Why yes, calculus does have something to do with evolution. The main thing calculus is used for is CALCULATING RATES OF CHANGE and SUMMING CONTINUOUS RATES. Calculus is also relevant for statistical analysis, wherein results are compared to see if there is a strong correlation between events, or if events can be expected to happen within a certain number of attempts, and what frequency they should happen at.

I'm not gonna fuss too much about mistaking 200 million for 100 million years. As far as I'm concerned it's close enough to the same ballpark for these purposes. The idea is that the things are really old. They fill their niche expertly and because their niche hasn't changed much, the selective pressure is for them to remain mostly the same physically and instead grow more efficient.

Why yes, calculus does have something to do with evolution. The main thing calculus is used for is CALCULATING RATES OF CHANGE and SUMMING CONTINUOUS RATES. Calculus is also relevant for statistical analysis, wherein results are compared to see if there is a strong correlation between events, or if events can be expected to happen within a certain number of attempts, and what frequency they should happen at.

I'm not gonna fuss too much about mistaking 200 million for 100 million years. As far as I'm concerned it's close enough to the same ballpark for these purposes. The idea is that the things are really old. They fill their niche expertly and because their niche hasn't changed much, the selective pressure is for them to remain mostly the same physically and instead grow more efficient.

@AlanCFA - as GSFY loudly proclaims his Siddha Yoga background I'm surprised that he feels unable to deny Jesus as his personal saviour, after all he did refer to him as 'an avatar of enlightenment' which seems to fall well short of a Christian description of god. Perhaps he doesn't want to say it quite so bluntly as it'll make him unwelcome in some places, or perhaps he's more Christian than he likes to admit even to himself?!
