Bob Barr thinks that perverted sickos who make "crush videos" that show pets being tortured to death should be legal. That's one of the reasons why he lost his next election.
SHAME on the Libertarian Party for embracing such a depraved little worm!
I'm voting for Barr/Root in 2008, and giving them my full support! I refuse to live in a dictatorship, and these guys are the only organized opposition to that "change"!
You are so wrong about Chuck Baldwin. I saw him speak for Ron Paul when he was campaigning for Ron Paul in South Carolina, and he would tell his audience, that he does not support Ron Paul because Ron Paul is a Christian, but because of his dedication to uphold and defend the Constitution. Bob Barr voted for the Patriot Act.
stop ignoring the 1st amendment and allow for 3rd parties to voice their opinion.. to call on the media to not allow for someone to speak or have free speech is shameful! you dont have to agree but its their right to be heard! shame on you dude SHAME ON YOU!
I agree with a lot of you that chuck baldwin is philosophically better, however our revolution is such an underdog, in the media. That we can't afford to devide ourselfs, remeber Barr will be on the ballot Baldwin may not.
agreed.. Baldwin is more socially conservative but i think the revolution needs to combine and get as many people under the same party as possible! every1 needs to get behind barr and make a statement that constituitonalists are on the rise and will be a force to reckon with in american politics in the next 4-20 years or 1-5 election cycles
Bob Barr voted for the Department of Homeland Security, the war, and the Patriot ACT. How does that make him different from Obama or Hiliary when they say they've changed? The Patriot Act was specically written for U.S. Citizens. You can NOT make a mistake like that. Plus, it is suspicious that this guy has gotten more media attention, than Ron Paul ever did! He's already been on Hannity and Glenn Beck. He was on Glenn Beck before he even got the nomination.
I am glad to see people recognizing their errors and changing their minds on important issues. Liberty is only going to prevail if LOTS of people change their minds. We cannot continue sitting in the corner being self-righteous. The judgmentalism of libertarians is going to forever bury us.
i would agree that it's a bit suspicious that barr has gotten loads of media attention already, but i wouldn't read too much into it; Paul was one of many Republican candidates, so they felt they could squeeze him out of the picture without anyone noticing; Barr is the actual Libertarian nominee, therefore they're required to give him media time
also, Barr has done a lot to reverse many of the positions he once stood for- that's how he differs from Mccain, Obama, Hillary, etc. he's active
Everyone needs to look at Wayne Allen Root and his stance on terrorism. He has mocked Dr. Paul and called him weak on the war on terror and is an interventionist. Barr is not much better. I wish we had a better choice.
Don't write in Ron Paul! Unlike Paul, Barr actually had the balls to leave the Republican party instead of whining about how it changed. Get over it. Political parties all tend to mutate slowly over time. I can't tell you how happy I am that I have a REAL choice this November.
Bob Barr is a former C.I.A. Agent plus he has a crappy voting record when he was in the congas he voted for the war and the Patriot Act. You mite ask where I fond all this out.. Bob Barr said this him self on the video "Bob Barr Nomination Speech" Every L.P. should see it!
I know he voted for the war, the PATRIOT act, the Defense of Marriage Act, and a slue of other non libertarian bills, but that doesnt make me love Wayne Allyn Root any less.
Yeah.. but which would you rather have? Obama, whos going to cross out the first & second amendments with a red pen, McCain, whos going to keep up in Iraq for a hundred years, or someone who claims he has changed his neocon ways, who has the greatest public speaker in the whole country as his VP?
well you have good point but I just do not trust the C.I.A. So I will support Ron Paul until the end but I do not think I will support Bob Barr. To be onist with you I do not know who I will support for 2008 but I will NOT support McCain or Obama.
I fell in love with him when i saw the Libertarian Debate the day before the convention.. Hes just so inspiring, and energetic, and i love what he was talking about.
More Guns, the right of parents to choose what school their children go to, gay marriage, the PATRIOT Act, the War on Drugs, War on Terror.. i started watching the debate about a half hour into it, so i missed some of it, but what i saw of it was amazing.
Ya those are the same resins I supported Mary Ruwar. I would have supported Wayne Root but he is a little new to L.P. But that does not meen he is a bad person for president.
Lojikbom: Ron Paul works closely with and has cordial relations with socialist Dennis Kucinich, but I wouldn't vote for him if the Libertarian Party nominated him to run for President.
Im a Libertarian and having watched the convention debate and the nomination process I know more about Barr and I do feel that he has changed from his old ways. Im voting for my party and Bob Barr/Wayne Allyn Root.
Just a question: Before the libertarian party sold out with these guys, did they (the LP) ever get this kind of nice, reasonably fair treatment on FOX? Search for "Harry Browne Fox" Turned up no relevant videos, but admittedly it is now a bit old.
Since in the past the LP messaging overweighted drug legalization and sexual preference issues the main stream media did not take them seriously. These are not mainstream issues.
If Barr/Root keep the focus on economics and foreign policy they are likely to gain a lot more attention than LP tickets of the past.
The LP sold out their principles for an extra 1-2% of the vote. A man who voted for the Iraq war, the patriot act, who supports spending billions and sending troops overseas to fight the drug war among many other things.
Some say he has change in 2 years, i personaly dont trust the man as far as i could throw him. This man is not for liberty or smaller government,he is a Neo-Con.
I cannot and will not cast a vote for Barr, ill will write in Dr Paul, besides we are getting Obama anyway.
second thought, if Dr Paul endorsed Barr then i would cast my vote for him. Also the Constitution Party may have someone worth voting for, so i wont count them out.
I expect the LP ticket to generate an order magnitude more media attention, and consequently an order of magnitude more votes, than the Constitution Party.
Ron Paul will probably back this ticket, but will surely wait till after the GOP convention, and play it coyly until he does.
The main stream media will take pleasure in pumping the spoiler question, and Barr/Root can take advantage of that.
The Constitution Party is what the Religious Right wants the GOP to be. Do not be fooled by their name they are the equivalent of Dixiecrats in the South; States rights as an excuse to allow states to discriminate. Mike Huckabee has a similar platform as the pastor they are running currently. They are not concerned with proper Constitutional function; they want a Christian country.
The Constitutional Party is the Party of the Constitution but they are far from an established party at the moment.
If for no other reason, I would recommend voting LP just to give the LP an even better shot in 2012.
This Barr/Root thing is an experiment for us. Badnarik was very principled, but perpetuated the Looney Libertarian meme. Barr/Root may not be lifelong Libertarians, but their message is on track and I'd still rather have them than Obama or McCain anyday.
I'll write in Ron Paul before I vote for the Constitution party candidate. While I realize Barr is not the best thing civil libertarians could've had, I don't care for the civil fascism that the CP promotes. FTR, I hate that they call themselves the "Constitution" party!
Hmmm... Name calling as a method of attacking... Where have we seen this method used before? Oh yeah, when the main stream was trying to discredit Dr. Paul and scare people away from supporting him. Maybe Chuck Baldwin DOES have the right message? When Baldwin was campaigning for Paul he always told his audience that he was not supporting Paul because he was a Christian, he said it was because of his dedication to protect and uphold the constitution. Do some research, don't sell out.

