  • I am going through military academy as of November 26th and will leave for boot camp when possible. I appreciate Darryl Worley for understanding the difficulties of our heroes/heroines and future heroes/heroines like me.

  • as a soldier currently in afghanistan, the support of the citizens back at home is greatly appreciated. It does get annoying hearing people bash what we are doing and be unsupportive; however, we are here fighting for their right to say what they want. Whether they want to support or oppose what is going on, it's their right as a citizen to choose and voice that choice. Respect both sides of the fence, regardless of whether or not you agree.

  • Every war US forces have been engaged in since WWII were and are wars of aggression by our troops who are essentially armed thugs for business entities. Those whose willful ignorance allows them to go abroad and murder people who are attempting to throw our invading hordes from their countries deserve zero respect. When some idiot thanks me for my service as a USMC sergeant who fought ignorantly for all the wrong reasons, I just shake my head and tell them they are clueless.

  • @Gooshnar To be fair even the guy holding the gun is a civilian. They never wore uniforms so alot of people who were killed even though they engaged us were classified as civilians. Another thing is even though we could identify a combatant they were in a crowd shooting at us civilian casulties will happen. The problem is that they show this on TV and the average person doesnt understand why or how it could happen but a soldier reacts.

This reminds me of my uncle who served in a iraq when he got home he committed suicide because his wife cheated on him. please if you or a loved one is/in the war please let it be known that PTSD is a critical factor that has soldier's on the breaking point to take there own life with there own hands. so when you see a soldier that just came back from war welcome them back home. Please i never got to tell my uncle that i loved him.

  • I served with german forces in Ex-Yugoslavia 97/98 and the only thing i heard when i came back was " What , why you did that " and things like that.

    They don´t understand that i did it because i wanted to do and im proud of what i did.

    So don´t listen to them and keep on going.

  • I'm almost old enough to serve in the National Guard and i intend to. according to my recruitment officer the Guard is being deployed more than any other branch of the military so it looks like i might not even get to finish my senior year of high school but its worth it to serve those i love

  • @deadmon555 If you are still in high school after you enlist they will wait until your graduate to send you to basic. They did that for my son this past May.

  • @r1s1ngarmy They will send you to basic your summer vacation, then AIT after highschool, if your infantry, you need a birth certificate and hs diploma, meaning you gotta graduate to go to bct and ait cause its all one training for us infantry cats.

  • I was explaining to him that he will get a chance to graduate from high school. You are incorrect about needing a High School diploma. It is still possible to join on a GED with a high enough ASVAB score, although doing this limits your MOS choices down significantly.

    By the way I served in the US Army Infantry in the Gulf War I know how it works.

  • @aj6714 It's actually 15 and depending on your MOS it is optional. It still remains possible to to join on a GED alone. There is just a limited number of entries for GED applicants in each state.

  • @deadmon555 Yeah if your recruiter counts deploying to the border and getting called up for disasters. To lay it out flat the guard may deploy for 8 months then not again for 3-5 years. Active duty does 15-18 month rotations. Although most Marine units do 6-8 month rotations. I done 28 combined months in Iraq and 15 of them as part of the surge in 2007. The thing that makes me angry is guys that say they delpoyed 4 or 5 times and I still have more time in country than them.

It is so hard to see the people that have become my brothers and sisters go through such hardships and for people to not understand. Our troops don`t need some politician in Washington thanking them for their service. What would really make them feel like they made a difference is to hear that from ordinary folks; the people they`re defending. Please thank a veteran of ANY war when you see one.

  • I didn't meet my husband until after his 1st deployment, but him and his family have both told me that he changed a lot after he joined the military. I'm just so damn proud to be his wife and to be married to such an amazing man. He does what he needs to do and doesn't complain. He's truly my hero.

  • I Currently am in the US Army....I deployed to Iraq in 2009-2010 I am a woman, and I left my son of only 8 weeks when i deployed. When i came home the feeling is like no other...this video makes me tear up when I listen to it. It is exactly how it happens I think or I believe. Thanks to all my other brothers and sisters in the military cause like that sgt said if it werent for others that came and replaced me I wouldnt be home with my son now.   • I am the wife of a vet, with 100% PTSD. I love this video, because it so accurately describes what these men and women go through. Civilians can be so ignorant at times, thinking that you can come back from this, the same person you were when you went. Our vets hold memories they will live with forever, and many they try to forget. We must NEVER forget all that they do and go through, so the rest of us don't have to.

  • I am a veteran of the Army. I think this video and song states EXACTLY what it is like when you come back from a deployment to the war. I did six months TOD in Kuwait and even though I did not see combat, I got the same reactions from people in Kuwait that others got in Iraq or Afghanistan.

    Till they all come home, and even after, PLEASE honor those who fight for your freedoms, don't take anything for granted, or you will lose all that you have.

  • @dalchron my brother is in the army and i just have to say god bless you for fighting for our country I have a hard time with my brother being gone and i cry every night i went to see this guy in concert and i had to leave early because he sang this song and i started crying :( GOD BLESS ALL THE TROOPS is all i have to say :)
