this video is so great I want to meet you so bad. :] Classic GP.

  • Have yu been feeling well glumPuddle? I notice you thinner and somewhat tired.

  • I agree, that's the most impractical packaging ever. I only bought it because I'm writing a fix-it fanfic and need the movie as reference.

I just rewatched it for fanfic purposes and I hate it more than I did when I first watched it. Possibly because even my AU fanfic has better dialogue, and I'm not even that good of a writer. It's funny, I still love LWW, I enjoy PC except for Suspian, but I am close to *loathing* VODT. Probably why I'm not on narniaweb much anymore.

  • Yay for no more buying Star Wars movies!

  • @digifreak10101: ...unless they restore the original original versions. I'll never pay money for the "special" editions again.

  • @GPuddle I never really cared about the differences between the versions. I'm just so burned out on Star Wars... been that way since Episode 3 came out.

  • lol. Treating the DVD like it's a rotting piece of food. "Ewwww..." *holds in disgust*

  • Don't be ashamed gpuddle. When it gets into the $5 bin at Wal-Mart, I'm going to buy it too. Not because I like it or approve of what they did, but because no Narnia film collection is going to be complete without it. So I say it's a necessary evil.

  • @BuckWilliams17: I'm actually hoping to never see it next to my LWW and PC movies. I will be keeping it in my sock drawer.

  • haha Jeez. First world problems.

  • I applaud your bravery. I haven't been able to stomach even the thought of purchasing the thing.

  • "I didn't want to feel like I was supporting it--you know when you buy something I feel like I'm supporting it, and you're kinda making the statement 'I in some sense approve of this,' I think."

Dear heavens. I'm not alone. You have no idea how happy I am that you felt the same.

Me, I just want it so I can 1) film an MST of it, and 2) write a semi-parody of it. For lulz and for accuracy. And I want the 2-disc for the deleted scenes.

  • Great ending by the way.

  • I once was thinking of buying the VDT DVD just to complete the collection but I decided against it. I've already seen the movie twice in theaters and I think that was enough.

  • White Witch on Disc 1??? UGH! (*facepalm*)

  • This is the good thing about having siblings: they buy the DVD so you don't have to. No worries though, man. We still consider you a good Lewis fan ;)

  • I have yet to buy the movie. I didn't get to see it in theaters, unlike the first two, which I saw on their opening weekends. My brother/roommate bought the single disc DVD and I watched it, and thought "If they were going to fly through the story this fast, why did they have to change it up so much?"

  • 3:30 Haha, how could GL screw up his own movie...even though it stinks, it's not like Star Wars is an adaption like the Narnia movies.

  • @joshuadjackson: How could Lucas screw up his own movie? There are many ways, sadly. The one that bothered me the most was the color "correction" for the 2004 DVDs. A total mess. (They were rushed because Lucas was working on Episode 3) .

One of the things that made Star Wars special for me was how relatively soft and low-key it looked for a sci-fi/fantasy. The 2004 versions look sharp and oversaturated...like typical flashy sci-fi B-movies.

    Han shot first. ;)

  • @GPuddle Technically the original original original version is only available on VHS or some very rare 8 and 16mm prints... The one on the 2006 limited edition is taken from the 1993 laserdisc version which is altered slightly most of the changes are to audio (alternate takes etc.) but even this release they did some changes to color timing. Still it's much closer to the original than most widely available versions. (Star Wars geeks correct me if I'm wrong about any of this.)

  • @vulcanmario: Fair enough. Having never seen the film projected, I can't say for sure how accurate the 2006 LE transfers are. But my main point still stands: The 2004 versions look sharp and oversaturated. The original versions included on the 2006 LE look soft and low-key.

Here's one thing we can know for sure: In the 2006 LE version, Han shoots first. ;)
