Sure, the story changes from the Alladin love-story to saving the world type of story, but still. Square Soft (Enix) did a damn good job on this game. my favorite FF of all time

Vivi in this game was a bad ass kid with a huge heart and intelligence. and most of all, strength. in kh2..he was some punk ass kid who followed others.

I guess it was trying to go back to it's old roots, and not many liked that. I loved the game. I still have it and play it til this day. Besides. It had the greatest soundtrack IMP, with FF8's soundtrack being my 2nd fav. Such a shame over-rated games such as FF7 have to get ran into the ground from having sooooo much sequals and stuff.

I hate that ugly tail!! This game looks great and all, and was okay. But compared to final fantasy VIII and X and XII its RUBBISH! :S It was the most easiest, rubbish gameplay and dummest story ever. Also the music was pathetic, there was nothing like return to zanarkand, hold my thoughts or that angel song in ffviii. :s
No way. FFIX is the best. Talking about music, its got the best sound track IMO. 'You're not alone', 'The Place I'll Return to Someday', 'Rose of May', 'Jesters of the Moonless Sky', 'Vamo' alla flamenco', 'Airship Hildagarde', 'Pandemonium'...so many. Nobuo Uematsu, the composer, said FFIX was his favourite score.
And the story was amazing. Sakaguchi, creator of Final Fantasy, said that FFIX was the best one ever.
You can't say one final fantasy IS better than another one, but i am a fan of all ff games and i have fallen in love with many of them, but IX is probably my favourite.
I will also say that i have played all of the games apart from FFIII and i regard the 3 original releases on PS1 (VII,VIII & IX) as golden age of FF, my personal favourites.
I think the reason why ff9 wasn't as popular, is because the newer gen. of gamers came on board w/ff7 and 8 and they weren't used to the mid evil look. Thats y the gamers that grew up w/ the original ff games LOVED IT, and alot of the newer gamers didn't know what to think, and didn't apprecaite it for how good it REALLY was. BEST of the series i say!.
This was the first final fantasy game I ever played finished too. I really loved it, I wonder why it wasn't so popular like 7, 8 and 10? Those ones had so much campaign for them and the characters were so well known.

Final Fantasy IX is in every respect a much greater game than KH2. I did enjoy KH2 but it's just not in the same league.

There where a few places that seemed a tad weak, but a lot of people seem to have a hard time making good FFIX trailers. Great job though! I love how everything fit the music so well. ^^
