  • GREAT!!!! I need you every day to start work...

  • more than 20 mistakes bassist should not do. pity

  • @DevonDua Really? Because i did not HEAR one single mistake.

  • @DevonDua Right after reading this comment i felt the outright need to call you a moron. You aren't even 1/16 as awesome as this granny here.

  • @DevonDua whatever mate.... bug off, she was awesome

  • have to learn how to play like this

  • you'd be the coolest grandma ever :D

  • Great stuff.

  • You have amazing tone.

    I bow deep.

  • the bass is sound is too low .. hard to listen cause it's fighting with the drum sound ..

  • @alifiz1996 something wrong with your hearing

  • lets jam

  • siiick

  • Keep on jamming ppl who make ignorant comments have no purpose and life and there jealous because you do.keep up the good work love ya

  • I find the comments that this woman is somehow off the groove rather funny. Perhaps you could float some videos of yourself "in the groove" to educate us a bit?

  • She don´t have the groove, she IS the groove! awesome

  • I am a bass guitar veteran. Sharon has some cool licks and techniques, no doubt. But she is not locking in with, and grooving to, the beat. She is rushing, right out of the gate. At times, she seems unsure of herself. She has great potential, but needs a lot of work to really "be there and represent". I say this with all due respect because I am a strong supporter of female musicianship, but still honest with constructive criticism.

  • @Sanchjoh123 shut the fuck up

  • I never heard of her b4, is she a session musican like carol kaye? She's very good!

  • nothing wrong with the timing, and its called free styling for a reason. Idiots.

  • great playing and fingers of a real bass player

  • Her playing is very sophisticated and tasty. I never get tired of hearing this track.

  • Lotta rude people here. If you go this much time to criticize on YouTube, where are you playing?

  • looks like they put here on fast forward

  • I'm really diggin that 70s jazz bass

  • she use the right amount of slap and finger combo that's really rocks the house

  • yo! sista is in the house bitches! shes crazy

  • Nice right hand damping, great groove, go Sistah!!!

  • of course they have a black person playing the bass

  • AJshinal: You just HAD to bring that up right? This solo is very good nonetheless. Concentrate on the playing, not the race.

  • she's ok i think

  • gostei da madame... toca muito ^^

  • toca bien la tia,,

  • Play and let her play or hush!

  • not very good..

  • not groovy

  • I may never be as great as Me'Shell Ndgeocello, but as a female base player I just want to play well

  • this is freestyle though..isnt it?

  • sweet, a black chick playin bass... not too often u see that

  • I was thinkin' the same thing

  • SHIT

  • you got over 25 years under your belt?

you must be a fat man then! brag brag brag...

  • No, I am not bragging. Do you play bass? And if so how long? I have been playing since I was 7. I don't consider myself the best, but after playing as long as I have, I believe that I have the knowledge to critique somebody's playing. And, this is not very good by any standards.

  • So, then in the beginning there must have been a large bassguitar and a small boy... hahaha.

  • Considering that I was 6'3" by the time I was 12, I was not that small even 7. You still did not answer the questions: Do you even play bass, and if so how long? I play mainly a 4-string fretless bass, but I also play a 6-string fretted and have started to get into playing a 7-string fretless. So I's thinks I can play a bit. I also play piano, drums, violin, and I have been playing guitar before I started playing the bass. So I know a thing or 2 about

composition. Again, not bragging just fact.

  • I'd like to see your video.

  • Yeah, man, show us YOUR video...

  • I'd say you were bragging by bringing up facts that aren't important. I see one place where she is slightly off in her timing. One! And the more I listen to it, the more I'm thinking she's not that off at all. Ever heard of off beats? syncopation? Surely a man of your amazing skill must be able to appreciate some unique style when it is presented. And since I don't see any videos on your account, I find it hard to believe your that good of a bassist at all, or that knowledgeable about theory.

  • I think you have bad timing, because she is just doing different rhythms and beats (which is supposed to sound off)...Although I see where you are going about her being a teacher...

  • agreed, the timing is all over the place.

  • i have to say i agree, it seemed okay at first then the timing issues started to arise and ruined it

  • youre right. anyone criticising you is wrong. PERIOD. schimmelpenninq is a fag

  • now that was some smooth playing right there

  • karımı erkekmi lan :D

  • It seems to me that this is an improvised piece of music. Therefore, it is what it is. It may not sound good to everyone, but we all have different ears, don't we? Maybe she played it exactly the way she wanted; maybe she made mistakes. Listen to any piece of live music by any artist, and you'll find "timing" errors. Go thy way and sin no more.

    PEACE

  • Keep on jammin' and ignore the idiots....they're everywhere....don't let them discourage you. You sound good and many of us have enjoyed your video. ( :

  • @TwoMuchFun64 agreed those are some funky grooves

  • @TwoMuchFun64 Thats right. Sharon rules!!!

  • yeah... I know I am going to get slammed for this... but honestly: this video is horrible. There are many plucking mistakes and timing issues within it. When you consider how easy the groove is those mistakes shouldn't exist. Now, if this was some granny just trying to show that she can jam, then I wouldn't say anything except go granny. But no, this lady is trying to teach others. So honestly, she needs to practice quite a bit and post a vid with NO mistakes and some form of difficulty. Thanks.

  • none of us are perfect, and i dont think play like this is EASY. It takes years to develop a free feel and improvise stuff on the spot.

even marlowedk who's known as the bass teacher on youtube makes mistakes when he plays. so what's the big deal yo, some mistakes aint ruining the groove.

and really, being such a jerk on someone else's video aint helpin you getting anything, buddy.

  • To someone who is just starting out, this type of play can seem difficult. The problem I have with it is that teaching your mistakes to someone else improves nothing. marlowedk I have never heard of. Try looking up some of Victor Wooten's vids. And like I said earlier, I was not trying to be a jerk. 90% of my youtube comments are positive. I just comment when I feel the need to, good or bad. This has nothing to do with her improv skills. Just I don't think it should be used as a learning tool.

  • it says jamming (at part 1 ) , aint saying TEACHING or lesson. and it doesnt have any slow mo section either, so i think everyone knows that its just jamming just to give people the idea of improvising.

  • Just enough flash and groove/taste in superabundance. Yeah!

  • that part after 0.53 sounds like Jimi Hendrix - Fire

  • nice

  • GAUUUUU...MUY BUENO!!

  • nice grandma

  • wow

  • Yeah awesome groove!

  • Wish I lived out there, would gladly learn from this Bassist supreme!

  • nice playin :)

  • I was with her up until about the one minute mark when she loses the one. Keep practicing! HA, I'm an ass.

  • you lost the one, not her... ass.

  • you guys like this stuff do a search for francis rocco prestia or tower of power

  • You go girl.

  • ooooooooooooooooh my god!

  • a woman that doesn't care about breaking a finger nail=awesom bass playergood on you chika you're delighful :-)

  • i expect theres probably a bit of jealousy coming from fohrplay

  • nasty = good

  • Nice video, but i think she was out of the groove at the end...

  • Quality!

  • pretty nasty stuff.

  • cool bass work

  • now thats some good jazz bass

  • It's very good. I want to meet Sharon Ray, Email me! elmerhopper@yahoo.com I want to study under you.
