Lol at the description. you forgot. It's a battle between classes. Darcy being the upper class and Lizzy being the lower classes, and the fact that those classes should not have mixed in those days. Its a fairytale really. Because if a upperclass man married or even "Deeply Consorted" in those days. The man would be thrown out of his ranks and his family would dis--own him

Honestly it's embarrassing how many times I have watched this movie. It has always been and will continue to be my favorite movie. Mrs. Darcy, Mrs. Darcy, Mrs. Darcy... if only situations as these occurred more often. I hate that this movie is such a fantasy. But it's so wonderful in every way and Matthew McFadyen and Keira Knightley are beautiful in it. Absolutely wonderful characters.

I have seen this movie easily over 20 times. At first, I did not enjoy it because my sister made me watch it 7 times, but miraculously I only saw the same part. Once I actually sat down and watched it by myself, I fell in love with this movie. I have always loved this time period and this movie made me appreciate it even more. I feel really lonely afterwards, like I want to cry yet I can't figure out why.

This movie always makes me feel like a failure in love. lol. Its an amazing movie, and though I appreciate the way the 1995 version sticks to the book, not many people will sit through 4 hours of video, and the cast for this one is much much better. Matthew Macfadyan and Keira Knightley were amazing together!

This was a well made movie and lovely musical score...Bravo...I never tire of this movie and "Persuasion". Now will someone please make "A Tale of Two Cities" in the same style and quality. That is my all time favorite book but no version has been made worthy of the story in the book as yet. Robert Pattinson would make a wonderful Sydney Carton I think.

The book and this movie are so wonderful. Jane Austen is truly one of the greatest authors of all time. I agree so much with Halszka, I always feel so happy and lonely after watching this movie.

One of my favourite scenes when Darcy helps Lizzie to climb into the carriage and she's surprised to touch his hand and of course scene when they're dancing and it seems to them that they're alone in the ballroom.

And always always I end up with huge hole in my heart and feeling of loneliness after this movie.

I really wouldn't like to seem not empathic enough or cruel, but here's what I think:

1, most Mr. Darcy's of today's world are being ridiculed and turned down, so they forget about their late habits and approaches to women.

2, we live in an age, where us women have a say in everything and no longer play the passive third party

3, this is too nice to be true, figuratively as well as practically speaking: men usually don't know that much what they should do

5, since us women are no longer fit for the circumstances of that world, we wouldn't know how to deal with such behaviour

so

all you brooding, day-dreaming girls out there can remain freaming about a hero such as Darcy, or give the poor guys of today a chance, see and encourage the possibility in them of becoming Darcys for you

(all this doesn't mean that I don't dote on this film :) )

I wish I could travel back there. And I simply cannot not adore this love story. It's heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. (I've never thought that my comment would receive that amount of feedback. I remember writing it during hard 'exam mode' studying, all of it was so true to my heart as it is today.)

my response got offensive (I love the story, too). it was exam period for me as well and I was a bit impatient anyway. I guess back then people sure knew how to get along with each other, yet women didn't have a say in most things. whereas today they do but at the cost of men getting less and less man-like. so I think we can conclude that every time has its advantages and disadvantages.
