  • Communication isn't difficult. Just use small words if you have to. I'm guessing you're a liberal because you resort to personal attacks rather than answering questions.

  • Why do people continue to refer to Obama as an "African-American"? He's half black. Half white.

Why focus on the black portion? He won't be the "first African-American president" if elected (and that's a big "if".

He'll be the first Marxist elected president.

    BOB BARR 2008

  • Because historically Americans have always fixated on "whiteness". If you had even a drop of black blood, you were black and could not go to white schools or marry a white person. Learn US history and stop asking stupid questions.

  • No need for insults.

  • ... but your comment proves my point. Sure, historically if you had a drop of black blood in you, you were ostracized.

Fast forward several decades, and now the tables have turned. Now if you have a drop of black blood in you, you're a minority and are awarded all kinds of freebees (ie: college entrance, job quotas, minority business contracts, etc.)

My point is this. Why not treat everyone the same? Why does Obama mention his ethnicity at all?

  • You are so ignorant. You do not know how to think critically, and I'm not going to waste my time trying to educate you. The tables have not turned; it's still a bad thing to be black. if white people don't think a black person is a thief, lazy, or stupid, then they must have some kind of "special privileges". Whites get the biggest freebie of all, their skin color and the assumptions and biases that go with it. But you don't understand it or see it because you are ignorant and have no education.

  • My, my. Sounds like someone needs some anger management counseling. And I would love to see your vast 23 years of experience educate me on the matters of race.

We now have a black man, pardon me, African-American as the first EVER major party candidate. If this doesn't end the "American's are racists" victimization, I don't know what will.

How 'bout this. If they'd stop wearing their pants around their knees and idolizing prisoners and gangstas, perhaps people would give them some respect.

  • Using stereotypes and cultural assumptions to justify your opinions is what makes you ignorant and uneducated. You don't understand race issues, you don't understand racism. I grew up in the heart of Texas and saw racism everyday. I knew by the time I was 8 that being black meant you were ignored in class by white teachers. I go to the #1 public university in the world and see first hand what minorities can achieve when they are given a fair playing ground. You only see through your fear.

  • When stop buying into the liberal "victimization" philosophy, let me know. Then, and only then can we actually have an intellectual conversation about race.

    Peace.

  • Oh, and just what do you consider a "fair playing ground"?

  • It's difficult communicating with you. I am used to speaking with people who have a strong, dynamic understanding of American history and American material culture. You don't have this education so it's like speaking to a child. I'd rather spend my time elsewhere, so I will.

  • I'll give you another chance.

What's a "fair playing ground" in your experienced opinion? Does that mean giving special privileges to groups or making laws for all, so that every individual operates based on the same set of laws/rules?

Special rights (affirmative action, gay rights, ect.) are not "equal" rights. Minority rights effect a group, which are also not "equal". Only rights of the the individual are truly "equal" rights, because there is no smaller minority than the individual.
