Arent sundogs something that occur in high humidity OR winter??? I dont see the telltale HUMIDITY (clouds) in the sky and obviously it isnt winter...I took a picture of the EXACT SAME THING June 3rd in mn. I have done a little digging and have come to the conclusion that these are rare occurences that need specific conditions in order to occur. Look at how many videos there are of this in the last few years. Why are they rare if were seeing them all over?

Now yes, it has to be cold, and frankly if it's seen on noon the ice particles have to be pretty high straight above, and it's usually pretty damn cold in 7-10km altitudes. If you have warm air raising up and cooling down, the water condensates and if it's cold enough you'll get ice crystals. Simple. Consider it's snowing at very high altitudes. Not too common maybe, but yeah.

Diffraction patterns due to a certain kind of particulate in the atmosphere. When there is trails of sprayed particles in the skies, this appears. But some people seem more interested on calling them "names" than on a scientific explanation in relation to what is happening in the skies. Ask: would this happen if there would be no spray of the skies? Everybody knows the answer: absolutely NOT. Measure the absorption spectrum and try to compare it with a normal situation.

We get these in phoenix all the time. mostly see them around sunset time. an orangish glow of sun reflection from the chemclouds. obviously not natural. once i noticed how the moon at night caused an opening halo in the fully covered chemtrailed sky. The moons gravity doesnt do that to natural clouds. wish i could got that on tape.

BTW, the phenomena in this video (the halo around the sun) called a "circumscribed halo", sundogs would appear along this halo though.

I must agree that these so call Sun Dogs/Chembows form after planes have been leaving them trails.

I'm 40 years old and these things are new to me (first became aware of them in 2004) along with the Persistent trails.

Flicking though the family pictures first signs I've got of them trails was in 1999.

Do a youtube search with the phrase "ww2 contrails" and you will find a video showing this phenomenon occuring back in '44. It's been described in newspaper articles all the way back to the 20's, in fact.

Sun dogs and 22-degree halos are made by ice crystals acting as prisms and that's exactly what persistent contrails are. Tiny ice crystals from engine exhaust.

I too am 40 and do remember persistent contrails. As singedrac mentioned, they have been observed as far back as the 1920's.
