All I'm saying is, there is no point to saying he's a bad driver. Yeah, it sucks he wrecked such a beautiful car. SHIT HAPPENS. I'm not bragging by saying I am a good rider. I am just really experienced on a bike. I have well over 90,000 miles on street bikes. 24,000 on my 07 zx6r. And I had 21,000 on it before my accident. Nothing can prepare you for certain situations. I live in the Puget sound, in Washington. About 30-35% of my riding has been in the rain. I was just unlucky once. Big deal.
To everyone shooting him down, saying he's a shitty driver, I am willing to bet that not a a single one of you has ever been in a car accident. (as the driver) Cold tires aren't something to fuck with. You can just be driving normal, and go sliding. I ride an 07Kawasaki Zx6r, and crashed once, going 20 in a 25 mph corner in the rain, and the back end slipped right out from under me because the tires were cold and wet.And I am a pretty damn good rider. And I go to the tracks almost every Sunday.
I was lucky...and tall too! Dont get too crazy and your OK, the newer S2Ks have a (DSC) program—after 05 I think--to keep people from the then ever increasing tires up scenario, S2Ks can be a handful near their limit--but AWSOME FUN! Also consider that the A-pillar is actually a windshield roll bar, part of Hondas excellent engineering and if you plan on racing simply get a roll cage. Other then that, youre tall, and its a convertible.
PS if you buy any sports car get it to a track, Auto-X or HPDE, and learn more boaut it and yourself...in other words, if I only knew then what I know now...
HOLY SHIT. Is your scalp like gone or something? You alright already? That car looks like it has took a slide on its roof upside down for quite some distance!
Best part of the s2k is it has steel going through the frame of the window making it so you lie slanted when you rollover, it lies on that and the roll hoops behind your head.
Lol, you talken to me? You must be a smarty pants poopy head if you are...or cause you know me...lol. How about a CFI, that means flight instructor hot shot...
If you don't wreck it, scatch it, dent it...it means your not trying! Garage Queens should stay near their garages as most of their drivers/owners are potentially the less experienced drivers. Cars are for driving! The s2000 is perhaps the best driving/drivers car of the decade. rmaltbie1... I hope you get another s2000 and drive the $hit out of it!
I wouldnt call someone a shitty driver unless I knew their level of driving, and or, racing experience, just like I wouldnt call you an idiot—because who knows you may not be one. Error @ 95% what about Porsche, Corvettes or BMWs, Vipers, etc I bet there really bad too, LOL.
We can only hope to learn from the error of our ways, if not, then we know nothing, right? Finally I still like S2K's, but theres y few trackdays over the years that I remember at least 1 S2K not spining off.
Fuck you . . . Shit happens. I flipped my S2000 because a deer that ran out in front of me. Doesnt mean I dont know how to drive. It means shit happens. So next time you get into an accident just think of yourself as one of those dumb mother fuckers who shouldnt be behind the wheel of a car. Maybe next time you get in a wreck replace your drivers licence and car with a bicycle.
Words of wisdom 4 sure! The accident happened in Nov. 03, the car was 6 months old—or as you may say I was 6 months in-it, with about all of 6k on the OD, and no track time at all. S2Ks are amazing but the early ones were a little twitchy--but you are correct--this crash was my fault, I overdrove the car far past my ability and its limits. It took several years to get back into top gear speed, but now Im working on a race license-NASA, and I'm a driving instructor for SV HPDEs.
Im not trying to be mean or anythign so dont take offence but what I got out of it is you where driving beyond your skill and beyond what conditions allow. Take a lesson from this if you wanna drive like that take a course and learn too do it right.
I think your confused, even though everyone, especaily Honda knows the care is twitchy, hance the suspesion mods and now fulltime stabiilty control--I was thanking HONDA that the car didn't fall apart...duh!
Cold tires, cold night, winding road along a hillside. Feel free to ask me more if your interested! I landed upside down and the dome light came on! Thank god for Honda engineering!

