  • Hey bro its me again, ive been looking at a couple othe spots besides fort baker, but was wondering where u would go to catch some big sharks from shore or pier, my biggest sinse i spoke to u last has been a 40" leopard and id like ro top that ;)

  • Hey 1223matteo,,,,,The bigger leopard sharks nomally come in the bay in September and October,,,,normally that is "but" it's been a strange year though so I am just hoping that they will be here by then,,,,I fish for leopard sharks from S.S.F. to the S.M.B. from shore mainly,,,I hope that the big sharks show up?,,,,"best of luck to you"...

  • where in the bay were you fishing? what bait?

I fish on the berkeley pier and the crabs eat my bait because it is sitting on the bottom. Do you have a solution?

  • I know what you mean bro "but" there's not really that much you can do when crabs are around and your bottom bait fishing,,,,The only thing that I really can suggest is maybe use bigger hooks so that you can put a bigger peace of bait on so it takes the crabs longer to eat your bait and also check your bait more offen,,,,"or" maybe fish some where else because the crabs are not in big numbers every where like they are on berkeley pier,,,,,I'm not sure what else you can do?,,,,"peace always"...

  • @SharkMan650 Ok thanks for the tip.

by the way do you know any good places to fish near Berkeley?

  • No problem my friend!!!,,,,,,Concerning if I know any good places to fish near Berkeley,,,,I heard that the rock wall is a pretty good place!!!

  • @SharkMan650 thank you

  • "Anytime"...

  • Hi There...I'm a volunteer for the Pelagic Shark Research Foundation and I am curious if you have caught any healthy leopard sharks in the Bay since Jan of this year? I'm sure you've heard about the recent die-off and was hoping to hear there are still some healthy sharks in the bay. I appreciate any input from you...Thanks!

  • Well I myself have not fished for leopard sharks yet this year "BUT" I have seen several people that were fishing for Leopard sharks in the past month and they are catching a lot of healthy big and small leopard sharks so I am assuming that die-off was an isolated incident,,,,,"best regards"...

  • I certainly appreciate the info, thanks so much and happy fishing!

  • My pleasure and thanks!!!

  • @sharkman650 Have you tried using circle-hooks for sharks? I found it's alot easier to unhook them this way! I also found I didnt need steel leaders this way, since the hook is in the corner of the mouth, they cant chew on the line.. only the skin will damage it!

  • "Yea bro",,,,I use circle hooks sometimes,,,,And I use cable leaders because sometimes I hook big sevengills and they still swallow the hooks deep and there teeth have still cut my line,,,,"but" I do like using circle hooks too!!!,,,,Thanks!!!

  • Thanx brotha appreciate the advice, also I saw the stiper u hooked at pacifica.....nice! Keep it up up bro, hope to catch u out there sometime soon :-)

  • "Anytime my brother",,,,,,Hope to see you out there sometime!!!,,,,,,"peace always"...

  • Hi there sharkman, my friends and I are planning to try out the shark and ray fishing in sf bay this year, but it will be our first time. Ive been watching ur vids and doing as much research as I can but u know how every angler has his own way and rigs and there are so many to try, but I was hoping u could give us some tips on where to go and what rigs work the best for u?

    Thanx brotha,

    Matteo

  • "What's up bro",,,Well when I go shark and ray fishing in the bay I use an 11 ft. Daiwa beef stick rod that cost only about $30.00 and I wanted a strong reel that holds a lot of line so I bought a few Tica GG 100 R reels that cost about $100.00 ( it holds almost 1000ft. of my braided line),,,my line is 100lbs power pro and my leaders are home made sturgeon rigs that I make about 3 ft. long,,,,(continued)

  • And for bait I either use old smelly squid or mackerel,,,,,Some good spot to fish are Point San Bruno,,fisherman's Park,,Coyote Point,,,anywhere you like because I catch sharks and rays almost in every place that I fish for them,,,,,"Best Of Luck When You Guys Go Fishing",,,,,,"peace always"...

  • where were you fishing?

  • do you ever travel and fish? because in Marko island i catch major kobia at the boarder.

  • Hey there my friend,,,,,No lately I fish locally only "but" I'm sure there will be a lot of times in the future for me to travel to a lot of different place to fish,,,,,"Best Regards"...

