Hi all. yes when I was young I used to enjoy the spinners. Does anyone know the title of the christmas song or remember the tune. I do not know if they released it on an album. I remember some of the lyrics and it went like "when the christmas pudding was agoing round" or something like that. They sang this song on their evening BBC show that i do remember
Spinners did indeed sing The Ink is Black. My wife has all their albums. She was a Greg Wellian from 1972 through to 1979 (member of Spinners Folk Club at Gregson's Well prior to their move to The Triton).
BBC have a back catalogue of Spinners programmes, not sure if they will still sell them. They had a regular spot on BBC2 on either a Monday or Tuesday at 11.00 pm
Did this lot once do a song "The Ink Is Black" ? Goes "together we learn to read and right , to read and right " or something like that . Am trying to get hold of it .
@peppersponies Funnily enough you are right , just found it . Abviously there are different versions of that some with different titals but done to the same melody . Thanks for the info as this is hw I found it .
i remember them coming to perform at my school must have been about 1971 and a few of us were lucky enough to be selected to sing with them good memories
please can someone help me. i used to listen to the spinners every sunday morning when i was a kid and one song sticks in my mind. i cant remember what its called but its about seven little animals and the chorus goes something like...out came jimmy, out came john, out came wally and out came ron, out came peter, out came paul then out popped little willy the smallest of them all. sorry for my ignorance but i loved this song and would be brill if i could hear it again.
The song is from the album Stop, Look and Listen and is called Seven Little Kids. The album is for younger folk but I love it and wish I had not got rid of it! Lets hope for more Spinner's on YouTube - great singers and great songs.
There were 2 groups, pretty simultaneously, using the name 'Spinners'. All was well until each became popular enough to cross the Atlantic, then they both had to qualify the name with their place of origin for the benefit of those on the opposite side of the 'pond', The British ones are more to MY taste, but it takes all sorts....
BTW, has anyone got some of their other songs In particular can anyone find their version of "12 days of Christmas"
Nice to hear this again after such a long time, used to have this album but the same old story lent it out and never got it back, any chance of putting Asikatali and The Lion Sleeps Tonight up as well?
actually matey these are the original spinners... "your" spinners had to change their name so they wouldn't get mixed up with the originals... i'm surprised you didn't know that being a motown master and all... lol
WAIT FOR THE DROP ! SKANKIN TO THIS BEAT !WOMMP WOMMP !!!!
