He composed this song when he was 61... with this experience made DQ soundtrack incredible!

I like this song the most. it remind me when I'm first played DQ4 and control Ryan to walking around the castle talking to people :D

It's kind of cool how the composer looks like a typical nerd but is able to make music that is memorable.

Seeing the castle images makes me wish there was a live action Dragon Quest

@JessicaAlbert13 There is!!!! The Star Dancer's ballet company of Japan uses the orchestrated version to do a fantastic and beautifully choreographed, action packed ballet on the theme of Dragon Quest. It's truly amazing! I wish they'd tour it outside of Japan, but it's a big production, and it's hard to find sponsors...

@JeremyNasmith Oh yes! I have seen snipets of the ballet. Sadly though the only character I recognized from the game was Torneko. Do you know if there is a ballet featuring any other notable characters such as Maya? It seems Maya would be perfect for the ballet since she's a dancer and all!

@JessicaAlbert13 Unfortunately, I don't know the characters of the game very well. But I do know that whenever Star Dancers performs the piece, the composer conducts the orchestra. A friend of mine is in the company now, and always enjoys performing Dragon quest. The whole ballet is posted now on Youtube, so you might find some more characters you'd recognize if you watch the whole thing...

@JessicaAlbert13 Isn't it though? The composer did such a great job of orchestrating the music, and the choreography is dynamic and tells the story well while staying within the strict classical idiom. Yeah, I'm a ballet dancer, and a friend of mine who used to dance with me in the National ballet of Canada now dances with Star Dancers, the company who produced the Dragon Quest ballet. I also know the guy who dances the lead in the video, we've worked together in Japan ... Glad you enjoyed!