  • yeah ,i figured that ,or i hoped you did .cool ..! i might go out and whack some tonight myself . big tides.! my personal best for one night is 9 over 4 foot long .

they were released , just like you, i take one from time to time. i filmed a few ,i might up load some day . later bro

  • "Right on bro",,,,,,I hope that you catch a nice shark tonight if you go!!! And "yea" you should post your videos of the ones that you filmed one day,,,,,That would be cool if you do that,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • always release those big females ,that is if you want to continue to pound them .

flip them up side down and they relax big time

  • "Yea" I release about 95% of the sharks that I catch male or female,,,,,,"Best Regards"...

  • nice job. thanks for posting. sharks good to eat. few people do but it one of my favorite fish to eat. fins make good soup.

  • "Hey thanks bro",,,,,You know I let most sharks go that I catch "but" every now and then I'll keep one to eat,,,,When I do keep one I waste none of that "good tasting" meat what so ever,,,,Thanks for the "thumbs up"...

  • My friend and I caught a 56 pound leopard shark that was almost 6 feet long. at first we thought it was a sea bass because of how wide it was.

  • "Wow",,,,That's one "huge" leopard shark that you caught!!! It must of been one hell of a fight!!!,,,,,,,,"Best Regards"...

  • nice catch ! can u tell me a good spot to fish at or from ? i usually go to the south sf peir off the "point something" exit off the 101 across from candle stick. thanks.

    Henry.

  • "Hey There Henry",,,Well,,I have a bunch of spots that I fish at & if one spots not good then I'll try a different spot the next time until I find where there at because the sharks move around,,,But "POINT SAN BRUNO" in South San Francisco is one spot that has always been great to catch Sharks,,Rays & even Striped Bass & Halibut,,,But now the bite is slowing down pretty fast,,,It's the best in the summer months but if your lucky there's still a few a few being caught right now,,,,"Best Regards".

  • @mestaz1886 Ive fished all over the bay and the biggest sharks are found in Alameda especially in arrowhead marsh during the summer

  • Right on maybe I'll check it out there next summer,,,,,"thanks"...

  • where is this place?

  • I fish inside the bay alot mainly peninsula whats the best place for me to catch a Monster shark...is there a way to tell if 1 spot is better than another...wat area did you catch this 1 n..nice Leopard..the biggest 1 i pulled out was bout 5 ft but that was a long time ago ......good work man

  • What I have noticed for years is the bigger sharks don't really stay in the same area for to long,,,"They constantly move",,,I have a bunch of spots that I fish at & if one spots not good then I'll try a different spot the next time until I find where there at,,,I just started fishing again for the big leopard because I was fishing Pacifica for some Thresher sharks so I am not sure where the best place is yet for Monster Leopards? But POINT SAN BRUNO is one spot that has always been great.

  • Well I fish all over the bay from San Francisco to Redwood City,,,,It just depends on where the sharks are that day, week etc...

  • were do you fish in the bay

  • nice shark i wanna go fishing in the ocean biggest fish i cought 25-30 inch bass on trick worm :/

  • Hey Thanks for the complement,,,,I caught this shark in the San Francisco bay and when I fish in the ocean I sometimes catch much bigger sharks & fish etc,,,,"Check out some my other fishing videos",,,,I'll be putting more on in time,,,,,"thanks again" for your complement! Best Regards...

  • I just caught one off my grandperrents back deck in belvadere lagoon. :] 9 lbs

    not huge but fun.

    nice :]

  • That's Awesome!!! A Leopard shark is still very fun to catch when there 9 lbs.,,,,,I hope that you catch more that size or bigger... " Take Care"...

  • I caught a 21 lb striper, it struck when i was typing that haha. but no more leopards.

  • "Yea",,,,This year was and still is one of the "best years" that I can remember for striped bass,,,,My friends caught so many this year,,,,From 7 to 43 pounds,,,,,I hope next years is also good for them!

  • Yeah i dont get to fish for them often because im from humboldt. The leopard sharks screwed me over today because they seem to enjoy spinning when they first get hooked and their tough skin wears down the line, of course i wasnt aware of that so when i hooked the first striper, my line broke.... So then i put on a tough leader. but yeah i love sfo fishing

  • I know what you mean bro,,,,,That's why I make my own "cable leaders" when I fish for Leopard sharks. I haven't ever fished in Humboldt county but I bet it's blast there,,,,I've heard that there's some big Sevengills over there this time of the year,,,,And one more thing,,,,I hope the next striped bass you land is a Monster!!!

  • nice !

  • Thanks!!!
