  • What kind of monitor are you playing on there? Are you using any kind of convertor or scaler?

  • いいねぇ!!! シュラカもしっかり決めてくるのは、上級者ですね!

  • for a 1996 game this had mad good graphics.

  • looks the same as the dreamcast version :)

  • I hope this game gets released on Xbox 360 Live Arcade someday because Genki did a piss poor job converting this game to dreamcast back in 1998.

  • @kiltsonfire164

Would be nice to have easier access to an arcade perfect port, but Sega are reluctant to bring Shenmue and Jet Set Radio to XBLA let alone a vastly outdated fighting game, not to mention we have VF5 Final Showdown on the way sometime this year.

  • Yes, Sega arcades were graphically way ahead of its time. I hope Model 3 could be emulated someday, cause I want to play Virtua Striker 2, Daytona 2, VF3 arcade versions (not Dreamcast).

  • @Aguz25 u can get the model 3 emulator. i had it myself and had VF3 working on it but, i need a better pc to work it. do a search and u will find it.

  • CGボード使ってるーーwどんだけ改造してるんだ!?ていうかどこでCGボードをてにいれたー!?

  • I remember seeing this in arcades back in '98...now remember, this was 2 YEARS after this game had come out. I couldn't believe my eyes..that my joystick input was controlling characters in an environment that looked like that...

The machine I played it on had a banner over it saying "real time cg system" and by god I believed it...I thought I was playing FMV. It was visually stunning and years ahead of its time.

  • 14 years passed and the graphics its still good, sega it was always ahead of its time

  • SEGA's Model 4 ray tracing capable hardware is currently in development

Further information is to be found at the following address -

    fgnonlinedotwebsdotcom

  • @pornostar100 lol i am sega fan for ages but the only system sega could make this time for make graphics is for shittracing because of the budget for the arcade machines is cut and is not compare to the budget of the 90.sega will always be the best for me software and hardware but after the dreamcast era sega is dead and the dreamcast 2 roumors its shit.sega is dead long live history and dreamcast

  • omg dude where did you get a model 3 . man this guy has all the arcade machins :)

  • Where'd you get the board, and for how much? o-o

  • love Virtua Fighter- but it all went downhill after this one.

  • Nope VF5 is the best fighting game at the moment by far!

  • look at akiras arms, they didnt look like that in the dreamcast

  • true but they should have looked like that.

  • Comment removed

  • I always thought "tb" stands for Team Battle. I may be wrong....

  • It does.

  • amazingly smooth for its age

  • compared to VF1 and 2, the 3rd installment was relatively easy but definitely not a button pushing game. i believe they said VF3 had 1000s of moves.... i'm drunk, time to drink now....

  • i'm about to whip out the ol dreamcast.

    this brings back memories.

visually this was the most impressive looking game in the arcades back in 1996.

remember the arcade days. now consoles rule the gamers.

  • You made Akira look weak

    Lau's Stage

  • this game is da shit!! love it ;o;

  • this is the most comprehensive fighting game ever made, that's my opinion. VF1 and 2 are completely lame compared to 3.

  • I just want to know. Why can't the current home consoles do these "old" virtua fighter games right? (Or as they used to say "Arcade perfect")

  • who said they couldn't do them? the quality of a port or emulation of a title is only as good as the team behind it.

and yes, he current gen of consoles - 360 and PS3, could totally handle these games, in both emulated or ported form.

  • Yeah they say that. But Watch one day when and if they do something will be off.

  • all i can say the first time i saw virtua fighter 3 it was a holy moment somthing that i still feel to this very day that game was more than amazing at that time back in 1996 the thought of a sega home system running this arcade perfect i would have sold my soul to the devil for money to by that sega console

  • vf 2 was released on 96, i think 3 was released in 98

  • no,VF2 was released on 1994 and VF3 was released on 1996

  • No, VF2 was released in late 1994 (Japan) and early 1995 (U.S. and rest of the world).

    VF3 was released in 1996.

  • VF3 was the only one I never really played. How is it?

  • Not as good as two, but better than four.

  • Personal opinion. They're all good.

  • I disagree. I think It wasn't no where near as good as 4. But I do think that 3 wasn't as good as 2.

  • 4 Was all about twitchy combos and whoever can mash buttons fast enough, and was the furthest from the original Virtua fighter spirit of calculated strikes.

3 was not as good as 2, but still had enough sense to not have psycho combos systems.

Leave combos for the unwashed tekken masses.

We virtua fighter players eat with utensils, while tekken players eat with their hands like animals, filthy PlayStation playing animals.

  • AMEN

  • luls

  • Virtua Fighter 2 >>> Virtua Fighter 3.

VF3 had a slower pace, but ive only player the dreamcast version.

  • well the dreamcast version, its far far away from the original arcade version

  • you think? I think dreamcast version wasn't that different. the dreamcast produced better graphics than this, just look at soulcalibur

  • @nooblet911 it's kinda like Tekken

  • @MrTsunayoshisawadax The only similarities between the two series is that they're 3D brawlers.

  • Wow, those buttons were taking a pounding, LOL.

    Anyway, thanks for the footage.

  • pretty cool. arcade version >>>>> anything else.

  • i've always wondered why the hand and finger models were shit regardless of whether it was the arcade or FC version..... the rest of EVERYTHING looks great, cept those damn fingers.

  • Because the MODEL 3 board can only render slightly over 1 million polygons per second.

    that's a lot less than last-gen consoles

(DC/PS2/GCN/XBOX) which can render 5M to 20M polygons/sec (with textures, lighting, and all features on). The VF3 character models can only be so detailed. There was nothing that even came close to this in 1996. Other games of the time, Tekken 2 and Tekken 3 looked like crap in comparison.

  • lol dude ya don't gotta tell me about video game history of Sega's hardware and the 90's :) i know all about it. i was a total Sega fan and this game back in 1996 just made me love Sega more, wat with how graphically stunning it was. VF3 took a dump all over Mario64 lol Still, it would've been nice if they'd touched up the graphics just a little for the Dreamcast version. the DC can handle model 3 without a sweat...

  • mario 64 and this were two totaly different games, so dont talk crap. especially because this was on the arcades and mario 64 was on a home console

  • hey n00b, did you even read all 3 posts in the correct order? cuz i swear you're taking this the wrong way >_>

either way, if you can give me a better graphical achievement from back in 1996 to compare VF3 to, then be my guest...

  • yes it was the most graphically advanced game in 1996, but it was not available for home systems. thats was my point

  • well up until the 128-bit gaming era, that was almost always the case with arcades vs consoles. i wish arcades were still on the cutting edge, but sadly those are years gone past.

  • yeah that would be cool. immagine how good could a arcade game look with the latest pc technology

  • oh ya definitely it'd be awesome. you know that there are quite a few arcade games that run on PCs in arcades right? :-) besides, i dunno about you, but for me it's come to the point where graphics aren't even the big impression point anymore since we've just about reached realism...

  • I think the next big step should be surrealism, ha ha

  • aww, dude, how did you emulate this

  • He brought the model 3 broad; not using emulator.

  • awsome. theyre probably expensive. i have the DC ver. anyway, so im all set

  • Actually they're not this day and age. You do however have to go through the trouble of setting everything up.

  • He is not emulating it.

It's running on a real MODEL 3 board.

  • Thank you for bringing back good memories.
