Hard to compete vith a VF-1. It's so useful and versetile, even a VF-25 Fighter and Gerwalk mode is based on a VF-1.

No. You can't compare the two. I love EVA but without Macross, there probably wouldn't have been EVA.

That's true, without Macross there wouldn't be giant mechas. But Evangelion also added in other elements that anime has never done before. So judging on the influence and the popularity, the 2 series are very close to each other. Granted, Macross might be a bit higher since it was made 2 decades before Evangelion.
