As true as it is for girls needing to learn self defense, this demo was rather misleading. Almost none of those techniques would be useful in a real self defense situation. It's fine for show, of course, but it gives the wrong idea I believe. Surely they actually teach better self defense techniques but I'm just saying it's not right to really give off the wrong impression to onlookers.
Some viewers seem not so impressed, but I am. Granted I am more of a martial arts fan than a participant, and can't provide a sound critique of the real-world effectiveness of the techniques shown here; but Stephanie seems to have the techniques themselves perfected, and at least in a simulation her bearing seems to indicate that fear would not hinder her application of these techniques in a confrontation.
This demo is anything but reality. Employing the same techniques in a real fight could result in the defender being overpowered by a larger attacker in this case. TKD kicks can work IF they hit their mark, but TKD close quarter techniques are usually watered down
There was no sense of real danger, any emotion in the demo. The demo was good, but felt dead. The demo has to come alive to the viewer, making them think that "oh wow they are really fighting" even though they know that it is all choreographed. Overall a good performance which deserves a solid B!
First a good show I saw some nice moves, a little embellishment here and there, but for a demo it is exceptable! All of those moves would definitely work on the streets! However, the demo to anybody would not look realistic. There is nothing wrong with the moves, but the overall feeling of the atmosphere.
None of that would ever work on the street. You'll never see it in reality. Never. That little kick over the back of the head ---- totally bogus. Rely on this for self-defense? You'll get killed.
2. She wasn't hitting full force, and slowed her attacks down so she wouldn't damage them-safety first in these things. Notice no pads? All they had was cups.
3. She added a bit of a flourish to some of these.
4. You have obviously *never* been kicked in the head.
5. The techniques were perfect, she went for the groin only *after* she had an opening to it. Very realistic, only 2 or 3 good hits such as that would disable her assailants.
Nice storyline

I am not gonna support any martial arts schools unless they stop promoting misandry through those wacky demonstrations.

I wonder if she can, or has, used her skills in a real life fight. She seems pretty tough!

Is possible for a girl of that age to injure the testicles with a kick?
For example if a girl is in really dangerous situation can she break the testicles with a kick in order to escape?

I have to say "self-defense" in a tournament has to be my least favorite event cause it usually ends up looking like an episode of power rangers
