just for info sac , the uppsala run took place in 2001, and was a sight seeing tour. buy an english man, funny to think that just over ten years, on, its started such a craze, thats now called team ghost rider. buy leaving footage of this run with a friend. you know who you are. and do you know what the worst part is.?? he never saw a penny of any royaltys from duke videos. moral you live and learn. tin tin out
@harvestech The original DVD is from 2004, so it's likely that there even isn't a HD quality recording, as HD cameras weren't as common back then as they are now. As for the background music, I would never put any shitty music on top of this, but in the 2nd part of the video you can hear the original music from the DVD. There's nothing I could do about that.
At speeds like that, the gyroscopic effect from the spinning engine and wheels is so strong that you have to hang off the bike and pull it down just to maneuver. That's why he has to shed so much speed whenever he has to steer. Very scary.
The speedo isn't limited to 299, it's the bike. The GSXR1300 engine is restricted to 299 (186mph) at the factory. Even if you disconnect the speedo it still won't go past 299.
I don't think this is a stock Hayabusa.. And its certainly not a stock rider.
The original Hayabusa was unlimited and could achieve over 300kph..Which is why the manufacturers decided to limit such activity. It was getting out of hand
@TheDalk This bike is tuned and heavily modified. The 299 limiter is the probably the only thing that wasn't changed. Way back when this DVD first came out, this bike's mods were detailed on the ghost rider website.
Manufacturers of superbikes care only about the competition. They don't give a rat's ass about limiters or about what is "out of hand." EU regulated for a limiter and forced them to comply.
Psychos like GhostRider, however, are much more difficult to control.
@TheDalk He's not on a Hayabusa. Im not 100% sure what kind of bike he's on, but I've owned 2 Busa's (I still have one) and the dash layout is totally different. Thats some sort of 1000, maybe a Honda. Any current 1000 can hit the 186mph (300kph) limiter. BTW, most 1000's (and the Busa) can easily have the timing limiter defeated with a TRE chip, and at that point they'll easily clear 190mph, with the Busa nearing 200mph.
@fillmorenyc1 Ghost rider has a fleet of sick bikes, pretty sure I remember this is his turbo busa. He used to post all of his specs and mods on his website so either the dash is from a model year unfamilar to you or my 9 year old memory is wrong. I've seen zx's with animated LED tachs across the whole dash. Like a stereo equalizer. Either way, my stock FZ1 is already insanely fast and I will likely never find out what it's really capable of.
@Buggerguns I dunno, man. I think "mmsk8man" is right, that its probably a GSXR 1000. Busa's have only had 2 dash layouts (Gen 1 & Gen2). Ghost riders dash is totally different. I just watched the vid again... in the very beginning, where he first takes off from the light, you can see that the front headlight & the bikes fairings are way different than a Busa's too. It doesnt really matter, tho. Im not about to tap my Busa's full capabilities either. The roads in NY suck. Ride safe, bro :-)
think he wasn't far from that :P watch his reaction after he passed the van, it took him a bit to get it back together again... usually he responses much faster than that, looks like it took him a second or two to focus again
@czmeph What's more: if you pause the video, van's driver is sticking his arm out of it. So that man was deliberately changing lanes knowing that the motorcycle was approaching him.
Would have taken less time for that stupid to drive back to his lane than complaining.
@estosjapos I wouldn't say the van driver deliberately changed lines, but his lack of any reaction whatsoever is alarming. He should have done something when he noticed an idiot approaching :P You know how it is, people are usually half asleep on highways, not expecting someone to come in at 250+ kph. But still, you would expect some reaction at least. I think he didn't notice the biker until he saw him ahead of himself.
He maybe better than the stig on a bike but not in a car, thats not what i was trying to say anyway. And the guy who done this does race on tracks, or did anyway i belive he has been cought now.
The only thing that comes close to this for lunacy and at least one near miss is the video originally by M5Rus with his his M5 vs an RS4 on a Russian Ring Road - video is way shorter. In terms of distance travelled the Lonman vs IMV films video off Gumball 2003 is the only thing that comes close at 49 miles in 17 minutes (full video not online), Top video though.......
