Huck Finn got banned for its language when it first came out and still gets banned today.......a guy that read some of it on youtube got suspended because of the language.
Meanwhile any age at anytime can pick up a bible and read about rape. murder.etc. etc..........and THAT'S the GOOD book?
That was an important book for me, as well. Huck's moral doubts and struggle from which he emerged victorious, for all the right reasons put him miles ahead of Tom. Tom was just in it for the ride, for the adventure, the excitement of the game.
Of course, If my take on the holy book is anywhere near correct, Hell is going to be over flowing with born again Christians. Many more in Hell than in Heaven. Seems their god doesn't like folks using his name in vain. Pisses him off, in the book.
Well, goddamn... Thank you for more intellectual prime rib, Sir. I am masticating this juicy wisdom with great pleasure and... ok... enough meat metaphors.
Not since I read Vonnegut have I seen such a profound (and amusing) logical deconstruction of the Jesus story. Either roast in hell with the sinners or maybe do as Pat Condell suggests and give us a fresh crucifixion now and then.
Nowhere in the bible is it written that Jesus ever said: "Ow it hurts" when he was dieing on the cross. Since he had magical powers, I can only assume he never felt any pain on the cross.
"I'll go to hell!" Crowning moment of awesome in Huckleberry Finn. It's funny, really, that the religious establishment is so oblivious to the the obvious atheist overtones of the greatest American novel. No, they're horrified over the "n-word," with which their own churchgoing, slave-owning ancestors had no problem.
dude in a 19th century costume talking about how huck finn is more awesome than jesus.
I think that this video has reached capacity for awesome.

I must say that the conversation in hell is likely to be on a much higher intellectual level than that in heaven.

Well god damn, good to see a new video from Brother Sam. A true sermon where you'll learn more than in a hundred church sermons. Preach on, brother.

I'm with you, praise Huckleberry Finn. The truth of it is most of those self righteous religious folks would have never tore that note up.
