this was one of my favorite pieces that year. i was in the trombone section in the band. it was definitely one of the best honor bands i've gotten to play with.

This is one of the BEST PERFORMANCES I've heard of this wonderful piece (I played it in High School as part of an All-State Performance). While spoil it by selfishly focusing on a few clarinet players (who're probably playing 2nd or 3rd parts) rather than the ENTIRE BAND. Jeesh, that's why its called "A BAND". As a result, we miss the wonderful conducting, the trumpets, percussion and lower brass. Very Myopic and Dis-serving to this great performance!!

What happened to the trumpet solo?

The guy died and left a silence.

I have never liked the "ritard" during the middle of the waltz section.

During the waltz section......Love the clarinets when they jump from low a-flat to e-flat to whatever the 3rd note is.

I think the volume got the best of everybody after the woodwind repeat of the trumpet solo. The best example of this is the wrong note in the trombone trio at the end.
