Was that a 3 inch floppy disk you inserted into your pc? If so did you made any modifications to your pc?? Have you not tried a faster way to transfer data from pc to cpc, just link them up like I did back in 2007, a great deal faster to load games etc. You need a transfer lead which you can make yourself & connects to your cpc & pc, just like a network, easy!
