  • The gov. body is not biblical this is not inside Jesus message, you are liars

  • Reminds me of a Cult leadership!

  • @zgpeco The bit where he says about praying for the Brothers and sisters, or how they are members of the congregation like every other witness? or did you just leave a comment without listening?!

  • @djelc I was referring to the whole discourse. This is idolisation of a group of 7 men. He is saying how great they are, how hard they work. The look after the brothers. When my experience is very much that put a burden on the brothers. They don't have to face the day to day hassles of making a living, they are catered for for, they can travel where they like, they have cars and homes provided for.

  • @zgpeco Idolisation??? idolisation is a form of worship. I am a Jehovahs witness and now John Barr has died I can probably name one other member, how can that be idolisation if I cannot even name them or recognize any of them?

  • Actually there was a Governing Body in the 1st century. It was called the Sanhedrin! The great council at Jerusalem, consisting of the seventy one members, viz. scribes, elders, prominent members of the high priestly families and the high priest, the president of the assembly.

Investigate and see that Saul (Not yet Paul) received "letters" and authority from this "body of elders" in Jerusalem, to persecute the Apostate sect known as "the Way". (COMPARE Act 4:5; 5:21; 6:12)

  • @estudiantedelaBiblia

I dont see how any of those scriptures you have quoted say any of the information about what you wrote?

There is nothing mentioned of 'letters' of authority from the 'body of elders' to Saul, please explain with other scriptures. Thanks

  • @djelc I forgot to add this scripture number: Act 9:2 He requested LETTERS addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them—both men and women—back to Jerusalem in chains.

  • @estudiantedelaBiblia

Thats better now i see what your saying!

That was the Governing body of the Jews not the Christians. The apostles in Jerusalem were the Governing/overseers of the Way!

    Acts 8:14

14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Sa‧mar′i‧a had accepted the word of God, they dispatched Peter and John to them

  • @djelc I understand how one might draw that conclusion, but the Bible does not specifically support that. On the other hand, the Jewish "governing body" is definitively stated in the Bible. The Apostles WERE a special group within the church, so it is not surprising that there was direction by them while on earth. But it is a bit of a leap to say that a "governing body" for the church was then created and condoned. We DO however know that later a "governing body" emerged in Rome (hint).

  • @estudiantedelaBiblia

I understand that completely, but the same as it seems that both the Jews and the Christians both had older men/Elders in Jerusalem, both not called an official 'Governing body' because that term is not in the Bible but it does mean a group governing over others, which both faiths had.

    Acts 15:2

So Paul and Barnabas were appointed,... to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.

They were taking the lead, They settled matters.

  • Wow... so touching!

  • :) :) :) so much humility

  • I am responsible for ME....I have not met them.

  • This is Mozell Mack. I enjoy his talks!!

  • Interesting. But what does the Society say about posting videos on the Internet?

We have been advised against it in Kingdom Ministry.

    How do we handle this?

  • @tommotian It hasn't said anything and if you weren't an apostate you would not only know we that but would use the proper terms.

  • @sunshineuk1965 On page 3 of the April 2010 KM, the question box specifically forbids the circulation of recorded talks, and mentions talks placed on websites "for anyone to download." That would be YouTube.

Whatever you decide to do with recorded talks is your own business; I don't care if you violate your org's instructions. But don't you owe tommotian an apology?

  • @JBSauce Im just wondering.....How does a non JW have the time to be looking through JW ministry school material?? I just dont get it. I see so many comment of people like yours and i wonder, i wish i was as good at fine combing the material as they are! It like me saying to a Catholic did you see that arcticl in the Catholic post on April 10th 1999?!!

  • @djelc It wouldn't make sense if I were a non-JW. But since I'm an ex-JW, I knew where to look, and quickly. ;)

  • @JBSauce But why?? If you leave something dont you leave it completely? Why leave then carry on looking at things you dont agree with?!

  • @djelc There's no cosmic rule that says once you leave something (an organization, cause, etc.) you can never talk or think about it again. It's very difficult--if not impossible--to do that, especially if you spent the vast majority of your life (in my case 92%) around it. JWs always try to recapture inactive members anyway, so I find it amusing that I'm being accused of "not moving on" when organizational protocol doesn't leave me alone in the first place!

