Very nice execution! strange.... The Argerich usually combines any crap, keep not never the time, but in this performance is Ok. Lilya Zilberstein instead played always (almost) all very well! Maybe a bit too gestural.......
non ricordavo il brano (anche se è molto che sono nella musica). Conosco invece il pianismo delle interpreti: VERE DONNE COMPLETE DI SUBLIME STREPITOSA FEMMINILITA' INTELLIGENTE ... !!!
I like this Rachmaninov "picture-fantasy" movement more than the "Tears". And this movement even dwarfs the op. 17 suite. Imagine you are in the "krachnya plochid" in Moscow on Easter morning, and you hear the big bells toll from all of the Eastern Orthodox churches in a noisy Russian Easter celebration...and that is probably the gist of that movement. I actually heard one performance of this piano ensemble piece in Montpellier this year in July. The last movement literally astounded me!
Dear 'ekirpichov'... i wanna inform you that the younger pianist Lilya Zilberstein is totally russian...
then this is a bad record: listen to it live in a theatre or in a good cd is much more different! believe me...
Last but not least Martha is a living legend, a real goddes of piano ever. I don't think we are allowed to question her unique interpretations as they are broadly far from every critique.
This has been my favourite piece of all music for a rather long time.
However, I must say that this is not the best performance I heard: for example, Ashkenazi + Previn do very much better. Probably it has to do with Ashkenazi being Russian and better feeling the Russian spirit of the music, or at least feeling it in the same way as I do.
When I first heard this it brought tears to my eyes. It is so wonderfully evocative of pre-revolutionary Russia and the best instrumental representation I have heard of Russian church bells.
yes, it´s a great piece of music, actually one of the first i bought on record when i was a kid. but to be honest, they dont play too well together. as if they didnt practice together properly. i think they have to use such a huge rubato not to be revealed. i remember the recording i had with alexander tamir (?) and ...Eden (something). that was fireworks"
"The white haIr lady" is MARTHA ARGERICH, and she's one of the most greatest pianist of all times. Of course, there's people who dosen't like her play, but in fact she's a legend and a wounderful pianist. :)
my god, is the first time the i hear this work.... IS AMAZING! creates in me one of the most intense sensations of persecution delirium.... is truly macabre

Rachmaninov sarà pure stato un artista occidentalizzato, ma questo brano è uno dei più russi da lui composti.
Mi sembra di sentire le campane ortodosse de "La grande porta di Kiev"!

This suite isn't particularly amazingly exciting as other Rachmaninoff pieces, but it's just as amazingly beautiful.
