It's a rainy November 21st and if I'm not wrong, it was on that date in 1967 that I last saw and said goodbye to the fair Elaine of 179th Streeet in NYC. I had to bring back her umbrella that she left at my home a few night before, and she was waiting for her new beau at the time of my arrival. How this song goes so right with how I felt then and now. I still wish her love.

I do not think that men can get this song, even Nat. But at least he got the lyrics right, "never lovers ever friends". Most renditions leave this line out, even though it is essential to the understanding of the meaning of this song. You see, we can love with a whole heart those that we will never see again.  This song stopped the world for me.
