I have to say as a pro-choice advocate I completely agree with this guy. Pro-life advocates should be open to share their experiences of their own stories and the reason that made that CHOICE FOR LIFE! That's the reason I am pro-choice. I have found that most pro-choice people somehow turn pro-life in the third trimester. If a third trimester healthy woman (with a healthy fetus) wants an abortion, even most pro-choicers don't think it should be legal. Go figure...
I don't think men should even have a say so in this issue unless it is their wife/girlfriend who is pregnant. Condoms aren't 100% "the pill" isn't 100%. Just a quick note, that most were upset that this ad was allowed, but not an ad that showed two men kissing. Apparently, two men kissing is seen as offensive. But, as you say, it is only a 30 second ad, and they were willing to pay for it. And any message is going to be "offensive" to some. Where is the line drawn? I believe that if ANY woman were to see ultrasound images of an abortion being performed, she would not do it--but that would be too controversial, too, wouldn't it--but actually doing it is fine?

i have no problem with someone saying that they would not have an abortion and don't like the idea of it, but i do have a problem with people trying to eliminate someone else's freedom to choose between abortion and having a child (some people simply aren't ready to be parents).

Sex is natural. If you are a teenager or adult and don't have sex or don't have the desire to have sex then there is something wrong with you... maybe you were abused as a child? "Protection" isn't 100% guaranteed. I know someone who was on birth control who had a child and I know another couple who used condoms every time and she got pregnant. I definately think rape victims should have a choice to have an abortion or not.

Just like sex is natural, getting pregnant from sex is just as natural! And the people who created that little baby need to take responsibility for their actions.

Sex IS natural, you are right, but it is not a recreational activity. With sex comes serious responsibilities, and consequences. Teens are not emotionally capable of dealing with the horror of heartbreak when their sex partner switches to another sex partner. This is ~astronomically~ the case, time after time. The peer researched case studies are out there. You don't need to share my M.A. in education to read them, and understand the truth.

Teens also need to know that NO condom on theplanet will protect ANYONE from the fastest spereading sexually transmitted disease, Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). It is the #1 cause of cervical cancer in women, among other horrors. Teens need healthy alternatives to sex, like recreational activities (soccer, volleyball, rollerblading etc.)that effectively "stimulate their loins" in a neutral way. Part of the problem is introducing them to porn. You are what you watch. It is a conscious decision.

Your comment reminds me of the fascinating little story of Uganda, Africa. After being fed up with the USA's lies about condoms, the president and his family took charge, Through direct action and honest education on ALL the facts, practicing chastity (that's abstinence ~plus~ a clear purpose, not just abstaining without direction. Uganda has dramatically and ~~~drastically~~~ dropped their number of AIDS cases. Check it out, a good read indeed!!! BRAVO, UGANDA!!!

I'd love to check out your source, but of course, you don't provide it. Maybe because Uganda's plan involved not only abstinence, but also a focus on monogamy and condom use.
Uganda is also the country, by the way, whose government is currently trying to pass a bill that would give death sentences to gay HIV+ couples who have sex (even though HIV is now spreading faster through heterosexual couples. I don't believe that deserves a 'bravo.'

- don't want to sexually educate teenagers to make sure they don't get themselves pregnant.
- don't want the government to use tax dollars to improve welfare and support system for single mothers
- are for privatised health care that ensures high cost which hurts single mothers the most.
- are for privatised education so that the children of the single mothers get the poor education they can afford.

The whole point of that comment was to show that Christian Republicans are all for abolishing abortion, but won't take the responsibility right now to take care of the children already here. When sex education is brought up in schools, you freak out. When more money is being sent to welfare and the people in need, you freak out. Pro-choice is not pro-abortion. Pro-choice is for CHOICE. Haleluiah!!! (If I misspelled that word, please forgive me). I long for the days when people REALLY dated, like a real courtship. I am sooo fortunate to have been a part of that. Hand holding, caressing the arm is INCREDIBLY satisfying, yet mocked by many. What about dancing, I mean tasteful, like the cha cha, rumba, etc. That's provocative, and SAFE ways for men & women to express attraction, and RESPECT for each other. To bypass that excitement in exchange for sex, such glory is sadly missed.

In most arguments, both sides usually have a few good points. not in this one. those who are pro abortion are just nasty and try to prove their point by being nastier than the other person. Pro lifers on the other hand are humane and nice and try to convince with solid arguments. And those who call themselves pro choice are just plain wimps. I have found that most pro-choice people somehow turn pro-life in the third trimester. If a third trimester healthy woman (with a healthy fetus) wants an abortion, even most pro-choicers don't think it should be legal. Go figure...

I don't think men should even have a say so in this issue unless it is their wife/girlfriend who is pregnant. Condoms aren't 100% "the pill" isn't 100%. Do you have the right to tell an 19 year old woman who had safe sex and got pregnant to quit college and throw her dreams away to support a child she can't afford? How about a girl or woman who is raped?
