eveofamerica1, you're another Cliff fan named Celso! The other one lives in Houston. So you live in Daly City... Did you see Cliff's concert in SF in the late 1980s (I think)? My brother told me about it but it was such a short notice - I live in Seattle - that I didn't go.
Hey, I'd love to get in touch with you so that we can talk about Cliff! Oh, were you one of the men back in the Philippines, who wore mesh shirts like the one Cliff wore when he sang "The Next Time"?
I think I saw an old clip of The Shadows before I signed up on YT. I don't remember the music. I only remember the end where Jet Harris extinguished his cigarette right there on the stage.
Suz has a funny Cliff fan story. As you know she's originally from HK. In the early days when Cliff had a concert there, she and her friends hang around the venue so that they could hear Cliff for free, as it wasn't well insulated. They were shooed away in no time.
True! Another Filipino fan (Celso of Houston) e-mailed me that The Shadows were a much better band than Elvis' so they were not promoted here. Also they were a threat to The Ventures who, I recently learned are a homegrown group (Tacoma).
I'm waiting to receive the The Shadows "Final Tour" DVD that I ordered.
I have the "An Audience With Cliff" DVD, and I like the kidding between Cliff and Bruce.
Too bad The Shads won't be at the Time Machine tour...
@cliffBwithme I am Filipino I am a Celso, I live in Daly City. I am probably one of the most avid fan of Cliff since the 60's. Cliff and the Shadows are the best musicians of all times.
And thank you for that! I must confess that I love Cliff's earlier songs. But of course he had to go with the trends in pop music. That's why he has lasted this long. He can sing any song.
Do you also read the comments on fans who buy his CDs and DVDs online? In unison they say that it's America's loss not to have known Cliff's music.
But there are some American fans out there. Last week I got an e-mail message from a guy in Arizona. He said he was nine years old when Cliff's "We Don't Talk Anymore" was being played a lot on the radio. He forgot all about it until recently when he heard the song again while shopping at Safeway. So he looked Cliff up on YT and was amazed at all the great music he's been churning for the past 50 years! Ah the wonders of YT!
In the US I see Cliff as a late bloomer, I have been amazed at how many people email me via my website looking for cliff video clips, what is important (to me) is to feature the lesser known songs because they are equally as good as the commercially sucessful songs.
Indeed very few Americans know Cliff now. My husband is from Oklahoma. Poor guy, he has to listen to Cliff when we go on long drives. But he's getting curious about this guy who has cast such a spell on me. He was the one who suggested that I go see Cliff in concert in Glasgow, where I have a friend. He's even paying for my sister who'll be flying from Jacksonville, FL! We meet in Amsterdam. Hopefully I get to see EvergreenTree122 at the airport.
Well, when Gaz comes here to pick up Suz, maybe he can swing by FL and pick me up too. Hey Gaz, great video. "Take me High" is my fav, Cliff movie!!!! Love this song and all the others from it. Well, maybe not The Antibrotherhood of Man, but all the rest are great. My good, good friend found this movie for me and I'll be eternally grateful to her for it. Thank you for posting, you made my morning!
YT is permanently buffeting for me and the newest development is a pink message that tells you ''OOPS WE HAVE LOST CONNECTION''when you try to delete old messages grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
just now it was OOPS!UNABLE TO CONTACT SERVER this is getting me beyond angry and you know what happens when i become angry.....i turn green !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imade another blunder.I search in dictionary "sin". Poor me, it means trespass, error. My intention was to abbreviate the word SINGER. I wrote only sin.... I droped a brick even on Sunday. Poor my English language. Sorry
my dad drove out of camberwell garage, you would have remembered him because he was always so helpful to the public, one a million kind of guy (oh and he had some great cliff ep's

Cliff himself said he didn't smoke even then.
