@changer81 I don't really use the midi function of the PSR-290. I have a Tascam DP-01 multitrack recorder (hardware no software) that I used to record the different sounds. I tried to use the PSR with midi and Reason but it's no good; there was a latency problem which could not be solved. When I want to use a keyboard to play sounds from Reason I use my Roland SH-201 (which has USB; the PSR-290 does not) as a midi keyboard and my Line 6 UX-2. This combination does not have a latency problem.
