I got turned on to INXS on KROQ, because of "The One Thing" off the same album this great song is from "Shabooh Shabah." I was hooked on their sound ever since, but unfortunately, I never saw them live. They are one of my top six or seven bands ever.
Perkins Palace - wow haven't heard that name in a while. I remember my sister saw Flock of Seagulls there during the KROQ craze. Then in the late 80s my friend saw Guns N Roses there. I never went there personally, wish I had.
@mtgarrett It's weird, and you probably knew this, but Michael Hutchence went to the 10th grade at North Hollywood High School. Apparently he liked it a lot, and started writing poetry there. It's funny when he say's "Are you gonna get off your osses, or should I say asses?" He's still practically a kid here. Kirk Pengilly sings great harmony on this song.
Thanks for the detailed answer to my question! I'll look up the Raymond Theatre in Pasadena. I love the smaller venues with great acoustics. On the INXS website now, you can add your comments about ALL their gigs[listed by year]. I'm sure everyone can fill in something.
Sometimes it makes me really sad to see this young and brilliant, up and coming band with a dynamic lead singer, knowing his fate in little more than a decade later. I have both "Welcome To Wherever You Are" and "Full Moon, Dirty Hearts" and they both rock. The world was grunge, which had its place, but this band was still vital and so was Michael. There should have been someone there to help him, to watch over him.
what is the name to call for a different kinda girl who knows the feels but never the words. one of my all time faves! hutch had a time machine cause he was singing about me now...i was 1 1/2 then. i;ve give anything to go back in time to see them with michael!
Ahhhh! My most favorite INXS song. "To Look At You!" Isn't that all we want to do with Michael Hutchence? What a gorgeous and charismatic man. As I watch him doing what he does best, performing, it makes my heart ache with sadness for the utterly tragic and totally unnecessary loss of him. Thank God he will live-on forever in the music & footage of INXS. God Bless You & Your Loved Ones, Michael Hutchence!
(I was in the audience near the front, and this remains one of my all-time favorite concert experiences -- even more than 20 years after -- and even when compared to acts like the Police, U2, etc. who I also saw back then).
@DH4caribou It's in Pasadena, California -- a very beautiful theater with a long history of music and great acoustics. It's called the Raymond Theater now though, so that's probably why you're having a hard time finding information. Try raymondtheatre:com (replacing the colon with a dot). It was one of the best smaller venues to see bands in the 80s for all the reasons described.
@DH4caribou -- It seems that the theater is in danger of being demolished soon, according to their website! So if you or anyone else who enjoyed this performance (either when it actually occurred or through youtube now) want to save it, please write to the Pasadena city council at the addresses provided on the website. Or else if you have $10 million to spare, perhaps you can buy it outright to stop the demolition?
*sigh*

This is my favourite INXS song. Michael is so charismatic here - and he was only 23 years old! Amazing.

Kirk Pengilly sings really good harmony on this song, on almost every song with harmony, come to think of it.
