@WittSascha nope! Rick Berman wanted as little f the original cast scenes in as possible, this was a crucial cut and made a mockery of the movie when they did not include it. This was a total bootleg taken from a former paramount studeos film editor who sneeked it off the lot!
@WittSascha Doh. yeah they are the real actors smart***, we would all like to see a clearer version up too, not a forth generation copy, please ask Paramount Studios to release it?
@WittSascha No this while a copy of a copy of a copy is at least the completed version with all the fx and sound edits in the film as it was going to be until two weeks before Bozo Berman decided he didn't like Shatner and had his last great scene pulled ....before the horrible ending, Berman always hated the original STAR TREK, That is a well known fact.
@DavidHenesy Sophia tou are correct young lady! Thanks for the added info I already knew, I thought everyone knew why Berman the ass did not include this finished scene?, this is the finished scene although 4th generation tape, it was hard to get this bootleg, this is not the crap edit on the generations DVD that was not finished!
Well at least Kirk got to orbital sky-dive in the end albeit in 4 movies later and in a well let' just say somewhat more awesome scene, but not in the body of the Great Shatman.
Picard finds Kirk in the Nexus and brings him back to just before Picard was taken into the Nexus, all under the pretext that Picard needed Kirk's help to bring down the bad guy, but where was the original Picard. There should have been two Picards, the one with Kirk, and the one that had not been taken into the ribbon yet. Picard could have helped himself. I think this whole movie was made to slam shut the possibility of another TOS film if the TNG series failed. Berman was too stuck in 24th C.
truth is funnier than fiction. Back in the 60s there was a project called MOOSE that involved sort of an emergency rentry backpack that an astronaut could inflate around them, do a small retro burn with a hand held gas gun, come rocketing back through the atomosphere with bits of the pack burning off around them, then at 50000 ft release it and at 8000 open a chute. It was meant to get you down from orbit if something bad happened. It probably would work but was never used....
i've heard about it for years, but after seeing it, i think i like it better how it is. i think it's a little pointless to have this in the movie. i just wish de kelly and leonard nimoy were in it, that would have been the best, and if nimoy had directed it. still, i love generations. thank you for posting this
'I don't want to hear anymore about it.' I'm not going. That's final.' great line but he's there the next day on the bridge and not liking it at all. thanks for putting this up.
...and the scene of him entering the Bridge with a mocking look on his face now makes more sense because of this original opening with the TOS cast and gives it a more meaningful and enjoyable feel to the movie, big mistake NOT to have put this in at the start...as filmed!
Berman nearly killed off the franchise with bone-headed decision making such as this!
What a WASTE of great performances by the TOS cast in the cross-over film to TNG!
And as an additional reward he should have ended up with Edith Keeler, Carol Marcus or Gillian Taylor. When it comes to Star Trek, producers SHOULD NOT HAVE KILLED KIRK- bad, unwise misstep. This type of positive story ending would have enticed Nimoy and Kelley to return. Scotty and Checkov were replacing Spock and Bones. Kirk=Trek!
They should have kept this scene, it was good! And they should have kept Kirk alive through the Nexus as and sling him back to the Enterprise-B as a reward for helping Picard, saving millions and killing the bad guy!!!!!!!!!
glad you agree - it was a poorly thought through concept. they should have left the original crew send off as it was in TREK 6 the undicovered country.
glad you agree. i couldnt believe it when i saw it here in Britain. a shambolic ending for a great hero. sad that shatner agreed to do it but more annoyed with the writers. it was totally unecessary. shame.
Are these the real actors? The video quality is so bad I can't tell.

This scene was also included in an early Star Trek novel, though the title escapes me.

That's interesting; I love seeing cut and "lost" Star Trek footage, no matter what it is.
Whether or not it could be in the movie, perhaps in the "Directors Cut," but it's too long and out of place for a theatrical release.

it shows more about how he left starfleet and makes the nexus scene make more sense

Sorry, imho it isn't, it is alot better than that. this would have given TOS and TNG fans both a warmer feeling about this terrible movie.