its a fucking pos honda find a better car people just dont use their brains these days o and 0to60in16seconds is an idiot if your in a honda it will take you 16 years punk
well if its performance r the issue here, well yes it maybe true. if other things r the issue, then no, there's no point in buying a honda that'll "smoke" a more driveable/prestigious 70 grand car.
actually just buy an ek hatch, drop a k20a type r in there, turbo it and say goodbye to mustang gt, cobras, saleens, dodge chargers, camaros and that hatch will only cost u 10,000 fully built. and a muscle car would be 50,000+ grand and their heavy as hell. 4,000 pounds and the hatch weighs 2200.
no questions, the s2k is just so much car for you, i mean it's a mans car not a slow, ugly, smug mother fucking prius that goes 0-60 in 3 days (but only down hill)
you just can't drive maby the accident should have knocked some sense in to you
Yep I'm sure it did. This happened in 2003 and the car was an 03 and just over 7 months old. I had to argue with the insurence co about price becouse at that time s2k's were selling in Cali at a premium, mine I got for MSRP. Finally they caved in and I got fair reimbursment. I remember expalining that the engine was probably worth 5k, anyway it took a few weeks of haggling and fact finding on my behalf. Never say yes to an insrurence co the first or even secound time around.
Man, I feel for you. I flipped my GS-R a while back and thankfully walked away. Glad you're okay. I feel for you doubly because I just got an S2K, '04 NFR... second day of ownership I lost traction in on a WOT 1-2 shift, spun and nailed a curb. Awesome cars but they can be unforgiving on cold tires. Hope you bounced back okay. Did the roll hoops do their job?
TY for the good word, and I hope your OK too--took about a year. 05 they finaly added a some kind of stability control in the S2K although it took BMW many years--and just finally got it right dynamicaly that is. The S2K 'roll bars' is really the front window pillers-frame, but the seat bars are super strong as well. If your tall though and go in wheels-up and the airbag deployes the top of your head is likely to get trimmed off--ugg. I went in wheels-up backend first--no airbag. PC
They can be a handful, I got my 03 fully sideways at 80mph on cold tires and almost did both me and the car, I was going round a climbing left hander and the back stepped out, I recovered the left drift and went right, recovered the right and went left again and so on. Chewed up the rear rims and my confidence in the car, didn't enjoy driving it again for about a year after that.
Indeed! I drive a steptronic auto bimmer now with DSC--sport mode--(track days only both hands on wheel eyes front:) and love it. It may not be as pure, but neither am I these days, and it holds its own against the tuners just fine--pretty smart computers and trannys these days--like Nissan's GT-R technology totaly sick stuff, but that is the future--never really liked shifting gears while racing all that much anyway! Love to see the
I've got an '02 and I know how quick the car can get backwards, and it's nearly impossible to get it back once you lose the rear end unexpectedly. That's a helluva crash though!
Indeed, irinically letting of the power is not always the answer to keeping her bow first--ala drifting! Lots a fun! If you have never tracked the car I would highly recomend finding you local Auto-x, or track day events, I love track days. The car will tell you alot about itself on the track. But watch out for cold tires and road condition. It breaks loose much quicker when cold--duh!
Before the S2000, I had an Integra GSR... lightweight flywheel and a header. Looked completely stock. I took it Button Willow, Laguna Seca and Willow Springs pretty often. It's a blast. Haven't had the S2000 out though... I need to get some track tires. The street tires are $1000/set.
My friend and I were just debating whether the seat-rollbars would be effective... case closed. Thanks for sharing. I love mine. This is a good reminder.
Keep in mind hieght, if I went in wheels up and hit frontend first--deplyoing air bags-- could have potentialy straightened my body position and lifted by head about eight inches above the seat bars. I crashed backwards and the bags never deployed. I'm 6'3" and still half a brain.
TYVM Everyone said how lucky I was, but of course I didn't feel that way at the time. That was in 2003 and I said I'd never own another FAST car without stability control. So I stopped with fast cars and bikes and went Jeeping. Now we have a BMW and I'm full throttle-- track only—and find myself looking for a 2003 S2k for the track— go figure. Great car, but it will bite; watch the cold tires/road conditions. PC 2 u.
