bathiya01 - Thank you for your comment. In any true combat encounter where a punch or kick is thrown, what is done would depend first upon the defender's ability to get out of the direct line of the attack. Given your scenario of a thigh kick, it would depend whether or not one could slip to the side allowing the kick to pass by...then following up with a defensive movement that could neutralize the attack. What defense is chosen depend on your desire to end it quickly.
wyy we dont c any aikido videos which they defence against real attackers like karate, muaythai and taekuwando fighters. they only demonstrate how to react when someone grab u . im so tierd of searching the internet for such videos
In all reality the speed used to carry out any kotegaeshi throw would break the wrist. As I am sure you can imagine you wouldn't get many volunteers to make informative vids like this one if it was not done at a speed that shows the technique without harming poor Uke.
i've been very intrested in aikido because i had taken taekwondo for about 4 years and have stoped for two im now 15. is there a certain age you hvae to be to start taking classes for aikido, thanks.
Thank you for sharing your observation. This demonstration was designed to illustrate certain throws. The speed and intensity of the kotegaeshi would have been much greater in a more realistic setting and might very well be accompanied by a strike or atemi.