I love this ticket even more every day. I'm hoping core Libertarians, disgruntled longtime Repubicans, and even Hillary supporters strongly consider voting Barr/Root this year, as they are the ticket with more appeal amongst all ideologies than any other LP ticket.
Sad that the best third party ticket ever has Mr. Root on the VP ticket. Did anyone watch this guy at the LP convention and seriously beleive he should lead a country???
I'm sure he is a good guy, but as much as it seems like he is trying, I will not buy a car from him.

Unless Ron Paul endorses them after he drops out (if he drops out) in November, then I'm still writing him in. He started this revolution and he's the only one with a voting record that shows sincerity.
"This revolution is bigger than me" in Ron Paul's own words. Write-in votes for Paul will be ignored. Vote for an actual candidate so your voice will be heard. Don't let him down.
Compromising our values to make a "sensible" vote is exactly what perpetuates this 2-party system bulls**t. Put your foot down and vote for someone whose record proves sincerity in what they stand for.
Barr is basically a neocon trying to get on the ticket he's full of shit. He's not a libertarian. I watched the libertarian convention most libertarians will probably leave the party after this bullshit.
Some quotes from an open letter from Steve Kubby who represented the radical wing of the LP along with Ruwart at the convention.
"I can tell you that Barr and Root are sincere and effective spokesmen for reigning in the government, restoring our constitutional rights, allowing states to determine their own laws regarding drugs and for
the full legalization of medical marijuana."
"I now believe Barr and Root are the strongest pro-freedom ticket we've ever had"
Wow. That really does help Barr and Root's credibility. Kubby was my choice for VP and Ruwart was who I wanted for the President but if Kubby is willing to say that about Barr/Root I may just have to vote for them. I guess I am voting for them. Now, Paul needs to endorse the LP, after the GOP convention, and nothing could stop momentum from picking up behind this ticket.
I'm a Ron Paul supporter, but writing in Paul will do nothing. AFAIK write-in votes generally aren't counted unless a recount is needed. It's like turning in a blank ballot.
Writing in for Paul would be a good plan except no one will know you voted for him since he won't be a candidate. Any write-ins for Paul will be easily ignored. As for Ruwart, she just didn't have it. No name recognition + weak credentials + zero charisma = business as usual; i.e. going nowhere. Barr/Root isn't perfect but it was the right choice for the LP. they're actually moving forward for once and the potential is exciting.
See... I'm not voting for them. I'm voting for myself. I have to live with myself. I like living with myself happily. I don't have to be part of any winning team or any of that. People , don't you understand that that is all your vote truly is anyway?
Ruwart had some interesting ideas. The problem is that she also took extremely controversial stances on certain issues. Had she gotten the nomination, the press would've had a field day at the LP's expense thus marginalizing it for years to come.

Converted to Libertarianism (supposedly) in March 2007..
Proposed a McCain/Lieberman ticket on the Internet in 2006..
Donated campaign money to Joe Lieberman (has never donated to any Libertarian or Ron Paul)..
Is a full-blown, pro-war neoconservative who calls Ron Paul "weak on the war on terror".

Good performance. The host was cordial.

You've got my vote. I agree with Barr on almost everything.

I'm writing in the true hero. Dr. Ron Paul.
