great concept but why not just use an m203 then? I get the fact that all the energy goes into the door but look at the size of them. You would have to split up the supply between soldiers, like 1-2 per soldier, plus you could probably get 3 or more m203 grenades for each Simon.
@mrcoconut12345 If you listen to the video, it says "What if you could handle this breaching threat from a safe distance?" Indicating that the team would be nowhere near the entry point. Not only that but the Simon would be close to useless once you're inside. The door into the building is never the only door you have to breach. Try shooting that in tight hallways, its not going to work. Also, each stack works independetely, there's not some "tactical support group" supporting each section.
@Mathius99 The breacher is the only one handling the breaching threat. Beside that, the Simon can go off after traveling 15 yards. Now if you can't run 15 yards before some tea-sipping terrorist understands wtf is happening when his door blows out and grabs his rifle, I've got some bad news for you.
Thats not a good way to breach. The stack team would be 30 yrds away so they would have to rush to the entry point losing valuble time. You put a water charge on there (5.2 grams of explosive opposed to 5.5 ounces with the simon) and it will bend the door in half and send it to the back of the room. The stack can be ready to go 3 meters away and not lose any time. The simon seems like a good idea unless you've actually done any actual house clearing.
or kick in the wooden door they used in that test