  • @JBSauce Your not being accused of anything.

I was just wondering why after studying hard every week the publications and the Bible that you dont have a break or do your own research...i mean are you still trying to take in knowledge of Jehovah and Jesus in another way or are you wasting your time reading WT publications that you believe wont?

  • @djelc Umm....what are you talking about? I don't study the publications or the Bible. Knowing how to find a particular piece of information isn't necessarily the same thing as studying. Frankly, if not for the new light you have to keep up with, there would be hardly anything new for you to study at all. No new concepts, ever since your oracle Fred Franz died. I think an article written in 2026 would sound the same as one written in 2011, maybe with an angrier tone, because that's the trend.

  • @JBSauce i just ment you did, if you were a witness, and you still do if you respect the Bibles advice.

'hardly anything new for you to study at all'

I learn new things about the Bible and Gods will every week.

  • @djelc I'm talking about nothing new in terms of your Watchtower literature. Now about learning new things in the Bible and god's will and all that, I found it a bit disheartening that people at Bethel in the early 80's did the same thing, and were summarily disfellowshipped for reading the Bible alone. Did you know about that?

  • @JBSauce Do you mean the NY Bethel, and people like Randall watters by any chance?!

I would imagine that if you were at the 'Watchtower' Bethel and you refused to read any 'Watchtower' literature, and proudly refused becuase you already knew it all then there might be issues.

Regardless of it being the Bible, for instance if you did that at any school or college you would find the same problems.

  • @djelc It's not about "knowing it all," it's just about reading the Bible alone and discovering a different message than what the GB was trying to promote. It was about not being a captive of a certain concept, thinking and reasoning, not just memorizing how to come about certain concepts. For that crime, they were punished.

One difference between college and Bethel (among the many I could highlight) is that college doesn't force your family and friends to shun you if you don't heed the rules.

  • @JBSauce Can I ask if you were at NY bethel when the whole 80's struggle happened?

  • @djelc No. But it's in the book "Crisis of Conscience." To wit: "[Lloyd Barry] spoke disparagingly of certain ones who were getting together to study the Bible in an independent fashion, claiming that some were even doing this instead of going to the Watchtower study on Monday evening" (Crisis, 339).

I suggest you read the book to figure out how your masters really operate.

  • @JBSauce We are talking about a person who is talking about another person, im not into defending things i dont know.

Dan Sydlik was a GB member when Franz was and i think he was an incredible example of a Christian, and he stayed a member, so i will always side with humble Brothers like him. I agree about studying the Bible but i also agree with guidance in doing so.

Acts8:30 “Do you actually know what you are reading?” He said: “Really, how could I ever do so, unless someone guided me?”

  • @djelc And about looking at things I don't agree with, I do that all the time. It's a strength to be able to look at things one doesn't believe in, in order to make commentary or criticism. What I wonder is: if you wanted to look at information critical of JWs, why wouldn't your org let you share that openly? I certainly have the freedom to do that, you do not.

  • @JBSauce I agree i watch evolutionary programs and articles to help refute them.

What i wonder is, because of the WT i read the bible every day and preach the Kingdom of God through Christ, so why would i look at information that might stop my healthy routine?

  • Beautiful, really encouraging ! Thanks for posting, Yah bless...

  • Stay At Jehovah's Table by a wonderful speaker as we all know is Brother Mack from Brooklyn Bethel give Jehovah the praise.

  • I love Jehovah and his organisation :-) He leads us to the new world with love and peace :-)

(Jesaja 54:17) ". . .Welche Waffe es auch immer sei, die gegen dich gebildet sein wird, sie wird keinen Erfolg haben, und welche Zunge es auch immer sei, die sich im Gericht gegen dich erheben wird, du wirst [sie] verurteilen. Das ist der Erbbesitz der Knechte Jehovas, und ihre Gerechtigkeit ist von mir aus ist der Ausspruch Jehovas."
