@willseleven1 Changing the SIM card will not affect the tracking! When the password lock is enabled however, the app will indeed not be able to launch.
I use undercover on all 3 of my macs and my iPhone 4. I love the software, it's cheap and allows me to rest assured if my devices were ever taken from me.
That doesn't seem to be the case. According to the FAQ:
I have enabled my iPhone PIN? Will Undercover still work?
No. The thief needs to have access to your apps, so he/she can launch Undercover or one of the helper apps. If you lock the thief out, there is no way that Undercover can transmit its location, as Apple does not allow background processes.
@jerry550 Apologies for the confusion, I thought the question was whether Undercover could still be enabled with PN when at the lock screen. This is definitely the case. However, when a lock screen password is set, Undercover indeed won't be able to do its work, as the thief will first have to enter the pin before Undercover (or any other app) can be launched.
@vegaguitar24 Our iOS 4 version will be out soon. The camera cannot be used without user interaction, so the thief should intentionally take a picture of himself...
What if the iPhone has a Lock code? Usually to view a message you first need to enter the Lock code to unlock the iPhone/Touch to view the message fully and respond (only If you set it up to lock every time its put into stand by). Will Undercover still send the location information? I really am interested in this app, but I must know if this will be a problem for my iPhone.
@SK4DJ2 Thanks for your interest in our product. Undercover won't work if the lock code has been enabled, as there is no way to remotely launch apps in that case.
If Apple wasn't so stubborn and against background processes, some software like this could be remotely activated without the necessity of accepting push messages.
When launching the app for the first time, you will be asked for your email address. You will then receive an email to choose a password and to confirm your Undercover account. From then on, you may login at any time using your email and password.
Any criminal who steals electronic equipment in the year 2009 that contains a GPS chip deserves to do hard time....
FWIW, I've had Undercover installed on my laptop for years, and hope and PRAY a thief is stoopid (sic) enough to steal my laptop along with anything else they decide to take, LOL! Looking forward to this version for my iPhone....
Can i say. When you send the notification. You should really have it saying "New Message" or something. and not Undercover. as what about if the person who stole the iphone knows about Undercover? bit of a give-away?
A push notification always has the app name as its title, this is enforced by Apple. We have looked into changing the app name after the app is installed, but this is not allowed either.
From our experience with the Mac version of Undercover, we know that 90% of thieves are really ignorant when it comes to computers, software and tech gadgets, to say the least. We are pretty sure this will be effective. If not, we will refund your purchase.
What if they turn off the phone and reset factory settings???

@MegaDanstheman That will remove everything, including Undercover.

That's okay. It's still an excellent service and it works very well.

@Neb4444 I heard Apple is working on it, it should be fixed for the iOS 4.2 release due in November.
The message cannot be changed, Apple automatically sets this to the title of the app receiving the push notification.

Do either of these 2 updates and I will buy this immediately !!
1) In the iOS version, if the app is open you are apple to take a picture from the front facing camera
2) If the app is open in multitasking make a loud noise even if the phone is on silence

@Neb4444 Those are great ideas, we will look into them

Yer. I think that is very nasty. As if apple did allow it. Well for this app it would be more effective in my eyes.
